Love those new seats, and the colour really does set the car off - great when a plan comes together 🍾🍾 and great very easy to understand vid of the refrigerant fill, which now reminds me that I need to do mine 😊 I’ve just gone through transmission oil and coolant changes over the last 2 days - both of which weren’t without dramas, but got there in the end! Great commentary again, and as always, keep ‘em comin’ 👍👍👍
@@JAYREAD Look forward to it👍👍 now just in the middle drilling out a rounded bolt - another nice challenge 😁 if it all went smoothly it wouldn’t be as much fun 😁
The button you refer to should in theory adjust for tilt/height Jay. I owned a 986 S twenty years ago, and being 6’3” I used it a lot, otherwise I looked over the top of the windscreen 😂
Agreed. The only way you’re going to get that to work (assuming the previous seats had height and rake adjustment) is take it to a specialist who can change the physical plugs to get them to work. If not they can plug in and talk to the ECU and enable the software so it will talk to the seat once the physical connections are fixed.
The seats look great now. You might need to check the air con I a day or so. I topped mine up last year only to find my rads were shot and needed replacing! I noticed you need a replacement sunvisor vanity mirror cover - I just picked up a cheap replacement (copy) on a well known auction site for less than £10 delivered! You really can’t tell the difference.
Wow! I am MASSIVELY jealous of those seats! I really wish I had sport seats in my 996. Yours look great! In my car, the controls you asked about move the seat bottom up & down, so maybe if you get that working, it will solve your roll bar clearance issue. Nice work on the A/C! I did the same on mine right before the big Rockies road trip with James M. It made a huge difference.
@jay the gauge moves with the pressure and temp, as the temp goes up so does the pressure of the refrigerant. good that there was some in there, as this is a good sign that the system is fairly intact! The lever on the seat is for the height adjustment and you may need to be sat in it as its quite springy. the colour combo is very nice keep up the good work!!
Seats look good, wonder was the mystery button for lumbar or perhaps bolsters? I might change my cabin filter now you’ve showed me where it prob is on the 997. Glad you got the win.
Smashing job Jay, got to love those rewarding easy fixes. Maybe somebody out there can refurbish those old seats? I see Iain Tyrrell do it all the time (Tyrrells Classic Workshop). Looking forward to part 2 of the roof fix. 👍🏻
Thanks for the video Jay, the low level of refrigerant is due to a leak somewhere in the AC system. This must be located and repaired or you will be in the same situation in the future. You might want to try a commercial sealant, they can be helpful. Hopefully just adding refrigerant will get you cool for the summer. BTW, The seats look great!
Hi Jay I have a 996 C4S with the same seats. If you sit on the seat and pull the bottom seat adjustment lever upwards and proceed to press your weight into the seat, it will go down in height. Alternatively if you pull the lever upwards whilst not in the seat, the seat will go upwards in height. Hope this helps 👍🏻
It was hard to see what you were pointing at but I think the button was height adjust. I’ve got sports seats with 4 way adjustment and that is for up and down. Wondering if you need to wire that function in as well? Did your old one have electric up and down?
@@JAYREAD I wonder if it has got something to do with the plastic but you took out. It would make sense. 4 pins and 4 movements. Might need to wire up the 4th pin. Just a thought. Love the content
Nice work, Jay! Any chance you could source door cards from the same seller where you got those seats? That might tie all of the color differences together nicely such that they look like it was that way from the factory. Just a thought.
Was having the originals totally repaired and new fillers not a cost effective option. You can find folks who can match the worn leather look even with replacement leather sections?
Did anyone mention what that button on the seat does? Sit in the seat and pull it up it raises and lowers the seat. It does it mechanically not electrically
Love the look of those seats! Great job. Now I’m going to try myself. Thanks for the great channel you provide!
My pleasure! Glad you are enjoying it!
Excellent video. Love the enthusiasm. Inspiration.
Oh thank you! More coming if you like that….
Nice work, ticking each jib off successfully. Look forward to seeing more progress
Cheers Pat!
Love to watch. Please produce more. It’s a lot of work to make content and I appreciate your work. Cheers 🥂
Thank you! Glad to have you along! More coming soon! I have news about the 928!

It was a good day! Most excellent Jay. I did the upgrade many years ago also, very rewarding. Keep up the good work.

Good show Jay. The convertible debacle will be a distant memory. You charging the a/c is literally cool👊🏻👊🏻

Ah! So this lever should work electrically?
@@JAYREAD indeed it should Jay. Easy fix I reckon.

Yes, I think I may have a leak. I’ll check it. There’s a few things that need replacing. They’ll all be done!
Nice seats! I have those in black in my 996.2.
I'm pretty sure your's are reupholstered, but seems like a really good job.
Thanks!

Maybe! I’m going to attempt dampers / shock absorbers / struts (I never know what to call them) soon! That’ll be a gamble!

I’m told that is for seat height. Doesn’t work though. I’ll be doing the cabin filter in another video soon. I have the part.

Well done Jay! Were those seats re-upholstered? They look fantastic. Well done
Thanks! No, factory. Just great condition.
I figured swapping out the seats would be a major challenge but they went in a lot easier than I expected...basically plug & play!
Yup! Easy!
Nice work, Jay! Any chance you could source door cards from the same seller where you got those seats? That might tie all of the color differences together nicely such that they look like it was that way from the factory. Just a thought.
They don’t have them, I’m afraid, Tom. Looks like an upholsterer might be the only way. Or I I could do them?
Looks like your next project might be restoring the headlights…? Try the Sylvania kit. It’s brilliant.
They are most definitely on the list!
Nice job. Don't forget those leaking valve cover gaskets.
I can’t figure out how to do those actually. Can’t find any information on how to do them. Might get a guy to do that!

About the same except now I have the sports seats so this was cheaper.
Did anyone mention what that button on the seat does? Sit in the seat and pull it up it raises and lowers the seat. It does it mechanically not electrically
As I said when you bought the car, it was cheaper to buy a car in better shape. But we would have missed these videos... therefore, thank you.
That was always the point! Thank you!
Did you end up fixing the door card upper leather? I seem to have a similar issue. Looks like water seeped in and damaged the leather over time.
I did! I got it recovered by the same chap who fitted the soft top. He even sprayed it so that it matched the other leather. 👍
