This is so awesome to hear! I am so grateful this video was helpful! My mom was also a single mom and one memory I have of her is when we were younger she had our refrigerator out in the middle of the kitchen and she was fixing it so it means a lot to me that I was able to help you repair this for your family! Having your kids see you do this work yourself will mean a lot to them as well! Way to go!

I can't thank you enough for for this video. Our dryer died on Sunday night. OMG. Insert freak out here. My husband works fifty billion hours a week. We have three kids. Four dogs. And a working hobby farm. I was hanging out clothes on the clothesline in 30 degree weather. 😑 There was much PG cursing... Then I found your vid... I followed your directions and was actually able to fix our dryer all by myself (thermal fuse replacement). I can do lots of things but appliance repair is def not on that list and I can't tell you how long it would've taken the hubster to get to it. You have saved the day. 🙏🙏

Thanks… You saved me a bunch of money because I was able to use this video to replace the door “thingy.” Instead of paying for a service call and an up charge on the part - I paid less than $20 for two parts. The little “thingy” in the back was replaced but did not fix the issue. I don’t have an ohms meter - so I just replaced in order. You ROCK!😅

Thank you very much for this video! I just fixed my dryer, and it only cost me $1.61 and less than 10 minutes to repair! (That part was way cheaper than the $9 you originally said.) I recently had it serviced, at over $300 for a new belt and motor issues, then it just stopped a few weeks later. Yes, the belt and motor were the issue then, but I guess this time it was that thermal fuse. Now, I am not a "handyman" by any means, but you made this fix seem really easy to attempt, which it was. Thank you for that! I realize that this video is over a year old, but as you can see, it is still usable. Again, many thanks!

You were right on about what was wrong with my old Kenmore dryer - the thermal fuse had blown, replacing it cost me all of $12 at a local appliance parts store and just an hour of my time, which was important because it stopped working the day before several generations of my family were showing up for Mother's Day, with some staying over which meant lots more laundry than usual. Carry on [fill in the blank]! still my favorite British comedy series that began just about the time that these washers and dryers were first being made for Sears-Roebuck.

thank you,..no REALLY, THANK YOU!. I just fixed my old 70 series Kenmore because you taught me how to do it! same model. I was for sure it was the door switch slammed too many times, so I started there...but, as you predicted # 1 problem, it WAS the thermal fuse. now I don't have to work extra shift to pay someone $200 to replace a $5.00 part 😂on a $50. dryer. 😄 Door switch $5.47, Thermal fuse $4.39, 1/4 inch tool for back screws $1.99, & a lil free ingenuity .😄AND now, 19 yrs of accumulated fire hazard lint is all vacuumed out & clean as a whistle. yes, really thank you.

The thermal fuse was it for me too! When I tested it with voltmeter it seemed like it had conduction. So tested the other two options which also seemed fine. Read a comment who said the fuse tested fine for them and replaced anyway and it worked. I clock the fuselink in the description ordered from Amazon got next day and boom, worked! I tested the old one after pulling it out and it seems like some parts had connectivity and other parts didn't. Anyway great video and saved me from buying a new dryer!

THAMK YOU SR. I followed your advice and fixed my dryer myself. It was the thermal fuse. My dryer was full of lint build up from years of use in a damp climate.

I watched your video and was thrilled....i went though all the tests and everything was working. I figured it was junk.
To my amazement my wife called me several hours later and said "did you check the belt?" I said no and if the belt was broken it would start and just not spin. At least that is what I thought. She checked and found the broken belt. When I came home I pulled it apart and found that when the belt breaks the idler pulley retreats and shuts off a kill switch. How can you not say check the belt first in your video. It might not be a top three, which the parts vendor said it is number two with problems. Please update you video or place a notice so that us ignorant repair (myself, not my wife) have a better understanding. I do appreciate your time and efforts. Thank you

Excellant video. My dryer has a lot more screws on the back but the position of the thermal fuse is the same. Tested continuity with a multimeter and nothing. Just for kicks, I temporarily connected the two leads with a little electrical tape and it started right up. Got the part from Amazon for $4.99.

Thank you very much! That was the reason the dryer will not start. You helped me saved my mother about $100 something dollars. It was my dumb brain that I thought it didn't work because it wasn't connected. LOL!

Thank you so much! Thermal fuse did the trick. I'm not too handy and your video made it easy. I also cleaned out the vent hose and it was packed with lint, which may have caused the fuse to blow in the first place(?) and now may have prevented a fire. So thanks again!

Thank you for posting this. I was about to start a big disassembly effort when I decided to check the push button switch on your recommendation. The problem was just a loose connector on that switch.
