- Most people in the west have not heard of Chongqing and would find it hard to grasp that it has 32 million people in its municipality! It is one of the fastest growing cities in China that has become a hub for finance, manufacturing, as well as tourism! I luckily had some friends as well as the lovely tourism board of the city to show me around, because it is definitely overwhelming on a first visit! Check out their channels down below:

this city was bombed by Japanese for six years continuously. now it's one of the most futuristic cities in the world. incredible development and amazing people. And perhaps that's why China also offered help to countries that were bombed like Laos for infrastructure... because the Chinese know the pain and how precious it is to rebuild a homeland. 🥺
But Laos doesn't need your help to build anything though.... They aren't that capitalistic !!! And stop bulldozing every single historical artefacts.... Some have been kept the same ways for 1000 years. EVEN BEFORE THE JAPANESE WAR !!!!!!!...... Stoppit.
Thank you for sharing this information.
Wow I didn't know that. All I've heard about is how modern Chongqing is now. Hopefully I can visit the city next month.
Thank you for saying that
Is that why you don't want to live in China 🇨🇳?
Just back from China, doing Beijing,Xi'an and and Lhasa 2 weeks tour.Already thinking of going back again and next time will not miss Chongqing.
China and Chinese people are incredible.
Xi'an after sunset was like a fairy tale city.
You totally should!
especially the elderly who drink ice water are prone to heart disease and stroke.
I was recently in Xi'an for the first time. I biked the entire old city wall at sunset, 14km full circle. Amazing! The ppl are so friendly and food is delicious.

You know why we Americans have never heard of it? Because the American media has been hiding the fact that China is getting more advanced in all aspects in tech, medicine, city infrastructure. The last 15 years have been incredible. Anyone who hasn't been to China in the last 15 years will not recognize many cities. It's time for Asian Americans to look in the mirror and recognize their own rich history and culture.
True. Babylon USA sucks. I only like Yank Tanks, anyway. My newest Yank Tank is the 2016 Buick Envision made in Yantai, China. My older car is a 2013 Chevrolet Impala built in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. My previous 2 other cars were built in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Some Made in China stuff are actually very good. I keep American style, but Babylon USA itself is garbage. There are other places to check out as well. I am Eurasian made from ginger ingredients.
China has changed a lot. I lived in China in 2008 when Chongqing was not really on the map. Now it should be on our bucket list
Absolutely!
Chongqing is also called "8D city" because of its crazy city design landscape. So unique!
Chongqing was the war-time capital of China during the War of Resistance. The peace and prosperity we have today would not be possible without the sacrifices of those who fought for the nation.
The War of Resistance Japanese.
As such there are historical sites related to the war as well, but I suppose that's probably more geared toward domestic tourists LOL. It would have been hilariously awkward if the iChongqing guide took Alina to go tour some place like Zhazidong: So here is where the CIA worked with the previous KMT regime on 110 novel methods to torture communist political dissidents!
@@tren133 It is all part of the city’s history. I am sure Alina can’t avoid mentioning the Great Patriotic War if she were visiting Stalingrad ( or whatever it is called now).
Where do you get your news from? CCP China 🇨🇳? Lol

Welcome to my hometown Chongqing, Alina. I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay! just so you know, all the highrise buildings you saw were build after 1990s
Yes, it’s insanely impressive how much they’ve built so quickly!

I'm originally from China but now I'm in London Ontario lol what a small world.
Wow you are from Windsor Ontario, cool me too, now in New Zealand 😊
Londoners here. We’re very interested in doing a trip to China and this is on our bucket list. We are unfamiliar with China so any tips would be much appreciated.

Alex is one of my favorite Canadian vloggers who is living in China. I started subscribing to his channel when he was still in Bangkok. It's great to see his friend from Canada visiting him here in Chongqing. I wish you guys a great time. All the best.
Thank you!
iChongqing is the tourism board for Chongqing. they rely on mini documentaries of foreign residents'/visitors' feedbacks to promote their city instead of advertisements. they also have another channel Chengdu Plus.
In China, you will never feel bored because there are so many cultures to experience, delicious food, and fun places. People are also very friendly and will not bring you a sense of unfamiliarity.😊😊
You should meet Alex from Reporterfy Media, he is also a Canadian. He is well-connected and works in Chongqing.
Alex will be in the next video!
@@AlinaMcleod good to hear, I also understand more about Chongqing from him. Can't wait for the video!

This is my wife's city. It has changed dramatically over the last 20yrs. You will enjoy it, if you you like city life, but can be noisy. We are in the UK at the moment, hoping to get back to Vancouver Island soon then Chongqing.
Chongqing is a beautiful and majestic city. No matter where Westerners stand, China has made rapid progress. The intelligent and hard-working Chinese people yearn for a better life and deserve the respect of countries around the world, instead of resorting to unscrupulous sanctions, suppression, and mudslinging.
Where do you get your news from? CCP China 🇨🇳? Lol
What a city Chongqinq is. We were there just 48 hours. Enjoyed our time there. The worst thing about this trip is how short it was. We could have spent a month or more there. Loved it.
We had a guide that showed us around. What a sweetheart. So welcoming. Great food ! Wonderful architecture ! Pedestrian friendly ! WoW! Alina, It looks like your returning to
Chongquing very soon as we are.. Who knows we make see there . Sending you much love❤ from Harriet, Jim and Yuki
You guys definitely should visit again!
Thank you Alina - China is progressing well into next century - the tour guides are particularly good and they have lot of pride showing around and are very pretty too
Chongquing es para mi la ciudad más hermosa del mundo, tiene mucho verde, ríos y montañas y una infraestructura de primer nivel ❤

美丽的女士,欢迎来中国旅行。
Chongqing (China) and Toronto (Canada) established sister cities in March 1986.
Is that so??
interesting Chongqing is the very first sister city if Toronto,
United States Chicago, Illinois, United States (1991)
China Chongqing, China (1986)
Germany Frankfurt, Germany (1989)
Italy Milan, Italy (2003)
Toronto, Chicago, Frankfurt, Milan? They seem like malnourished runts compared to Chongqing, hahaha!
Maybe better drop the "sister city" idea. In chongqing , we are not told to leave our car keys outside so thiefs can come take it lol
The whole China has no highway then until 1988 which Canada had contributed the knowhow on highway construction to Chinese Civil engineer delegation in 1986....
Now they have 170000 km hwy system and Canada is same old Canada !
Thank you for showing my city to the world
My pleasure!
That dress is so gorgeous
Greetings from San Francisco, Alina. Thanks for sharing this great video. I definitely will put this to my list of city to visit in China.
Glad you liked it!
Thanks for showing this incredible city, Alina! I hope you're savoring every moment of your adventure in China. It's truly an incredible place to explore! ❤
It has been an amazing journey!
I lived in China for 13 years, mostly in Shenzhen, and it was great. Went to Chongqing about 10 years ago for work; was there for 5 days and I was impressed. It was generally clean, I felt safe and the food was great. The river going through the city was nice too. I was told by one of my co-workers that Chongqing was known for its beautiful women, he said ‘the most beautiful in China’. I’ve always wanted to go back to Chongqing as a tourist, and watching you video has made me want to do so even more. Great video, thanks!
Welcome back again, Chongqing has change a lot in the past 10 years.
The buildings and landscape are so mesmerizingly beautiful. Watching your video is like enjoying a great feast.
I recently visited Chongqing and agree its a relatively unknown city for westerners. Its a fantastic city with helpful friendly people with more varieties of food than you can imagine. I was also fortunate to meet a local woman who went out of her way to show me many of the ares you highlighted. Lots of history and lots of steps so bring walking shoes. Planning my second trip for July as I watch this video
July is very hot😂
@@minLiao-kd9el No problem having lived in similar climates much of my life.
In 2023 I took my American family and grand kids to visited the wonderful city of Chongqing which is more than I expected and everybody have good time.!!!😀🥰😀😀😍😍😍🤩🤩😘😘
I noticed how little trash there is on streets/sidewalks. Such a contrast to the cities that I have visited in Europe.
Great choices of background music.❤
Yeah I’ve been very impressed by the cleanliness of the streets in China so far!
And no graffiti either.
Chongqing is my favourite city concentrating food and sceneries on top of each other repeatedly in a 3 dimensional manner. I was there last year, but I will be back soon. Liberation of parts of China from Japanese occupation in 1945 although Chongqing herself was never occupied by Japan.
To correct one of your mistakes, Chongqing, as the temporary capital of the Sino-Japanese War, was never occupied by the Japanese, but was brutally bombed numerous times, killing over 40,000 people.
Please correct this big mistake!!! Don't rewrite history!
准确地说日本并没有占领过重庆,但曾经对重庆进行过大轰炸,造成很多人死亡。当时的中國國民政府恰恰是撤退到了重庆才领导了对日本的抵抗行动。
Chongqing is the ultimate boss. If it is occupied by the Japanese army, it will mean that Japan has cleared customs and the war is over 😂
Where do you get your news from? CCP China 🇨🇳? Lol
I just love you saying “being your kind of beautiful !” So positive. I also love seeing your smile and energy. Opened your new TH-cam video right away in the morning here in CA. Thank you for showing China. I was there in the early 90’s. I didn’t see so many high rises then. The city has changed so much! Thank you! Enjoy your stay!
I absolutely fell in love with Hot Pot in China. Im kind of surprised it hasnt caught on in the West. I did find s great Hot Pot place in the Asian District in Boston that was very good. Had it 3 times in Sichuan. Once while watching a Chinese Opera. Simply amazing.
You can find it in Toronto and Vancouver easily, but yeah a lot of westerners have absolutely no idea (including myself before I started travelling Asia) how it works 😅
I am one of those people you mentioned at the start of the video, whom had never heard of Chongqing prior to your attendance to this city. It was another city that somehow manages to give the ancient and historical room to coexist with the ultra modern. This tour was pretty impressive. My only comment is there was no way you and your guide were able to polish off that meal. That looked to be a weeks worth of food, not dinner for two. China by way of Alina, just continues to impress.
I’m glad you know of it now! And yeah the amount of food that was ordered that day was insane lol
Hot pot is good for family or friends @@AlinaMcleod
@@AlinaMcleod For about three male adults. lol
I will be here two weeks in china. I already ate one year of food.
Hot pot food tends to disappear quickly when you are hungry. I used to live in NYC and when I and friends would eat at hot pots in Chinatown, we were so full we waddled out of the restaurant lol.
I was in ChingQing, ChengDu and JiuZhaiGou last October, and I was amazed how beautiful they were! Enjoy your stay there!😊
Glad that you finally have a local to guide the tour. Your video combined with drone view and beautiful music is a treasure! Your vocal is exceptional. Thank you for your great work!!
Thank you very much and glad you enjoyed the video!
It's a mistake to associate with a Chinese government agency.
Been to China twice. Looking forward to coming back soon. It's an incredible country
A couple of years ago, part of the research I was doing for a book project, I was watching The Story of China with Michael Wood. Something that caught my eye without looking for it, I noticed how most people in the background, in the streets, that were incidentally appearing on camera, hundreds of them, were smiling. I told someone, things cannot be as bad as we are told they are in China when people display such a natural radiant energy. In New York, you can sense how the stress weights heavily on most everyone shoulders. Nobody smiles either.
A very amazing job, Alina!❤
In China I went to Hangzhou, Tianjin and Nanjing. I love these three cities.
Hi Alina! 🙂🙏👋✨🌟 I hope your having a fantastic day! This is really a wonderful super magnificent video! 😁👍❤️👏🇨🇳📹🥇💯💫✨🌟 Wow! The city of Chongqing looks so amazing! Exceptional video. Stunning architecture. What I am particularly impressed about is what I pick up from people - genuine curiosity and friendliness. That is so refreshing from almost anywhere else. The food is always interesting and a different experience. Continued happy journey - lucky you!
Very lucky me ☺️
I do have to say the Chinese mostly always have a humble smile on their face much more friendly compare to other nations.
One point about the warm water culture, it is to protect the core temperature from cold shock. The upper digestive track is in close proximity with endocrine system organs. Type 2 diabetics can be benefit from a stable core temperature.
Very informative. Thank you.
I would love to visit china one day😮
Ancient Chinese people worship ancestors,heros, animals,skies and nature,nice ❤
the concept of 'worship' in Chinese tradition is not the same as worship in Abrahamic religion, it's more to respect and unity between all beings in universe

Well said.
Is that why the CCP renounced Chinese culture under Mao?
Hi. Alina. Nice hotel and great trip also. We enjoyed watched your vlogs. Take care and thanks
Thanks so much! 😊
Two years ago I had never heard of it either. I met some people from there and now I have been there. It’s an amazing city. Phenomenal.
As a Chinese, I have never been to Chongqing. But I learned/saw a lot about the great scenery in China via your videos. I appreciate it.
Ah finally! Finally, the episode I have been waiting for so so much!! Ever since you mentioned in a comment that you are already in Chongqing and meeting Alex in the afternoon, I just couldn't wait for the episode to come out! Really can't express how eager I was so see you exploring Chongqing! I have lived in China for 2 years and have been to the city. But I visited the city during summer and did not enjoy much because it's incredibly hot during the day. However, it's the night view of the city that blew me off to the river. It's literally a cyberpunk city and it was overwhelming for me. Everything was so lit up, entire skyscrapers looking like a video screen! I couldn't stop looking everywhere! I was in such awe!!! Cant wait for the next episode!!! And once again, the music simply pumps up the mood and you look so gorgeous in that traditional dress! Love from India.
I love waking up to a new video of yours. Best way to start or end my days 😊.
Greetings from Toronto!

The city is a gem and definitely worth to visit .
I think on order to attract more tourism, they will need to have more English signs ....
Otherwise wonderful city

The mixture of ancient and modern in Chongquin is amazing.
Excellent tour of this beautiful city ! I have been to China few times , but never have the opportunity to visit Chung Qing . Hope to visit soon 👍😀❤️
中国不只有城市,还有自然风景,建议去看看自然风景
China not only has cities, but also natural scenery. It is recommended to go and see the natural scenery.
I would opt for the natural beauty off China 🇨🇳 not the big cities, they would drive me nuts, as too busy, too many people 😊..
It's amazing that you reported so much great content unseen on mainstream media in North America. You really build the bridge for peoples in the world. Thanks for doing a better job than our government officials!😀

Thanks for posting! Glad to see my mother's home city getting more international exposure. Refreshing to see things from a first-time visitor's perspective.
I was in Chongqing 10 years ago, mainly for business. Before going I didn't know anything about this city and when we arrived with some colleagues it was a pleasant surprise.
The people there were very friendly, they also invited us to Hotpot which was an interesting experience.
I'm glad Alina shows us these videos of her spectacular tour of China.
I like your voice and speed. You speak very clearly and are pleasant to listen to for an English learner like me. Of course, you are beautiful, which is also one of the reasons why it is worth seeing. I am from Chongqing and now live in New York.
I’m very glad!
Another amazing City. Loving your China series. 👍😊🇮🇪🇨🇳

Beautiful and so clean
Chongqing is the biggest city by metropolitan area in the world. I think it was praised from Sichuan province in the late 1990s. There's a cargo train from Chongqing to Duisburg in Germany everyday.
I too was flabbergasted at the size of the megacity when I visited in 2018. I too never heard of this city on the Yangtse river. Visit the panda zoo and the try the hotpot - maybe too spicy for you!

Great video, very interesting country based on this and your earlier videos. Never heard of this city Chongqing with a population of 20 million. It is such a huge country.
Thanks so much for this most interesting and detailed video. Until now all I knew about Chongquin, besides its size, was that there was a large HP manufacturing plant there. And also that tall appartment building through which a metro train passes through !
In fact, this city was a temporary capital city of China during the WII for about 10years when Japan army occupied the Chinese capital city of Nanjing.
