words cannot describe how much my mom loves those star tortoises. As sri lankans ourselves, we have never even seen these guys before. Thank you, tortoise man (thats what she says anytime she sees this channel) for the serotonin
It is amazing that such a small tortoise will get SO big! The flat shell on the African Pancake tortoise, is so unique. Thank you for the informative video. Those baby Star tortoises are adorable munching on that lettuce.
I've always liked turtles and tortoises but after watch and learning from your channel I've come to love them. One of the things you've shown is how the tortoises enjoy you watering them makes me love them more. Thank you for everything you do for these animals and the education you provide so the average person can love and raise them properly ❤
Garden state tortoise thank you for helping me start out my eastern Hermann’s Tortoises (Pumkin & Peppermint) , they are eating all the food you suggested however they like eating their food off the floor of the enclosure rather than from their food bowl I also give them baths daily as suggested
We now have a 20+ year old (former class pet) Russian. The only reason we were willing to take this gentleman was because of you all! So we welcomes our second species to our family (2 year old red foot) - absolutely love our babies and couldn’t imagine life with out them
I watch these videos on Sunday mornings while bathing my yearling Sulcata. Thanks for the amazing content as always. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years Chris, Casey and everyone at GST!
Love these mini classes, and I have to say the pancake tortoise is one of my favorites. Really exciting to see the adults compared to the babies, that was an extra treat. Thanks Chris, hope you, Casey and the kiddo have a Happy New Year!🎉💕👍🛸
Hi garden state tortoise! I wanted to thank you for helping me raise my 3 year old male Russian Tortoise! He's very healthy and happy all because of you! ❤❤ I do have a question, would my tortoise be considered a baby or juvenile or something else if he's 3 y/o?
Have you seen Tiptoe the African Sulcata tortoise? She got him at 7 and now 22 years later he is still a youngster. I believe he’s 150 lbs. look him up.
I'm sure they are quite familiar with tiptoe,he is actually about 24 years old and 175 lbs,yes he's amazing,Caitlin and her parents did a wonderful job,I'm usually against parents getting a tortoise or turtle for their 7 year old child, but she actually learned responsibility with this kind of animal, sulcatas are not for beginners or children..for that matter!
When I was a kid in the early 2000s I LOVED watching Animal Planet. You could always find me sitting on the floor of my bedroom in front of my tv watching something about animals. Now I'm turning 30 next month, and I get the exact same feeling watching you guys and my other favorite animal youtubers, just the pure joy of learning cool animal facts and admiring the footage of these beautiful, amazing creatures. In a way, rediscovering my love of wildlife as an adult feels a lot like coming back to the truest version of myself, and it's kind of cool to know that I really am the same person as that little kid way back then. My inner child thanks you for the fun educational content :)
I've always loved reptiles, but I never considered myself a turtle/tortoise person. This channel has completely changed my mind - they're such wonderful little animals! They're probably still not for me as a keeper (I keep lizards mostly) but I have a much greater appreciation for these guys thanks to your enthusiasm. :')
Amazing video. Would love you guys to cover desert tortoises at some point. I've got one, and I'm always looking to broaden my knowledge of best care practices.
Chris + Casey 🐢! Extraordinary amounts of information on extraordinary Turtles/ Tortoises! I have a question ❓ did Timbo lay eggs 🐢 🥚❓ you left us hanging 🙏✨❤️
@GardenStateTortoise what will happen to her if she can't lay her eggs? 🐢🥚 Yes I know they can become egg bound. I'm just worried about her 🐢🫶🙏 sorry 🤷
I love tortoises in general so much that I cuddle with them! 🐢 I cuddle with my redfeet for companionship and also give them free body warmth for their digestion and cellular growth in the process! 🥰 I also give them food put into the InstaPot pressure cooker to ensure the nutrition gets absorbed into their bodies as effectively as possible, which also ensures they get no germs. They're super friendly with so beautiful of a shell and of the ideal size for hugging on the chest, so they deserve the pampering! ❤
Please, please, please make a more detailed video, species specific, about Testudo Kleinmanni. Diet, temps, humidity, baby or juvenile care all of it.😁 PLEASE!!!
I always love your videos! They are absolutely beautiful and always entertaining and informative. But when you do one with the babies, I lose my mind!😂❤
Thank you for showing the red footed tortoise some love. I would love more videos about them and their care. Also a video about ways to convince a tortoise that isn’t a great eater to eat. How long does it take them to adapt to change in a new home. Some come in and instantly eat and act like nothing has changed and I have one now I just got that hides and doesn’t eat great since I got it.
I would love an in-depth video on Cuora flavomarginata or the various Cuora species, specifically about their native habitats, plants, habits, etc. for keepers wanting to build them more naturalistic enclosures. It seems like since their such a hardy and tolerant species that there’s not enough available information about their natural environment. Thanks for everything you do!
Hey guys, thank you so much for the awesome content. I watch every video. 😊 ❤️ Just a small favor, could you pretty pls include more Russian tortoises in your vids? I know I know, they’re not the prettiest or rarest, but as a proud mom of one awesome hyperactive boy with a HUGE personality, I would really really love to see more of them. ❤️ and what they’re up to. Thank you so much & I will continue to support your channel no matter what. :) Wish you all the best in the upcoming year.
Would you be able to make a video on how to understand different genuses of turtles/tortoises? Y’all’s videos have helped me learn so much keep up the amazing work ❤
Beautiful tortoises. I envy you and Casey. I've always loved turtles. I'm not sure if you will do a video on this, but I was wondering if Chief Brody weighed enough to stay outside this year.
Thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge of the terrapin species, we have truly learned a lot and developed a much better appreciation for them. At some point could you do a video of the 25 turtle species in Vietnam, we would truly appreciate it.
Great video as always! Is the baby Aldabra a new one for GST or on loan for the video? Adorable regardless, we hope to get one next year sometime. Also, as far as a video request I'd love to see one on Softshell turtles! Keep up the great work Chris and Casey!🐢
those aren't meatballs..it is called mazuri diet, just normal pellet food for tortoises and they make it for aquatic turtles too, best kind of pellet diet you can give them, the mazuri LS diet has what a sulcata needs and they make one for redfoot's and other species of tortoise, some tortoises will eat it dry as to where some like it moistened a little bit🙂
Have you guys seen the turtle that lives in Japan and that is in love with a cat and rides a skateboard? if you haven't you got to see it. just put in Gonzo the tutle rides skateboard and loves a cat,😊😂❤ on TH-cam
Unit lives a very natural life now in a big pond so we rarely see him. He’s taken on a wild type personality meaning he’s very elusive. So as happy as we are about that, we don’t see him much.
I was curious as to if you had any redfoot tortoise or cherry head? I personally have a Russian tortoise, but I did decide to get a yearling redfoot tortoise. I am experienced with bearded dragon and python as I have 2 bearded dragon and 2 python. I fallow you and yes I have done research but I would like just like to hear about your experience with Russian tortoise and or if redfoot tortoise
Yes. When it’s that hot, many species will aestivate which is essentially the hot, dry weather version of hibernation. Any form of dormancy is just a way for the animals to deal With unfavorable conditions.
Human beings had such an idyllic and gorgeous planet and just look what they are doing to it. I do not understand the greed and disdain for nature. Over 8 billion people on the planet. It is not sustainable.
Fantastic video! I wanted to know if you and your wife were able to find that one turtle..your favorite of the group..who was hiding really well when you were putting them all in their bins for hibernation? I’ve been asking a lot and really want to know! I hope she is okay! 💓💗🩷 btw, it was really. lol seeing the full grown one drink water..what a fantastic shot!!
@ I am hopeful that she found a safe spot too! I had a feeling you hadn’t found her, but I wanted to ask to know for sure. But in my gut, she is a very smart, strong, hearty girl..and she will pop out when it’s and carry on like it was nothing! 😂 And when that day happens, I hope you all have a little celebration for her and make a video dedicated to it!
