I've wanted to try something similar to this for years. The difference is I wanted to make the rear axle electrically driven, thus turning the car into a 4x4 hybrid. I figured I could remove the air conditioner compressor and use that bracket to mount the generator. Batteries can go wherever.
the issue with that design is if the batteries are mounted on the bottom of the car or in the rear your weight distribution will be messed up. of course I guess if you only use the rear motor in short bursts it wont mess it up too much but then whats the point

It's all a joke, nothing they do is serious. When russians do things properly, they're above most in the world. They have some of the highest quality car tuning companies and generally dominate in big engineering projects like planes, trucks, tanks, etc.

No problem for the eyes but later that night I realised I was soo sunburned in my face it hurt😂
that is a good point most people think they have four wheel drive but when you get stuck II attire breaks free all the power goes to the tire that spinning and that basically does nothing and is pointless you'll never get unstuck most four-wheel drives have limited slip diffs w/o any kind of lockers to lock the diff into posi

One concern is that the front and rear gear ratios match, so the drivetrain doesn't bind when the front and rear axle are rotating at different speeds.
It's a bit of basic knowledge and some measurement - these projects are fun, but not meant to last. Still, this one in particular has really got me thinking of swapping my rear axle for one from another car.
Could you use diamond plate steel to weld onto the underside of the Lada to replace the floor pans? Or as a second idea... A fishing Lada... Making the floor pans able to fold up to fish out of. Maybe even using plexiglass to make them see thru to see when you are over the fishing hole for ice fishing.
Would like to see how extreme weight distribution effects driving all the weight in the front then all the weight in the rear. Plus is 50:50 the best? Which is better for drag which is better at corners and braking?
What about a 2 engine 4wd car? One engine powering the front wheels and a second engine running the back wheels. 4wd with the extra engine capacity. :)
Since this car have been through a lot of thing, I recommend you to restore this car until it looking brand new with offroad style pickup. Fix every hole, rust, and everything even the interior so it's really look like brand new. If possible, this car should be a good looking pickup if the back of it were cut of. I hope this can be your next project for this car. Cheer!

I would love if you guys could get yourself a 1999 honda hrv and do some crazy experiment with it.. It's a pretty nice and powerfull car, made in Japan, I believe it could withstand some real torture. I have one and I am happy with it to this day. Its a 1.6 much like a lada in terms of engine size and construction, but it is a lot more powerful than a lada.
With all four wheels locked something has to give. It is going to break an axle! Love the chanel! Please do a conversion car to truck. How about small engines in cars and/or trucks?
I saw a comment about making a tracked vehicle, if you do that, i think it would be awesome. If u do, make it a suv, to carry people, supplies and so on. For the back woods. That would be awesome

I'd be worried about the gear ratio difference between the front wheel drive, the transfer case, and the rear end, gonna blow the transfer case if all wheels grip real good.
A 'full time 4wd' vehicle will actually have more differentials, there Is a center differential to allow full time 4wd use in pavement. What we have here is a part time 4wd with both differential locks permanently engaged. BTW Great job fellas.
Subaru running gear would have given all wheel drive and still had slip built in to the thing will go round corners and not shred gears when driven and turned on pavement. A heavy Duty tractor PTO clutch on the driveshaft might help but needs left to right slip on the diffs.

There's no slip yoke in the rear propshaft to allow for the rear axle to move up n down. It's gonna pull it's self apart!

Did you know if the ratio's of the two welded diffs are the same? The transmission will wind up something horrendous if they are different.

What will be the front to rear torque split ? Depends on diferential ? 55% for rear is good for racing.
You should make a extra stout rear drive shaft loop so if it slips out or breaks you all can keep your legs. Be safe

This is how we do It in Croatia aswell. Everyone works with 0 safety and there are no problems at all. Problems come when you try to prevent them.
