This is beyond beautiful. My friend was a huge fan of yours, the Bass Gang and the Wellermen as well as the biggest Tolkien need on the planet. But what do those events even mean if they don't have the context needed to answer every question the audience would have about them? Its a huge mistake not to develop the setting and then focus on individual plotlines. Arda was J.R.R. Tolkien's life work, and he spent long years from his youth and up to his dying breath developing it. He created entire languages, songs(such as this one!), cultures, races, worlds, villains, heroes, gods and everything in between first -- and then he wrote his books. The setting and everything in it was immaculately fleshed out, and only after that could he consider himself confident enough to share it with us.

I've been in in choir from age 8 to 36, now 8 years later i don't remember why i stopped (irl issues i guess) but songs like these really make me remember how rewarding it felt to make music in a group. Increadible harmony, power, composition and intonation.
I have been singing since I was three. It started with choir, Then piano lessons for seven years, more choir continuing, then opera. With a smidge of conducting. My whole life has been music. My first exposure to base is good, was Luke Taylor on I can hear your voice. Then TikTok. I can’t explain it but this song feels like the culmination of my music experience. Two good for words. I actually feel this song. Amazing.
I was in choir since I was around 10-11 I’m 21 but I stoped after high school since I started college and when I see things like this I question why I stoped and even when I was singing I couldn’t hit half of these bass notes it’s amazing to hear
It's not too late. Find a community ensemble to audition for. I trust with the number of years of experience you have, you can prepare some amount of an audition for yourself. If you have difficulty finding something, try contacting whoever you sang with last. Perhaps they could be a music home again, or at least give you some recommendations. But, you didn't ask for advice. My knee-jerk reaction is to help a poor wayfaring singer find their way home, because I know what it feels like to be lost and the amazing feeling of coming home to the music (all the rest is just details. My heart yearns out right now for my choir to resume next month. I've been away from it for 2 years now due to covid, and I can't wait to be back. Blessings, my brother.
as a natural soprano, its so relieving and beautiful to see an enormous group of talented bass singers showing off the capabilities of their range. this arrangement is truly a marvel
After watching it for 50th time, I've realised that there is no musical instruments in this video, just voices! Only voices! Whistling voices:))) Just incredible:))
I don't know... there is just something about the sound of this that makes me feel hopeful. The bassier put of the song makes you feel like you could move mountains, if we'd just move togher. I know that the overall cadence is longing, but that is how this performance makes me feel... bold, daring, determined. Moving, frankly,
MAGICAL! I would use the old “I’m not crying, you’re crying” but this was so epic I must admit, it’s me. I’m crying. More bass please gentlemen, more bass.

Listening to this song has become a meditation for me, I stop everything I am doing and close my eyes so I can hear each nuance. Everyone in this song is so incredibly talented, I am so happy The Wellermen brought together this incredible group!
My middle son had a deep voice at birth. When he got to kindergarten, the music teacher called and asked if I'd like her to teach him how to sing in a higher voice! Thanks, but NO THANKS! When he got to middle and high schools, his choir teachers were especially grateful for his beautiful bass voice!
"...this song in it's entirety" Erm... it is about the 3rd of the whole poem. :) I would pay big money to have the FULL full version sung by this company.

It has all the beauty, majesty, sadness and sorrow what makes Tolkien's world enchanting. I played the song to many people, and there was not a single one who was not enchanted by it.
This hands down is the best version of the misty mountain. It literally transports you too that world. It is beautiful all these basses coming together to create this material piece. It moves me everyone I hear it. We need more of these collaborations from all these basses it is absolutely gorgeous
it's absolutely insane to a non-singer how sometimes the strongest and deepest voices belong to the youngest and "less expectable" fellows. I'm sorry for my ignorance, I just entered this world because on a school trip a teacher heard me singing some shanties and invited me to her theatre lessons for free, and wow I was not expecting this, this is much better.
I get you. Some of these singers look like they would have high pitched voices, but then they have these insanely low ones. Just goes to show that voices have no relation to how people look, really, I guess we've just been trained to think so from cartoons, haha
I’m glad this song is still getting the attention it deserves. This cover is a spiritual experience to listen to, and I’m not even a spiritual person in general. The low notes are getting the admiration they deserve so let me just say whoever is hitting those high notes sounds amazing!! 2:15 has to be my favorite part.
We have been "forced" to listen to high voiced male singing for so long, I didn't know I was missing this deep resonance. It adds balance. I think that's why it's still gaining views and fans.
This transcends time. When I listen to it I can imagine what a great hall could sound like a millennia ago. Thank you to all who took part in making this for all of us.
Well done, lads. You took what could have been "just another cover" and really layered some gorgeous harmonies into it. Kudos to whomever is arranging to get the most out of the bountiful talent available!
I have listened to this several dozen times now trying to hear beyond the front voices to what is happening in the background... this may be the Bass Anthem but holy moly there are some stellar tenor voices in there too! The perfect blending and fluid chords still give me chills every single time, thank you for bringing all of this incredible talent together and giving them a stage!
0:59 had me almost crying, wow! The voices seemed so real! Like, each one of them felt so real, like real humans singing! That feeling you have as you stand at the same floor of the singers as they sing, y'know? I coud nearly feel the floor vibrating! Man i could picture the hole Erebor singing together! A lot of different voices of one kind!
You can definitely tell it’s him just by the technique he used to reach those low notes, his natural voice isn’t that deep afaik. It gives his bass a very unique sound and he definitely mastered it.
@@damschu23 He can also still vibrate your ears drums, such as at 3:01 His cover of Sound of Silence is a great display of his range. Everyone was astounding though 😄
Wow, so many beautiful voices. I’ve always loved this song. Even at the first note it feels like you can see the dwarfs toiling in their mountain homes.
Before the attack of Smaug, and you can feel the sorrow they’re feeling, knowing that nothing can bring those lives back. Even if they get Erebor back, the damage is already done.
This is all round unbelievably good and ive listened to this too many ties to count but that last note on the word "tall" is ridiculous beyond ridiculous
As a woman in the lower register, I cannot get enough of stuff like this! Bravo, gentlemen, bravo! Also, time to start asking for Sound of Silence! LESGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
They blend and sing so well it sometimes feels like a DEEP harmony of one or two voices singing very well, and I know how blending can be very important, and how good it can sound, I play tuba (for the low notes it makes) and percussion in my middle school band.

When I was young, I used to sing in a choir but what I really loved was singing in a quartet (alto-ish)
Ι love the implication that the choir was not real life, like it was a way to escape from reality for you :)
Who produced this arrangement??? All those seemingly random people singing in harmony, it's so incredible! Great work!
All props to Bobby for that ;)
😁✋
Daaaaaaaaamn, Bobby! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

You've got good ears my man.
@@the.bobbybass only just now getting to listen this, but ITS SO GOOD! IT MAKES MY ADHD BRAIN SO CALM.... AMAZING WORK EVERYONE.
So many folks aren’t ready to admit that low notes sound so much more satisfying than any high note
I'm a soprano and I've always acknowledged this.
Quite a bizarre statement. Based on what - you ?
I agree… as a first soprano 😩
Bass tones used to scare me as a kid, but as an adult I love them. It's soothing in a way.
Im a soprano, but these bass voices touch my soul like no high note ever has
as a natural soprano, its so relieving and beautiful to see an enormous group of talented bass singers showing off the capabilities of their range. this arrangement is truly a marvel
The amount of serotonin from this, cannot even be put into words. This was an amazing job gentlemen!!
After watching it for 50th time, I've realised that there is no musical instruments in this video, just voices! Only voices! Whistling voices:)))
Just incredible:))
2:18-2:40
I think my brain melted. This section was masterfully done, lads. Well done.
Agreed! This was my favorite part of the entire video. Love listening to it!
dude this is insane. especially at 3:57. that low bass gives me chills
It was Bobby Bass's bass if you're wondering
I think it was Bobby and Colm. Pretty sure I hear his voice on the bottom there too
I don't know... there is just something about the sound of this that makes me feel hopeful. The bassier put of the song makes you feel like you could move mountains, if we'd just move togher. I know that the overall cadence is longing, but that is how this performance makes me feel... bold, daring, determined. Moving, frankly,
Does it make you long to trade your walking stick for a sword? ❤
MAGICAL! I would use the old “I’m not crying, you’re crying” but this was so epic I must admit, it’s me. I’m crying. More bass please gentlemen, more bass.
I didn't cry, I wept.
Thank you for watching! 🔥 You can stream the track here: thewellermen.lnk.to/MistyMountains
Btw- we cannot be blamed for any damages to eardrums or belongings due to bass vibrations 🔈🤣

Ancient Chinese wisdom.... sauasage fest always benifits from a woman's mouth. Include Women.
@@JaneDoe-tn8tn It's absolutely perfect the way it is. Although a lot of songs could use women, no need for women in this song.

Damages??
This gave me like a thousand years of life
The bass vibrations are awesome! Lovely performance.

All the voices coming together gives me goosebumps
I am OBSESSED with this song, getting to see each face behind each portion of the song is amazing! Listening to this song has become a meditation for me, I stop everything I am doing and close my eyes so I can hear each nuance. Everyone in this song is so incredibly talented, I am so happy The Wellermen brought together this incredible group!
Loved every second of it!!! Bobby, Luke and Colm are the HolyTrinityOfBass!!! ❤❤❤
Can't forget about Tomi P
Geoff castaluci?
All of them are music to my soul... but these 3 gods have my heart entirely... ❤️

Whole song it's perfect. I'm crying.
The high notes at 02:10 gets me everytime. It's just beautiful gentlemen. Congrats!
Marwan and Tomi carried the high notes, but all the other guys have some really great high notes too
Last time I found out my older summer sister did hallelujah for Christmas it was very powerful I even cried for her
@@pigeon5191 it was peter and tomi, but yeah fully agree
This song is majorly underrated. They basically utilized the human voice to make it as sonically impactful as a church organ. This is marvelous.
Dad gum y'all are amazing. Basically every A Capella bass legend (except Tim, Geoff, and Avi) absolutely killing it! Go BSN!
The next generation!
Tim, Geoff and Avi alone in one video would break the internet.

I salute my brothers and sisters from the "I listen to everything" group, ever yearning for a yet more original type of music.
Hey, is it possible if we can have updates? If you or your son is somewhat good with pitch, what's his lowest note?
I wonder the reason for teaching him to sing in a higher register? As a music teacher, I am dumbfounded
The different range and pitch of bass is amazing. Not one vocal out does a other. Its all in harmony and done perfectly
It is beautiful to hear this song in it's entirety. Thanks gentlemen. You all have just amazing and beautiful voices.❤️
Thank you

"...this song in it's entirety" Erm... it is about the 3rd of the whole poem. :)
I would pay big money to have the FULL full version sung by this company.

I have never heard another song better capturing the essence of the Elder Days.
It makes you feel like Bilbo when he heard the dwarves sing this song, and really feeling their sorrow for their loss of Erebor.
I am a soprano, but am a hardcore bass stan. Ya'll have the best voices! 10/10
it's absolutely insane to a non-singer how sometimes the strongest and deepest voices belong to the youngest and "less expectable" fellows.
1:49 my favorite part, just the way everyone in the back accentuates the main singer perfectly.
1:49 this must be how an angel's voice sound like
Do you know the artist’s name? Literally sounds like an angel 😩
Exactly!

Ikr! All their voices are incredible, but that dude tops them all imo.
Stunning, just stunning. Who is he?
This cannot be more EPIC, men choruses are great. All those voices of yours are awesome. Congrats guys. It really touched my soul!
Facts. It's just something about the notes & lyrics.
We have been "forced" to listen to high voiced male singing for so long, I didn't know I was missing this deep resonance. It adds balance. I think that's why it's still gaining views and fans.
Try singing those base notes.. the rumble in your chest is fantastic.... like a cat purr
Dudes, that last note...just sayin. I got me some chills off of that one. Well done, gentlemen.
1:35
That harmony at “liiiiiiiiight” was just beautiful
I was not prepared at all 😮. I think I solved the mysterious cause of spontaneous human combustion, that many bass voices together....Lord have Mercy!
That last note sends chills every time. Bravo gentlemen.
This transcends time. When I listen to it I can imagine what a great hall could sound like a millennia ago. Thank you to all who took part in making this for all of us.
Is it really fair that we can only like the video once???? What an astounding rendition!
Now THIS is some bass -- thanks again for having us join in on this badass collab!
Well done, lads. You took what could have been "just another cover" and really layered some gorgeous harmonies into it. Kudos to whomever is arranging to get the most out of the bountiful talent available!
I cannot explain the physical feeling this gives me when listening to it
The harmonies are brilliant and just perfection
No words…just tears, and a moment of pure delight in this video. Was not expecting to cry, but this got me DAMN close. Bravo men, bravo.
2:20 is by far my favorite part, everything is just perfect
1:40 oh my God!!!!! Colm was on the lead?!? Didn’t expect that!!!! Dude made his voice a lot softer!!!! Wow!!!!
You can definitely tell it’s him just by the technique he used to reach those low notes, his natural voice isn’t that deep afaik. It gives his bass a very unique sound and he definitely mastered it.
@@damschu23 yeah!! He is also very talented among all the very talented people in this video.
@@damschu23 He can also still vibrate your ears drums, such as at 3:01 His cover of Sound of Silence is a great display of his range. Everyone was astounding though 😄
He darkened his voice a lot
Wow, so many beautiful voices. I’ve always loved this song. Even at the first note it feels like you can see the dwarfs toiling in their mountain homes.
Before the attack of Smaug, and you can feel the sorrow they’re feeling, knowing that nothing can bring those lives back. Even if they get Erebor back, the damage is already done.
3:22 is my favorite. They ALL need to sing a song together
they just did???
I thank he means a second song
Like vallhalla
The harmony is awesome we need more people like this!!!
So, the words of the prophets are written on the dungeon walls? And elvish halls?
And breaking the realms of silence?
OHHHHHHH YESSSS!!!!!!! This is going straight into every calendar and reminders everywhere!
Woohoo!!
They blend and sing so well it sometimes feels like a DEEP harmony of one or two voices singing very well, and I know how blending can be very important, and how good it can sound, I play tuba (for the low notes it makes) and percussion in my middle school band.
This is every flavor of bass. My ears are so happy.
Thankyou!
Far over the Misty Mountains cold
To dungeons deep and caverns old
We must await, ere break of day,
To find our long forgotten gold.
The pines were roaring on the height,
The winds were moaning in the night.
The fire was red, it flaming spread;
The trees like torches blazed with light.
The wind was on the withered heath,
But in the forest stirred no leaf:
There shadows lay be night or day,
And dark things silent crept beneath.
... ?...
The wind went on from West to East;
All movement in the forest ceased,
But shrill and harsh across the marsh
Its whistling voices were released.
Farewell we call to hearth and hall!
Though wind may blow and rain may fall,
We must await ere break of day
Far over wood and mountain tall.
❤️
Thanks
It's kinda late, but I've spotted 3 mistakes 😅
It's "through dungeons deep" (as their journey leads the dwarves through such dungeons and caverns) and "we must away" (indicating they have to start their journey before sunrise)
