    You are so right about finding new inspiration by changing tunings!

    Thanks Sam! I've wanted to utilize these different tunings for
    a while now because of boredom, and a desire to make my
    guitar playing more interesting. Not only are you a terrific
    teacher, but you play extremely well. All your work has paid
    off. I'll be looking for even more inspiration from you if that's
    alright. Your music friend, Billy

      Hi William! Alternate Tunings are a great source of inspiration if you are finding yourself in a guitar rut! I would suggest DADGAD as a starting point. And yes feel free to browse through my other Lessons... I'm sure you will find plenty of material to get stuck into👍 if you have any questions feel free to drop a comment under any video and Thanks again!

    Man this my 2nd video of your's I have had the pleasure of seeing and I am proud to say I am hooked I subscribed and I am giving up my others I have been following these last 2 videos are so James packed in info it's hard to belive that you can teach an idiot like me that fast and you have and that speaks volumes because I have Parkinsons and some times retaining knowledge is hard to do and the way you teach it all falls into piece for me. You certainly deserve a great big pat on the back , He'll for a feat that great I think You Tube should give you your golden and platinum plaque'sto go on your wall.

    Using these tunings is like forgetting everything you know to relearn it from scratch.

    All 4ths and all 5ths are perfect to move chords all around..

    • @Samjamguitar
      @Samjamguitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true! I believe Tom Quayle tunes in complete 4ths👍

      @@Samjamguitar Yes,. Tom Quayle and many others. in all 4ths.. The asymmetrical shape of having a major 3rd between the third and second string means you have to have 3 shapes for a single chord shape. It is useful for open chords, but not for any moving around all the closed chord shapes. The good thing about guitar at
      all 5fiths is that you can learn violin, viola, cello, banjo, and others at the same time.

      +Amatteus certainly worth experimenting with👌

      @@Samjamguitar By the way. I love your channel. Very good videos.. I like that you concentrate the video on the fretboard.. Many teachers explain guitars showing their face and body and you can not see what happens on the fretboard since the front camera position does not allow you to see exactly which fingers are pushing a string... "I do not need to see you, I need to see what your hand is doing on the fretboard" .sometimes left hand, right hand, or both...That is the important thing I need to see. . I keep telling them, but almost nobody seems to understand. Just look at how many guitar teachers keep showing themselves full body, the room, the studio, and other irrelevant things instead of showing the fretboard.. Amazing..

      +Amatteus thanks! it's something I have been trying to make a focal point of the channel. although I can understand the face and studio camera/teaching style as this also builds up a recognizable personality which helps with a channels brand👍 I try to mix both on screen animated diagrams and myself on-screen when necessary. Glad your enjoying the content and feel free to share it around! thanks once again!
