@@knottedrealm OMG didnt see your response until today. It took 5 days since the day it was lost so it was there waiting for us at our home airport when we arrived. THANK GOODNESS!!!!

If that kind of thing happens again, I suggest taking Amtrak. The train goes from the Twin Cities to Portland. It is a long time on a train, but you would have been home in less than 4 days and you would have seen some wonderful views. Plus the train is fun! Flying is faster and all, but there are a few trains going between the big cities
I’m a homebody, too, and we have a pretty quiet childless cat-and-dog household. It’s nice to see family and friends, but coming home to our own space is a big relief. Glad you got through the airport debacle. I understand the big “D” spiral. For some reason 2024 has been especially hard for me. I’m ready for a change! ~Brenda
omg, that sounded miserable. glad you're home safely to your wee little ones (so sweet). I don't do group vacations, too much social anxiety. I can't take people with bad attitudes much either, it rubs off on everybody else. stay home and stay positive is my motto.
I understand why you were so upset. I wasn't traveling on Delta during the Crowdstrike nightmare, but I work at an airport and we saw that even a week later Delta was still struggling to return to normal ops. I'm glad you were able to get out when your flight was rebooked! What cute kitties. I can see why you were so eager to get back home. I just found your channel so I'm excited to see what it's all about. I love your sense of humor so it should be fun!
My goodness, y’all sure went through it on this vacation. I was recently stuck in the Charlotte airport overnight while on a work trip and it took me the following week to recover. 😅 I’m a homebody as well. I can totally relate to that feeling you described when you walk through the door to your own space. ❤
Ugh what a nightmare, sorry you had to live that, no wonders you lost it. I kinda new you hadn't much vacations in the US but not *this* few (privileged European working freelance here). Sending you strength to bear up 🤗 I'm all the more grateful you're taking time to make these videos!
I'm in the UK and we have a mandated 20 days of paid leave but most companies give slightly more (25-28 days) and I've always been salty because our European friends get so much more, especially in terms of maternity leave. I think the England has one of the shortest maternity leave in Europe. After hearing your rant I'm going to truly appreciate every single one of those paid leave days, I'm sorry the US doesn't do things like that (yet!) Also wow all of that kerfuffle which happened to you while going home! I'm a silent watcher of your videos but I gotta say it sounds like you and your husband dealt with the situation as best as you could. I would have definitely broken down in that queue too 😢 Have you ever tried crocheting jewelry? Like mini crochet? I only know how to knit but those mini crocheting projects on Instagram always intrigued me 🤔 Great video though, you're the only knitting channel I consistently watch on here ❤
I'm sure you know by now, but your mic is amazing. All the 'background' noises you warned about I didn't even hear. Well the voices in the one scene you were on a tiny little bunkbed or something but that still wasn't bad... Glad you're home and feeling better!
The nature clips were so comforting and sweet! The little turtle was so charming! I'm so sorry you went through that. I hate the vulnerability of airports and everything else sounds a lot like a worse case scenario. Your comfort when you got home is something I really relate to.
I'm so sorry your vacation had to end in all that mess. Would have totally freaked out, I always fear that I get lost at airports and am easily overwhelmed by situations like that. To end on a positive note, that crochet top looked very cute on you!
Was that a Pooh bear?! Love Pooh! Also totally get the needing a break from people thing - people, as much as I love individuals, can be exhausting. I’m sorry your vacation had such a rough end! Glad you were able to finally make it safely home. Nothing like coming back to snuggles from the fluffers.
Ooooh dear! I am so sorry this happened to you guys🤎 I'm always so anxious and stressed at an airport.. especially standing in line.. I bow down to you guys pulling through... I relate so much to you being a home buddy... You seem so happy in the last part.. and your cats are just adorable... I'm glad it turned out to be okay! Oh my life, you poor sod, I would have broken too. like you, I can’t cope with too much activity/commotion around me so I like my own company a lot. I’m very comfortable with my little unit of me, my husband and our 3-legged dog. When I saw that you were taking yourself off for some “me” time and continuing to crochet I was chuffed for you. I died inside when the second cabin meant sharing with 3 others, but your bed 😮 well that just looked perfect for cocooning. And then the airport 😢 I’m usually the upbeat one when things go wrong, I do it to keep us both smiling. But I too would have crumbled when you did. And it IS a big deal. We all have our individual things to deal with and we all cope better at some things and crumble at others. It just happens to be that CrowdStrike and needing Pippin & Merry was what broke you. That feeling of relief you describe as you walked back into your own space is something I wish we could bottle. I’m glad you got home to your comfort and safe zone.
Your airport nightmare is giving me second hand stress! I'm glad you guys were able to get your flight eventually, and your cuddly kitty looks so happy to have you back 😊

OMG, I was stressing just listening to your nightmare unfold, you poor thing!! I don't blame you for having a meltdown. Any normal person surely would. I'm a homebody too, so much so, I never go on vacation...just coming home from work makes me happy. lol Hopefully, your next vacation will be a more enjoyable and relaxing one. BTW, here in Australia we also get 4 weeks paid leave (minimum) every year (if you work full time). I had no idea it wasn't that way everywhere. And your beautiful kitty looked so pleased to have you back there on the couch under the blanket...so cute. I've noticed with my kitties, especially one of them (she's a dilute tortoiseshell), she's becoming more noticeably affectionate now (she's a bit over 3 yrs old now), and it's so cute. I have 3. My calico girl is like super glue on me (sounds adorable but can be kinda annoying when I just want to sit on a chair for 5 seconds w/o a cat on my lap), and my little guy Teddy is super affectionate but w/o the dependency issues. But I love them all regardless. Love your vids, even the not-so-much-about-knitting ones. 😍
My husband’s family rented a huge house on 100 acres with its own lake in Vermont last year. I had such low expectations for it and ended up having a blast. I do think it worked partly because it was such a large house and property that you could be alone when you needed it. Great memories.
So I actually couldn't finish your video because we were trapped in the Paris airport due to the crowdstrike issue and it's a little too fresh and a little too traumatic for me to think about now. Spending the night on an airport floor with my kids turned the vacation of my dreams into an actual nightmare. I feel your pain so much.
My husband and I kept turning to eachother saying “I’m so thankful we aren’t traveling with kids right now” our hearts were breaking seeing all the families curled up on the floor. Comforting children who are scared or exhausted. I’m so sorry you had to go through that!
@@BreathingYarn Luckily my kids are bit older, there were folks with babies sleep on the floor and I was thinking the same as you. Credit where it's due, my kids were absolute champions. Still, we cried a lot in that airport.
I feel ya about the joy of coming home from a vacation, especially to my kitties. So sad that your vacation ended on such a sour note. Just know that I too would be crying in that airport line.
Wow. First you are amazing for spending three weeks in a cabin with in laws. I can’t do more than five days with my family before getting restless. Also, that is horrible about the flights and you deserve a refund. But the snuggles from your cat❤❤❤❤
It took me 45 minutes to watch this because I got so stressed for you, I had to keep pausing. What a stressful experience! But no worries about crying in public, I live in NYC and I probably cry on the train/bus once a month/every other month. It happens. I hope you've been able to rest after that "vacation" !!
You handled all that chaos a lot better than I would have. I hate airports. I will only fly if I have no other choice, hopefully during a non-busy time of year. That being said I don't like travelling unless it's a short-ish road trip. Being stuck somewhere I already don't want to be and not being able to leave makes me very stressed (airports/planes). And I do not handle stress well at all. And I HATE crying in public. Once I'm in a mood, my body will force itself to start ugly crying and throw rage fits and there's little I can do to stop it besides riding it out, then sleeping for a long time after since it is exhausting. It doesn't matter how much breathing exercises or meditation etc I do; it happens regardless. I have sensory problems, especially hearing. I've lived life in noise cancelling headphones for years, even to sleep sometimes which is uncomfortable and I really just don't sleep at all most of the time. I'm always hyper aware of my surroundings and certain noises will set me off. Stress like that 24/7 is hard on the body. So I can relate when you say you like being at home. I just drove approx. 28 hours one-way recently, unplanned, by myself, with limited food and no sleep lol. Even though I was very stressed/exhausted and had some mental breakdowns along the way, I was NOT going to fly. I'm sorry all that happened to you. The nature looked serene and beautiful though, just too bad it had to end on a sour note.
So, the best part of this video? That very last shot of you and Pippin, with the mike picking up the purring. The purring says “home” to me. Glad you survived.
So you have 3 Weeks of payed holidays a year and just spent them with lots of poeple around you (witch would tier me out no matter how cool they are) and 4 days in a really crap situation till you got your flight. That kind of breaks my heart. Mabey because I haven't had holidays this year yet that recharched my batteries. So I really wish that at least everyone else can and I hope you still kind of did that a bit ❤
Everything about that "vacation" sounds like my worst nightmare. From more than a dozen family members in one accommodation to the airport debacle, you handled it all with way more grace than I would have! Hopefully your luggage makes it back to you from its little side trip.
I, too, die a little inside when I speak with my European colleagues and they disappear for 2-3 weeks in the summer, which delays delivery of projects my manager is demanding and will yell at me about 🤠 I totally support that amount of time off, but the US is completely deaf to global customs and still holds me accountable for getting that work done without integral resources. My doctor wonders why my BP is in the stratosphere lol.
What a terrible ordeal. I would have totally lost my shit, and the depressive days after are only warranted. Glad to hear you got your luggage back too. Time for a staycation now ❤ kittens, your own couch, comfy foods and quiet. I only 'liked' the video for the algorithm, very much dislike that this is how your trip ended. You totally know how to style your target buys tho!
Lord, that is a nightmare. Seriously, I'm amazed by how well you functioned. I would have totally lost it. BTW - my biggest nervous system dysregulator is an airport "situation" (and I have never been through anything that even approximates this degree of misery). Between the flicker tempo of the lighting, the loud disembodied voices, the grime, the lack of vaguely decent food, the spiritually frazzled energy of the masses, the line ups (my biggest trigger), I'd already be on the edge. Note: You'd think I must have PTSD from years in cold war Soviet Union given how I (don't) function in a queue. So I want to say: Respect. You may have lost it from time to time but you did something tremendously challenging on so many levels. And you got home. Remember that there's little you can't do, once you've succeeded through this kind of a situation. (I say this as a longstanding highly-sensitive being. I understand that for some people, this might not be as tough as it is for others. Though it would not be remotely easy for anyone.) I'm so sorry you had to go through this.
Oh wow, that sounds like a horrible time at the airport, Isabella! I would 100% have cried in line as well and would probably have been just as frazzled as you were after that amount of family time. Don't beat yourself up about being upset, especially in times when our nerves are worn down anyway, small things ARE big, just because we have no resources left to deal with them - and this was no small thing! Anyway, glad you made it home eventually and could reunite with your kitties
So glad you got home!! We also have been impacted by what I’m calling the Delta Debacle. Our flight was delayed by 3.5 hours so we missed our connecting flight to Scotland. We’re in line for about 2.5hrs to rebook for the next day. They gave us a hotel voucher, only to find out they were overbooked and sent to the hotel next door. That hotel gave us a room, and I could just tell when we walked in the room that something was off, so I said “surprise!” (I say weird things, lol) and this man sits up quickly in bed saying “yes?!” Mortified, we left apologizing profusely. We did get a room but I couldn’t sleep for some reason. The next day we get on our plan, we get halfway to Edinburgh and we had to turn back and land in Boston due to someone having a medical emergency. We did make it to Scotland. Maybe we’ll make it home. Knitting in the meantime. I feel your feels. Soak in all the home vibes!
I'm sorry you had so much stress in your vacation. It's really bad if you need a vacation from your vacation. Back in the day when my husband and I didn't have kids and were traveling far and by plane we also experienced some of the stress you two had, but it wasn't even close to as bad as you were... but actually I found it bad enough which is one of the reasons why I never wanted to fly with little children. Nowadays they aren't even really little anymore. They are 9 and soon to be 8, but still. Omg, I can totally get why you were stressed out and done with the world, but if you had to this with little ones... not an experience anyone wants to have.
What a vacation! I'm so sorry for the mess at the airport. It is terrible. I got flashbacks from the time I got stuck in Moscow airport for 24 hours because of a blizzard with bags already on the plane and us freezing our asses on wooden stools surrounded by marble. I am also introverted, but TH-cam is the place for me to talk to people, because, well, Germany is not the right place for finding friends. So I do get the sudden energy drain after being surrounded by so many people. Oh my, I felt personally attacked and guilty for my vacation 😂😂😂 I still do not use the days up and instead use just my "overtime hours". 😅 Btw, the target outfit is lovely 😅
😂 I wanted to play the tuba as a kid but I was told I was too small and was assigned the French horn (which I enjoyed). Im thrilled i got to fulfill a childhood dream
Girl, this is terrible! You need to move to Europe. We have 35+ days of paid vacation and, you know, trains ;) Hope you could get a bit of a rest in the end..
@@baumwolke2078 Luxembourg, banking sector. I think it is 26 days minimum, but public holidays falling on weekends are being added, so it adds up to over 30 in the end. You can add to it, for example if you work on a bank holiday, you get 3 more paid vacation days added as compensation, etc. All overtime hours over 8h can be taken as extra holidays, too. More days are added if you are over 45. Things like that.
@@nadiarogo4511 that sounds not bad 👍 must admitt, I don't even know the details in my own country as I 'm selfemployed and thus payed holidays don't exist for me. But of course when you work overtime you can swap that to additional holiday-days too, that I'm sure of.
Absolute nightmare! Be sure to look into getting compensated from the airlines. Legally they owe you a bunch and you're definitely going to have to chase them for it.
It’s mental to me as well. I’m amazed because 15 days is considered “good” and most people I know have the same amount or less. Im glad I have my 15 and not 5 like my sister.

I just found your vlog and love it. The editing is amazing and I like it when you have parts with nature and water too.
Thank you 🥰 those moments felt so peaceful in person and I’m so happy I was able to capture a small piece of that to remember
Ooof that all sounds like so much. Hope August brings quieter vibes with house panthers and mental space❤
Dang! That's about all I can say to that ordeal. Glad you made it back and got some kitty love.
So, the best part of this video? That very last shot of you and Pippin, with the mike picking up the purring. The purring says “home” to me. Glad you survived.
I’m glad I kept it in because that moment felt like home to me.
Fingers crossed we can all get a recharging holiday in soon 🥰
Oh my god, what a travel nightmare. I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you and your husband! And that it really soured the end of your time away.
That airline price gouging in a crisis pisses me off for y'all. I'm glad you are home safe and sound with the kitties though🤍
Agreed!
Everything about that "vacation" sounds like my worst nightmare. From more than a dozen family members in one accommodation to the airport debacle, you handled it all with way more grace than I would have! Hopefully your luggage makes it back to you from its little side trip.
Luckily the luggage made it back (and yea, the vacation with over a dozen extroverts is a lot 😂)
lol “over a dozen extroverts” definitely not my kind of trip. I get it though sometimes you have to go. Omg.
100% relatable!
Your tatt is freaking awesome. ❤
Thanks! My tattoo artist is amazing
I’m so sorry that happened to you. That sucks. Don’t feel bad for being upset about it.
I was lucky to have my husband there and family near
Oh wow, that sounds like a horrible time at the airport, Isabella! I would 100% have cried in line as well and would probably have been just as frazzled as you were after that amount of family time. Don't beat yourself up about being upset, especially in times when our nerves are worn down anyway, small things ARE big, just because we have no resources left to deal with them - and this was no small thing! Anyway, glad you made it home eventually and could reunite with your kitties
I can’t believe I left that out! We did get our luggage back thank goodness 😅
@@BreathingYarnPhew! I'm happy you didn't have to fight with this as well :)
That’s truly a nightmare!!!
❤❤❤
Btw, the target outfit is lovely 😅
I’ve heard Germany is a tough place to make new friends! That Moscow airport experience sounds absolutely miserable.
Absolutely loved this podcast!! New sub, haven't got to the shit show yet at the airport, according to comments!
The clip of the tuba should become your new standard for introducing / closing out a segment. I laughed out loud.
😂 I wanted to play the tuba as a kid but I was told I was too small and was assigned the French horn (which I enjoyed). Im thrilled i got to fulfill a childhood dream
Thumbs up and I just subscribed :) I LOVE the names of your cats (my 2 favorite Hobbits). Also, I breathe yarn, too.
That’s awesome 😂
Girl, this is terrible! You need to move to Europe. We have 35+ days of paid vacation and, you know, trains ;)
Hope you could get a bit of a rest in the end..
Where are you? In Switzerlan we get 20 days unless you're over 50ty. Than you get a week more
I am so open to moving to Europe some day. If I get an opportunity, I’m taking it 😂
@@baumwolke2078 Luxembourg, banking sector.
@@BreathingYarn Keep an eye out for those ;)
@@nadiarogo4511 that sounds not bad 👍 must admitt, I don't even know the details in my own country as I 'm selfemployed and thus payed holidays don't exist for me. But of course when you work overtime you can swap that to additional holiday-days too, that I'm sure of.
Absolute nightmare! Be sure to look into getting compensated from the airlines. Legally they owe you a bunch and you're definitely going to have to chase them for it.
Not me reading the text wrong and thinking you said a kid got murdered and me being like that's not the turn i was expecting haha
😂
Yeah as someone from England the idea of ONLY 15 days off is mental 😭
It’s mental to me as well. I’m amazed because 15 days is considered “good” and most people I know have the same amount or less. Im glad I have my 15 and not 5 like my sister.
OMG, I would have lost my mind! I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I'm sure it made finally getting home just that much better. Did you guys get your luggage back?
Thankfully we did :)
Hey!! Okay totally unrelated (ps just found your channel today and I'm watching all your vids while I'm sick + knitting my Portobello Sweater), but what mic do you use 👀
DJI mics, it took a while to save for them but I’ve been really enjoying them
Also, I hope you feel better soon!!! 🤒
Im guessing you guys were at Mille Lacs? I'm sorry you got stuck in the Crowdstrike fiasco. What a nightmare!
That’s a really good guess! We were not all that far from Mille Lacs
Wait did you get your luggage tho?
Thank goodness yes we did!
You were there with a loved one, had sufficient funds to not sleep in airport, and you didnt lose your job. Girl youre winningggg
Agreed. We were lucky we had family in the area.
omg not you pulling out the cumulus when I am literally working on my cumulus while watching 🥰🪻
Twinning!
@@BreathingYarn loved your green! I’m using a dusty rose 🥀
