Top 10 Rudest Countries in the World

  • This gesture of raising the middle finger has a long history, dating back around 2,500 years. It was used by members of a particular nation as a way to physically poke, taunt, and offend one another. Centuries later, the Roman historian Tacitus documented an incident where advancing Roman soldiers were met with this rude gesture from the tribesmen of another nation. Coincidentally, these two nations just so happen to be on our list; we will identify them in this video. It’s important to know that, judging the rudeness of nations can be subjective and varies greatly based on individual experiences and cultural perspectives. Some countries may be perceived as having more assertive or direct communication styles, which could be mistaken for rudeness in certain contexts. However, these perceptions may not accurately reflect the views of entire populations, as they can be influenced by stereotypes and unique personal encounters.
So, today on Discover The Globe, we're going to be taking a look at Top 10 Rudest Countries in the World.

I visited Saudi Arabia 3 times in 2022 and experienced no rudeness whatsoever. On the contrary, I was given copious small cups of Arabic coffee, with dates by a family I met on the train from Jeddah to Medina. A father and son whom I said hello to one evening while walking back to my hotel in Abha invited me to their house for food. My Airbnb host in Medina took me out twice to a nice restaurant on Sultana Street and paid for the bill. Saudis are nice people, so I'm a bit surprised at their country being on this video.

I'm very surprised too to see Saudi Arabia in author's list. I visited that country for business purposes many times and found them very kind and friendly (and I'm a Christian and never hid that). Of course, you have to maintain dress code and practically nothing else is required from a foreigner.

Where is Philippines on the list. They are very direct and straight in your face. I have come across many rude filipinos, they may not think they are being rude, because it may be normal for them to talk straight forward and in loud voice. I am a Registered Nurse in US and I work with a lot of Filipinos, even their 70 plus year old semi retired RN nurses are very bold and very rude. But I like working with them. :).

    • @Milliardo5
      @Milliardo5 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

You're joking, right? Filipinos are hardly direct and would even go to lengths to avoid confrontation. Only if you did something stupid would you receive that treatment, and even then Filipinos would still try to confront you if it can be avoided. For a Filipino to do that to you, you'd have to be very rude that they decide you deserve that treatment.

I don't like to be biased, and this is why I like to based on my own experience, and I think French people are the ones I've had more problems to feel confortable with.
All french people I've met have been a bit difficult in some ways.

Quite interesting topic. While generally I agree with the author, I'd add the following notes (only about Europeans):
    1. At the heart of Greek arrogance (and consequently rude treatment) is the contrast between the great past (as the progenitors of European civilization with great scientists and philosophers, as well as the dominant nation in antiquity) and the current rather pitiful state as the poor periphery of Europe. This creates an aggressive tone in dealing with the new dominant nations of Europe (the Germans, the British). But Greeks are polite and friendly when interacting with other Mediterranean nations (except the Turks, of course). And they are not rude to each other.
    2. Israelis are rude because they do not consider others equal to them. But they are harsh to each other too, especially those who do not follow the commandments of the Torah. They are just very harsh people with a sharp mind. But they respect intelligent foreigners.
    3. When we talk about German rudeness, it is very important to clarify the Germans of which regions we are talking about. The Germans of the plains are really, very rude and soulless, it is unpleasant to communicate with them. But the Germans (German speakers) of the Alps (Southern Germany , western part of Austria, and Sud Tyrol in Italy) are very kind and polite people. In addition, they are the only Germans who still have not completely globalized and still preserve their traditions. And the best of the Germans are the South Tyrolians . From communicating with Italians, their tempera has softened; on Sundays they go to the church, where the choir and orchestra from villagers perform one of Mozart’s masses on organ, etc.
    3. If in Germany rudeness/politeness depends mainly on the region, in Poland it depends on the class. The Polish intelligentsia is very refined and in that they resemble to the North Italian, French and Russian intelligentsia, who preserved high traditions and standards of the 19th century. As for the common Poles (specially villagers), they are really rude. And they are rude between themselves too.
    4. The rudeness and unceremoniousness of the French are mainly generated by pathological self-centeredness/egoism. But it is rather, typical of the small property owners and more for women than for men.
    5. The rudest nations in Europe are undoubtedly the Turks and Ukrainians. They are rude to everyone, from whom they have no expectation of benefit. If you are not rich and it's unlikely that they will have something from you, then they are contemptuous to you - you just don't exist for them.
As for kindest people in Europe, IMHO are North Italians, Sud Tyrolians, Armenians and Georgians. Between them you feel yourself in a safe and friendly environment/ Actually, I feel myself quite stressless in Greece too

Agree with 90% of the list, spot on. Exception for Saudi Arabia. By the way I am not from Saudi Arabia. They are not being rude, by following modesty, and letting women cover themselves, that is out of respect for the ladies, as did many ladies that were wives and mothers of many Prophets, like Jesus, Moses, etc.

One of the best places in the world. The Germans are generally very helpful and understanding to people who are not proper like them. They are helpful in their understanding to help people where they will walk a mile to help, where others will not walk even an inch to help : like the English.

What a pile of B.S. You have been assaulted, stolen, in France ? Someone spat on you ? US streets full of degenerate weirdos everywhere are probably better, for sure. This "rude French or Parisian " thing is an Anglo US invention and is nothing but a pile of B.S. It's called cultural differences. Most of the French are more reserved than loud Anglosaxons who shout and yell every 5 minutes for anything, but are probably more open minded than many other nationalities. Parisians are normal pople like in any other place. As someone living in the Paris area, i've often tried in the past to communicate in English with foreign tourists, whom English speaking tourists. The impression was that i bothered them more than anything else. Like in any major world capitals, a lot of people deal with harsh daily life probems, and are stressed. Go in NYC or London, and enjoy. Individual people and crowds are 2 different things, when one take the time to communicate. I really think that a lot of people, particularly in US, should definitively try to fix their problem with the French in good mental institutions. Boring.

Sticking the gum under the seat, that has to win the rudest of all.
Rude people can be everywhere and any country. In the West, you find rude people on the doors. The Western people are polite but at the door they lead the world rudest at the door. You see an elderly individual at the Tim Hortons orts with the wheelchair who walked 5 minutes in two metres.
His aging brain failed him to use the other door that has the push door. There were more than 20 people in the coffee shop and waiting in line and no one tried to help. Don't worry, you get there one day and you will feel what he has to feel.
That is the heartless people not rude. People held doors for others and instead of thanking the person holding the door, they would saying nothing.
Then in the same situation, those people who held the doors get enough of it and when they come from inside multiple doors like malls instead of using the other door for themselves, they run into you. That person opens the door to get out not for you to come in why not use the other doors.

"There is nothing wrong with being rude." Well, that would certainly depend upon who you are and to whom you are being rude to.
If service staff come across as aloof and impolite, this has a detrimental impact on the number of tourists wishing to visit your country. From personal experience I can think of several situations, from two of the countries featured in this video, which left a bad taste in my mouth due to the rude service I received.
