    If you view Gabon as Sugar's story, where she's bullied by a bunch of psychopaths, and realizes she has no chance to win (having scarcely been able to build relationships), but still takes her revenge by ensuring a nice guy wins instead of one of the psychopaths... Bob's win is pretty great.

    What's important to note about Erika in 41 as well is that her premerge content was misrepresented of what actually happened as well. Deshawn was trying to get Sydney out instead and Erika was in on it but they twisted it for some reason. They did the same for Heather, in episode 4, her only confessional about being proud of failing the challenge was completely taken out of context. Deshawn, Erika, and Heather were a trio and it impacted so much of the gameplay at the merge.
    When 3/4 of the literal final 4 is never given any story development despite working together from day 1, combined with an unnecessarily visible 0 vote finalist, it's bound to cause outrage and hate which is a shame because I do think the actual story of 41 was more compelling on the island than the edited product.

      @@TEGRIDY_FARMS You're not giving Natalie enough credit.
      A lot of her gameplay and win equity was greatly overshadowed in the edit. They did this because Heroes vs Villains was finished before editing on Samoa, so everyone knew that Russell was going to be BIG.
      This unfortunately means that Natalie got shafted in terms of editing, despite the fact that she had a genuinely incredible social game.
      That's the one thing Russell didn't have. He couldn't manage the jury. A jury that wasn't bitter like say- the Fiji jury, or the All-Stars jury. Russell was genuinely an ass to all of them, they had no reason to vote him.
      Natalie is the reason that he MADE IT to Final tribal council. SHE defeated Galu, not Russell.

    I'm absolutely shocked Gabler didn't make the list. I didn't process Gabler as a win contender until the moment Jeff was reading the votes with his name on them, whereas I pretty much figured out Erika and Chris by the finale / final tribal speeches.

      I mean, the edit told you straight out several times that he had a good chance. His performance in the premiere made everyone think he had no chance of winning so everyone just ignored his confessionals when he was talking about his strategy. On a rewatch his win is very obvious.

      @IdoledOut  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

    Natalie isn’t even a bad winner. Where Russell needed to create his own chaos to fight back Galu, Natalie used what was already there by getting the tribe to turn on Erik early on. She also understood that the jury was looking for reasons not to vote Russell, and took advantage of that in the final tribal

    • @handsoaphandsoap
      @handsoaphandsoap 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +44

      Natalie is by far the strongest player on Samoa. She bonds with the Galu women that results in the Erik boot and shapes the whole post-merge. She correctly recognizes that the jury will not vote for Russell and that he will take her to the end regardless. She allows him to flame out while she remains on good terms with every single person who goes out of the game. She recognizes that she will never be the target for a vote if the Foa Foa’s have to turn on one another. On the flipside, we have the second strongest player in Russell who deliberately puts his team at a disadvantage going into the merge and trashes every person as they head out the door. Ueah, he makes some great moves, including using an idol on Natalie to keep her safe for a tribal, but social game always reigns supreme and Natalie had him beat by a mile.

    • @codypagels1598

    • @handsoaphandsoap
      @handsoaphandsoap 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@varisrevolver4061 Very true, Russell Swan was definitely the glue holding them together. But still, Galu enter the merge up in numbers and decide to eat their own thanks to Natalie and she deserves more credit for the move cause if she doesn't pull that off, Russell Hantz would have to use the idol in that first merge tribal, meaning he won't have the idol for the following Kelly boot which is where Foa Foa is able to take control of the game. Erik also goes out with the Galu idol which could've upset the power dynamics again back to Galu.

Everyone else was either without any storyline like most of the heroes outside of JT, Danielle, Courtney, and Jerri (even though Jerri did get a redemption arc, it was relatively shafted in the edit). The only other people left were shown very negatively in Russell, Parvati, and JT. It really left Sandra, who had a one-sided Russell rivalry storyline that the edit loved to prop up that made it pretty clear she was the only person with a shot to win left, beating the final boss Russell at the end.

There have been lowkey winners (Vecepia, Danni, Michele) where the edit gives them small, subtle moments in the narrative that can be more easily noticed on a rewatch, but there is pretty much no meat on the bone for Natalie at all, bordering on a purple edit. Gabler’s edit is extremely clear, it almost fits neatly into a three act structure. It’s still bad but it makes much more sense than the way either Cassidy or Owen are edited, the former being barely present and the latter being undermined at every turn. The problem with 43 is that the edit invests so much time into Karla, Cody and specifically Jesse in favor of the winning story of Gabler when he actually played a fairly solid under the radar social game, not that the audience had known that considering he’s barely on the season.

      God. Gabler Stan’s can not shut up. Biggest bunch of sore winners ever.
      Here’s why he was “under edited”. 1) he’s boring AF. His one personality trait is “wacky”. And not even in a fun way, just annoying.
      2) he lacked any sort of game plan. He was not some behind the scenes mastermind. He was taken to the end because he was a goat.
      3) he only won because he was on a jury of all goats. None of them beat anyone on the jury.
      4) stay mad about it but there was some level of bitterness on that jury. I’m not saying Cassidy should have won (she was a goat) but don’t pretend Karla and Jesse weren’t bitter.

      See, the problem with comments like this is, it assumes there's a huge amount of very dynamic and interesting content that was deliberately left on the cutting room floor. This tends to be mostly based on people who were on the island saying "Here's what _really_ happened . . . " with all the usual caveats about hearsay in full effect.
      But sometimes you do see clips that were not included. And in this particular case, Natalie seems to have been dishwater dull. Watch, for instance, the montage of her voting confessionals side by side with Russell's. Once Upon an Island has it up somewhere.

    I was actually one of the few who had Natalie pegged as a winner. NOT right away - there was no way I was choosing her in those first few episodes. But by the merge, I was like 75% sure that the game was hers. This was my logic:
    1. We just had an unconventional UTR winner in Bob two seasons ago, and I was aware that winning edits could be different from the standard.
    2. Russell had TOO much screentime and negativity for a winner, and I had written him off as an infuriating distraction.
    3. Not a single member of Galu other than Shambo had any screentime or development for me to think they had a chance, and Shambo was too much of a cartoon character for me to think she had a chance either.
    4. If we were going by "closest to standard winner edit" rules, then MICK would have been the frontrunner based on analysis myself and other people in the Survivor communities were figuring out at the time, and I was like, "There is NO shot this boring-ass, just-kind-of-there guy is winning."
    That led to me thinking this was another UTR winner season by the halfway point, and Natalie made more sense to me than Jaison or any member of Galu. A part of me dreaded that Russell might still have a chance in some weird world, but most of me was confident that if he was the winner, he would have gotten at least one cooldown episode.

    Erikas edit felt like they wanted to make the twist seem so big. Itmust have been an idea everyone was behind and it was a great thing and when it worked out and helped change the game the producers wanted that emphasized. The truth is there was only one choice..... she would literally never take the other choice unless everyone she was with had lost.
    Probably heard her 'in like a lamb, out like a lion quote' and got fixated on that too.
    Her pre game was taken away, apparently she worked with Dayshaun and Heather were working together behind the scenes. She had alot more adjency than the show gave her credit for.
    They either didn't think that was good, or got super into the twist and theme of her quote.
    That and they pushed up Xander so much for.... nothing.

    I will continue to die on the hill of Erika having the worst winners EDIT in survivor history. Yes Natalie was more invisible, but confessionals we did get from her presented her strategy and exactly how she planned to win Survivor and it worked. All the people being highlighted as threats weren't going to make it to the end. I was certain she had won when she got taken to the end. Maybe that's just me though. The irony with this video is that if someone listened to it without watching S6 Amazon, the edit of it would almost sound like Christy was crying wolf. The actual reason Jenna won is because she was in the finale against Matt. It wasn’t the reason it was out of nowhere, they focused on Rob C mist of the time and that is cuz he was actually playing survivor and why heavily show the person playing like a spoiled entitled person. I mean even Christy voted for Jenna over Matt and said on the finale it was because she at least knew Jenna and barely knew Matt. the honest edit of Jenna was shown, they just werent interested in featuring it, Jenna stated in the finale that she has grown since but that she did play like a spoiled entitled person. You mention that Jenna got all but one vote and anyone watching your video would have assumed that lone vote was from Christy, your awesome but ya got this one wrong 😜

    Problem with the Winner Edit is that it focuses on the winner, and often at the expense of the other finalists, who in my opinion, should have their own individual storylines, we should, by nature, follow three distinct or closely related narratives that explain the rises and falls of each of them. Xander should've been shown to be a contender, but seeds should have been placed at how OTHERS view them, as an exmaple.
