I really liked the oversized yellow line on the black backdrop. Much easier to see what’s happening. Very well filmed!
Sweet! Thank you for that feedback!!
What type of line is the yellow line used in your videos? Trying to teach Boy Scouts some of these required knots for the fishing merit badge and this demo line seems easy to manipulate for beginners. Thanks in advance.
@@98sanjacinto That's awesome!!! The line I use for the videos is a Fly Fishing Line. Here is an Amazon link! amzn.to/2QPR5W5
@@FTWQ Thanks and great videos!
Agreed! Nicely done.
This also works great for making braclets
This has been my go to fishing knot since my dad taught it to me as a kid! He said “make a 6 and wrap the tail around six times”
Awesome way to describe this knot! Great teacher, Dad!
Oh great way to remember! I'm going to teach that to my 4 kids now lol
Great synopsis of the method. Thank you to all 3 of yourself, your father and the original video maker...defo got a subscriber here 🙌
my grandpa told me to use this knot
I was taught that knot before I was in grade school, but never heard it called the uni knot. It was just, "here's how you tie your line, boy". So I did, and still do.
Hahaha that's awesome!
Strange how them old timers could remember a 1000 different knots. I struggle with remembering the uni knot! 😁
@@rs5200 - Just a guess, sailors and people who work around boats a lot know a lot of knots. Even though my dad served in the Korean War, he was taught a bunch of knots despite being a fighter plane mechanic. I've still got his seaman's book, and should go learn all those knots. He could still do semaphore (flags) signage well into his 80's.
Is your dads name happen to be, Kratos?
@@kaitzu4560 - Nope. Ernie. And my great Uncle Claude taught me the knot.
This is one of the clearest, easiest tutorials to follow that I've seen. Congratulations and thank you!
Awesome! I'm so glad to hear that. Thank you!
I totally agree! Still useful in 2023!
Pro Tip: Keeping too small of tag end when you trim the knot can be risky as it can cause to lose a big fish as fish can easily pull the line and free herself. Keeping some tag end of the line allows the knot to clinch down a little more if you hook a big fish that pulls hard. The beauty of this knot is that its getting more tighter when pulled.
More tighter? kinda like a more better knot
I have noticed that , great tip 🎉
Thanks so much! Great tip!
Super glue
Ya I’ve lost a fish because of that🤔
Much appreciated. I'm a novice so videos like this which are clear in execution, up close, with no filler, are a godsend.
Been using that.knot for 62 years....did not know it had a name. Good to know. God Bless America
Thank u, am a beginer in fishing, u r the only one who shows these uni knots correctly..
No problem! I'm glad the video could help!
Used this knot sea fishing for Thornback Rays yesterday with 50lb leader. Easy to tie and worked great - stood up to some punishment and lasted all day. Excellent knot and I will be using this for my leaders from now on.
5 wraps are plenty for monofilament line but you want seven or eight for braided line because braided line is much more slick.
I would also recommend leaving a little bit of tag when you trim the knot to allow the knot to cinch down a little more if you hook a big fish that pulls hard.
Thanks so much
So much easier than how my dad taught me, almost 35 years ago. But, I still appreciate my dad's teachings, and now I appreciate yours, Thank You! 😎🤙
I was looking for a secure way to knot my jewelry. This was great!!! Never in my life have I been close to a fishing anything lol. Thanks for the help! ❤️
Uni-knot is my #1 choice for strength, if targetting big fish. To be honest if I am fishing small to medium, mediocre fighting fish I often use the old fisherman's/clinch knot. Its simple and worked my whole life. I used that knot solely for my first 20 years being a fisherman it's hard to stop myself before trying and switch over to uni especially when I need something tied ASAP and fish are biting. Instinct and muscle memory. All my premeditated ties are uni-knot.
Finally, someone who knows how to demonstrate! and Keep it in focus!
Great idea showing the knot with that yellow, it truly makes it easier to see how the knot was made. Great video !
Awesome! Thank you for that feedback!
Me : not even a fisherman or have a fishing hobby
TH-cam : let's recommend him how to tie a fishing knot!
Hahaha it's trying to convert you to becoming a fisherman 🤣
Good survival skill
lol i've been wanting to trap or fish but no experience how to fish. this is a starter point! now i can go to lake n try fish.. hopefully i catch one this weekend
The fishing bug is inevitable just accept it
Am I right in thinking its the same as a hang man's nose
My nephew has become obsessed with fishing. We learned this knot in ten minutes and 3 tries each after watching your video. Thank you and we'll done
That's so cool to hear! Thank you!
Best tutorial I’ve ever seen on a uni knot. Thanks
Yeahya!!! Awesome! 🎣🎣🎣
Been fishing for many years. The Clinch knott was the first and only knot I knew as a child
I've used this knot almost exclusively for close to 50 years. It's a fantastic knot. Great video!
Such a perfect knot. It just works so well!
My friend thank you so much for getting people interested in fishing especially all of the young people fishing is something that I started when I was wow young I probably couldn't even hold the pole until now and I'm 52 I've been fishing at least 4 times a month weather permitted so for 50 years and I've got so so many young people into fishing it's terrible because now people around 20 to 37 years old there not into fishing at all so it's mostly there children who need someone to teach them and get them interested in fishing especially now when we all could be feeding ourselves learn to fish it's wonderful I'm extremely Proud of you my friend Thumbs up everyone
My all-time favorite fishing knot! It's great for tying two lines together as well.
You are a life saviour other tutorials felt so frustrating
Hahah thank you!
A good, very clear tutorial i will using this knot more often now
Thank you, it's really the easy and reliable knot.
Thank you. I needed a knot for a different application and this worked just fine.
All knot videos should be done like this, good job!
Thank you!!! I appreciate that feedback!
I've been using this knot for 40 years ever since Bill Dance demonstrated how to tie it on one of his tv shows. It has never failed me and is my primary knot for fishing.
Such an amazing Fishing Knot!
Love the Polamalu but when big lures can be a bit challenging, this knot has always served me well!
Polamar...😂

Everyone loves Troy!
Go Steelers!
I’ve been using this knot since I was 18 years old!! And I’m 43 now, love this knot! I don’t use any other knot!
Has this knot ever failed you? The uni knot because i just want to make sure its very strong
@@warrior5348 this knot has never failed me, just be sure to go through the loop 3 times. Because if you only go through it twice it is subject to fail.
@@Bigwormith thanks dude 😃👍
Brilliant demonstration! Very clear explanation and easy to follow.
I’ve never fished before, taking my sons out this weekend camping and I’m hoping to catch some fish. Your instructional video will help me this weekend. God bless!
Thank you for the clear, easy to see demonstration. The contrasting colors along with your instructions made it very easy to follow how to do this. Subscribed!
Thank you so much!
been tying this thing for so many years just from memory when my dad taught me so long ago, never knew the name of it. lol
Hahaha that's awesome! It's a great knot!
Same my dad thought me this a lot of years ago and just about threes years ago started using then Palomar knot
B's knot
½
I always tried to make this knot when my dad taught me but never understood how to make it
Like grant said this video was excellent. Very easy to follow what a great job. Best tutorial video for a fishing hook knot
i use this knot on my sun glasses .with string it can be loosened a littil easyr and it keeps its strong hold on anything you put it on but with that you only need 3 wraps for the knot to work . great job with the video
That is the BEST tutorial ever! thank you so much!!!! You explained that perfectly👌
Yes! I'm glad the video could help!!! Thank you!
Been fishing for 60 years. When I reached the age where I was the one that had to tie my own knots, this is the one I always used, and for most applications, still do.
Never used this one I just twist 6 7; times through the loop pull it tight ,never needed another knot.
@@fishfire_2999 Me too but I might try this one since I feel like I could pull it off in the wind and dark easier than the classic.
Excellent video! Easy to see. Done slow enough and close up - and it was not 12 min long with a lot of hot air for the 1st 8 min before we get to the task! Thank you for not being that guy!
Thanks for that feedback! Glad the video helped!
Thanks. It's nice to see you do this with bright fluorescent line - makes it a lot easier for the viewer to see.
No problem, and thank you for that feedback!
Ive been doing this a for a while now it never failed me. It also works great connecting two lines to gether for a leader or if you have a backing for the reel spool.
I was going to say it's very simple and looks like a great one to connect two lines AND leaves a nice tag end for that 2nd fly
It's a great knot for tying line to line too
I live in the desert and I am watching this right now because of youtube recommendations. 2020 is the best year ever.
Best example yet! Thanks!!
Really good job explaining the process! I have lost fish in the past, this looks bullet proof.
Thank you! Good luck out there!
WOW" THIS IS THE BEST KNOT IN THE UNI- VERSE!
Game changer. Made tying this so much easier than any other video
You explained this very clearly with great video quality. Thank you so much!
Very clear and easy to understand. Great tutorial to tie essential fishing knots. Cheers 👍
Thank you very much!!! Thank you for watching!
Never ear about uni knot
But we learn everyday 👌👌
Great video 👍
Very nice thank you for showing it on you tube have a good night 🙂

THANK YOUUUU BEST EXPLANTION ON TH-cam PERIOD!!!!!! THUMBS UP👍
Yes!!!! Thank you! That's awesome to hear, and I'm glad you liked the video!!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I've been using a clinch knot for years. Occasionally I'll tie on a Palomar knot. But I may give this a shot.
Outstanding video. Thanks for posting. 👍👍
Good job. Incredibly strong knot. Hooks will snap before this knot slips out. Been using it for years.
finally a good explanation. the part just before the 1st loop is usually never shown well
Right on! Thank you!
Excellent demonstration and explanation.
Much appreciated! Thank you!
Nice clear step by step explanations. Well done solid vid.
Excellent and easy to follow demo
Thanks 🙏🏼
Best regards Simon 🤝👍🤠
Thank you!
I been using that uniknot since 1980 or so.
Learned it from Field & Stream
Same here
70s for me never new it had a name we just called it how to tie the hooks
@@tictoc5103I learnt knot tyin in the early 70s..but I wasnt a pro until the 80s
@@tictoc5103 but keep tying..you'll get it lil buddy😎✌
@@tictoc5103 you were too young to know better
..let us dads teach you boys
My first knot I learned as a kid. Used it all my life, even now. One thing I do though is I run the line through the eye on the hook twice. So it basically is grabbing the hook with 2 loops.
Great tutorial! Love the dark background helps with the contrast and makes the presentation very clean and easier to follow
Awesome thank you! Love the feedback!
Best video on the uni I've seen. I've used a palomar knot forever but I may try this this weekend
Best explanation I’ve seen!
Thank you!
This was the only video that helped me learn the knot
Sweet!! I'm glad the video helped!

Are you doing ok? I’ve noticed you haven’t uploaded in a while and I’ve just recently started watching your videos. Your doing great I hope you can keep up the good work.
Thanks! When I was tying a knot last week someone said I didn't know fishing knots. Had to look this up! 😄😄
The simolest strongest and easy knot i ever used . Thx mate
I learned this from a diagram on a spool of fishing line over 20 years ago. Its the only one i use
Me too lmao
Was probably more like 30 though lol

One of my absolute favorites because of it's versatile, I also use it all the time as a nail/bobber stop knot it's easy to teach and use in almost every situation. Thanks for sharing!
🥃cheers🍻
👍
That is the best and easiest❤👍 fishing knot I have seen so far.
Great angle, explanation and example!
Honestly never saw that knot before but you sure make it look easier than the one I've been fighting through for the last 40 years, lll.

Me too! Can't wait to try it.
@@albertlewis2411 .
I DNT even fish and yet always interested in learning a new knot that can be used
Sometimes I forget the pleasure of learning...thank you for teaching man, this is really useful and hard to forget, you are a good teacher 😃👍
Highly recommend this knot.
It's one of the best!
I’ve been using this knot for years. Quick tip - the loop looks like a 'six' (6) and I wrap 'six' times.
Yes u are right. It must be six or seven
5 is plenty for monofilament but you should do 8 for braided line because it is so slick.
A good and easy way to remember the knot. 6 and 6. Thx for the tip.
That’s how my dad explained it to me as a kid!
I went from the Palomar knot to this and haven’t had an issue since. Sometimes with braid I’ll do a double uni so I don’t get slippage with flipping hooks
Same. The polymer knot should not exist anymore
Simple effective video thanks.
Very clear instructions
An uncle taught me this when I was seven ,but he also said to spit on it when you pull the knot together so the friction doesn't burn the knot.
Yep, spit or water definitely helps when pulling the knot together!
Yes that’s what he does in the video when he says to lubricate the knot down to the hook.
@@deanshaw2128 ok ,I just watched it again and yes he does use spit ,I didn't realise and just thought he used lubricant. And as a keen fisherman ,I was taught not to get fuels or oils on my rig ( fouls the bait) it's why I said spit.thanks for pointing this out .cheers.tight lines
Lubricant (I.e. spit) is absolutely necessary for mono, because it stretches. It’s a good idea for braid, but there is some evidence it actually hurts the performance of knots tied in fluoro.
My spit could burn line & hook
🤣🤣🤣
thx this realy helped me out with my long fishing dream
No problem!
@@FTWQ thx
Probably the clearest demonstration of tying this knot I have seen. Great instructional video.
Thank you!!
Dude. Omg. This was seriously helpful. I'm using fishing line from my grandad's old tackle box to fix wind chimes. Works great! Thank you
So awesome to hear! Honestly I use this knot for everything!!
I like it, Let me go practice
....... SUPER SUPER !!!! LIKE !!!!
Thank you!!!
Thanks for the video! Just subscribed!
Thank you so much you are so helpful
I’ve used this knot for decades. If I use braid I go through the eye twice and go through the loop 6x. I’ve never had the knot slip or break.
What do you mean “through the eye twice”? Like, at what point do you put it back through the eye?
J Wood I go through the eye of the hook twice before making my loop that I make my wraps through.
I use this knot 95% of the time. It can also be use to join two lines together as a double-uni. The only other" line joining knot" that may be as strong or stronger would be the blood knot. The uni is at the top for strength for tying mono to lures and hooks for me.
A Seagar (Better way to tie Triple Surgeon) is better then a blood. I’ve seen blood knots break
Very well done - easy to see and follow with clear verbal instruction throughout
Glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Excellent! Nice detailed instructions!
It is the only knot I use because I can also connect two line together but I suck at fishing.
Hahaha some days we all suck at fishing lol! The uni knot is seriously one of the best knots tho for sure!
Thx for this, I am a new to the fishing world and its the easier node to do and it looks like the strongest.
It’s is the strongest sir!
Try the 100% knot
