@@deaddriftoutdoors2940 So true. One of the things I love about fishing a stream is that you're never sure what's around the next bend. I always feel that half the fun is the exploring. Plus I usually see other interesting wildlife.
Another great video man! I caught a slam this weekend too, as well as found wild trout in my 55th Catskills stream. I haven’t yet fished this one, still plenty more water to wander!
@@deaddriftoutdoors2940 up to 59 now haha I’ve been busy. And I just keep a journal going, nothing much just where I fished and what species I caught. If I get through my to do list of places I should be somewhere over 70 but unfortunately a lot of those streams are over on your side of the Catskills (I’m on the east side) and I make those western creeks a weekend trip, I’ll camp out and hit a few of them. 👍🏻
Nice 👍. This year has been tough finding the trout, I’ve done ok when I can finally find where they’re grouped together. I think the mild winter has them an acting a little fuzzy. I’m having better luck in the small streams similar to the width in your last spot on this video. Keep them coming!
Awesome day you had love catching native brookies I've yet to catch a wild brown and a rainbow .and I have to ask what kind of camera do you use on the tripod
Mostly I watch the dry essentially using it as an indicator, occasionaly i see the fish strike the nymph before the dry moves otherwise I watch the dry. Good question!

Great video. I love the Catskills and those little streams and brooks. Thanks John
I agree, there are so many nice little wild trout streams in the Catskills and the famous rivers get all the pressure!

Thank you much!
You are welcome, my pleasure!

So far its been good for me but year to year things can change for sure
It's hard to beat the old caddis fly, i tie mine with deer hair, i think it's easier to tie than elk hair. Enjoyed watching. 👍
Thanks for the comment, yeah the elk or deer hair caddis is such a great simple fly and I love to skitter em!
Enjoy your filming.
Thanks so much!
Nice slam John! I got that JP Ross glass rod out on a stream recently and had a grand time
Thanks so much. Glad to hear you are enjoying the glass rod!

I have a Canon 90D , yeah there a bunch of this little wild streams in the Catskills with all 3 species and some in the Finger Lakes region as well.
Do you feel the strike on the nymph or just see the dry fly go under?

@@deaddriftoutdoors2940 thank you. Just trying fly fishing for the first time. Pretty overwhelming for a novice. Enjoy learning from your videos.
Do you have to worry about rattle snakes in cattskills
Not that I know of luckily
Need a streamer fishing video 🙏
Haha I hear ya, I haven't ripped streamers in a awhile, I will definitely try to do one soon.

I am self-taught and this is my natural cast, I have tried the thumb on top but it just feels weird.
