- BMW's powerhouse X5 SUV is all-new for 2019 and it's overflowing with technology, two engine choices (sweet six or enormous eight cylinder) and is lathered in luxury.
This could very well be the best modern BMW.

You will find this video captures just a little bit of how technical the new X5 is. It’s “next level” luxury, tech and performance. Amazing. The 50i M-Sport is getting real world 0-60mph in 4.19 seconds. It’s a beast.
That is one HEAVILY optioned 50i. Love it!

You have the cargo package, not only do you get the power cover but those rubber strips will actually inflate and rise above the metal on the floor (once the vehicle is in gear and the lift gate is closed ) this will prevent suitcases and boxes from sliding around. 👍
My 2020 X5 is delivering in 2 days. Been watching a lot of reviews on the X5 and this is the best one so far! Great job!

I've a new 3.0 x-line in Arctic Grey with Ivory interior arriving July. This was a very good review. Question...we have added the load net optional extra and now wonder if that will interfere with that wonderful system with the electric load cover? And another - was that car Arctic Grey? I do hope so! Stunning....
Very nice. I have watched a ton of videos on the X5 and I think you were the most comprehensive and hit on several things I have not seen in any other videos. We are waiting on the 2020 hybrid, can't wait.

Excellent review. You are spot-on in your comments having personally owned numerous BMWs and Benzes. BMW always wins out for me as I like driving at the edge of adhesion which is BMW's claim to fame. I'm in the market for a new X5 but the exterior appearance of the new model is giving me pause. I wish it were as gorgeous as the interior.

It looks the same as the 2015, which I own. Mine has just about every option, but the interior quality needs help. The 3 seat with the fold down flat feature does not go flat. Even if you remove the headrests, and pull the fron seats forward it still wont go flat. The front seats on mine have the optional leather and air flow, but it ,after 30,000 miles is cracking over the seat control panel. I traded a volvo xc 90 for the car, and probably will go back to the volvo when the extended warranty runs out.
Like your format "perks, quirks and irks"....do one of the 2020 Ford Explorer ST or Platinum trims. Did you try the "auto park assist (perpendicular/parallel)"?? On the X5....

This is a really good video. Most of the x5's competitors have similar features. A lot of reviewers don't review the features that are unique to the BMW. The laser lights aren't a selling feature for this years x5, neither is the automatic privacy screen. However, it's these quirks that might win some buyers over.

Laser light only in auto works to assist high beam. It is not a low beam light.
It better be. I just ordered one.
Is that automatic privacy shade optional? My dog would hate that thing coming at him every time I put him in the car.
Oh Man~~ Love your X5 😂 you should have Remote Start on your X5 with A/C to cool down or to heat up. All you need to do is press lock button 3 times on key fob AND hold the lock button at 3rd time until the turn signal flash to you.
To cancel the remote start, just follow the same procedures again.
mark tu no need to hold lock button on third press, it will start anyways after three times. Common mistake.
Love your vid. BMW outdone themselves. Lexus is behind and I don't care if they fail anymore. This X5 is superior vs the Lexus RX and GX.

You're absolutely correct - BMW truly has outdone themselves here. Even with the V8 ringing the register at nearly $100,000 K pre options, there'll be plenty of these on the road in the coming months.
Great video. Sad news though BMW Sky lounge has been removed from the X5 And now is only an option in the bigger X 7

"Potentially that is the case in the US, but it is an optional feature on the X5 in our Canadian market."

I have a preorder on an Etron, drove it 2 days ago, but not in love with it.... thinking about dumping my order and getting a X5 (I have a 550xi currently). I hope you are able to get an answer on this laser light distance.
I see those gesture controls getting pretty annoying while youre having a conversation. Touch screen will just accumulate fingetprints. Other than a fully digital dash and some bling i dont see much of a difference

Does the 2019 bmw x5 have a soft floaty ride quality?

TheMandoza1 no it doesn’t. My brother owns one and if you have the M sport with the M suspension like my brothers, if is stiff and sporty. But, it does vary between drive modes.
With M-Sport Adaptive Suspension, yes. Although it might be stiffer in sport mode, I dont really drive in sport.

Is it me or does this Canadian X5 seems more loaded than a similar spec USA X5?
You can get all that option in us spec with exception of led element sun roof.

Leather dashboard, glass control, Acoustic glass, M performance brake, Harman Kardon (option in 40i standard in 50i). This sums about what this car has in US spec.
At 4:27, the feature you are showing is available in most of the cars (be it Honda/Toyota/Acura/Lexus etc) .. it may be new to BMW. :)
That second row legroom is tiny for the car of this size, showed at 6:21
Lei Jiang - In defense of the X5, I have long legs so in 99% of press cars I review, I sit all the way back as far as the seat will go, reducing leg room for the passenger behind me.
Agree. I love this car but was disappointed w the minimal rear leg room. The similar size GLE has much more room.
Does the navigation fill the whole screen ?

um the x5 doesnt have LEDS in the sun roof, the X7 has it not the X5? am i missing something here?
Yousef Aldossary The X5 in the video was equipped with the Sky Lounge. Haven’t had the X7 yet but I made sure to film the Sky Lounge in the X5.

But I still have question does the LEDS in the sun roof come as standard or should I pay for more, because in their site in the build your own tab, there’s no option to add LEDS to the sun roof unlike the x7 which has an option to add LEDS to the sun roof

So if you want the LED's in the sunroof, it'll be $1,000.
Not sure if it's available outside of Canada but hopefully it is as it's truly a wonderful feature.

Lexus uses the same engine all over. The 3.5 V6 has been with them for 14-15 years. BMW has the B57, B58 and the new S58 in the M3/M4 etc. Must be a shame to drive a luxury car you paid so much for and know it has an old engine. I used to like Lexus but BMW won my heart. :) Cool features like the ambient lighting, fragrance, and electric cargo shade sets it apart from Lexus easily. :o

Lexus / Toyota uses old but proven technology to ensure its reliable. I love the new x5 and planning to replace my 2010 Lexus RX w the x5. But I haven’t pulled the trigger bc the lexus is just so reliable and there has been so many reliability issues w the new x5 in all the forums.
Too bad there's no longer a diesel option in North America.

You will find the Bentley Bentayga as well as other high end SUV’s do the styling side vents that are not active.

Privacy cover in trunk will be the first thing to break on 90% of these cars.
Actually the opposite..previous models had that wonky huge bar across the TOP and everytime you need to carry something you have to take the entire huge bar out..throw it on the floor..this is super clean and it wont get damaged...hopefully..since it within the fllor concealed..
Hideous looking taillights. Looks like they're from a cheap Kia/Hyundai.
Wow, the massive ugly grill, Jeep Cherokee tail lights and the silly curved rear fender lines are gaudy, tacky and not perks. I miss the clean sleek x5 design language.
