The signature sounds like it's right up my alley and the technical performance seems to be just right for the price point. So yeah, between the Athena and AR5000, is the $90 premium of the Aune worth it? Thank you! P.S. I actually would've wanted to get the HD600 into consideration as they are obviously legendary and are also dynamic drivers, but where I am, they are priced too close to the Edition XS (around $330) for me. Hi! Are ar5000 good enough for mixing? I’m choosing from sh hd 600 or ar5000. What I like about auna is its impedance. I have a really cheap sound interface (around 50$) and I don’t really think the hd 600 would work fine with it. Although they say that hd 600 is one of the best neutral headphones for mixing, frequency response graphics show that they are quite similar and even more ar 5000 are more neutral at bass and mid. So what do you think?

Been a long time since hearing the DT 770 Pro 80ohm. I don't recall much to be honest. The AR5000 is excellent for games and movies, very impressive staging and imaging capabilities.
Even though it's a different driver technology, I'm interested to know how these compared to the FT5s, especially in timbre accuarcy, soundstage dimension, layering and imaging. Thank you!
FT5 has a fuller sound, slightly warmer, heavier note weight, better detailed, better resolving. AR5000 has little more forward mids and treble, thinner note weight, wider stage. FT5 has a slgihtly more natural note weight accuracy, timbre is similar. FT5 has better depth and layering. AR5000 is sligthtly better with space and separation. If you like a more airy stage width, depth and layering the AR5000, if you like a slightly more deep and heavy type of stage the FT5.

How do they compare to the $300 Moondrop Para? Both are reviewed as very good. I would love to add both to my collection provided they sound a little different. Thanks Dave! You Rock!!!!

Comparison between IEM and headphones is very difficult. LCD-X is a clear and significant upgrade to the AR5000. But the LCD-X takes more powerful source to sound good.
So the cable jacks into the headphones are 3.5mm TRS? I didn't hear you say if you did. The pads are hybrids? Suede & faux leather? Real leather? I hope the connection into the ear cups are 3.5mm TRS.

The AR5000 is similar in details but better resolving. The Luan is slightly warmer and thicker note weight and that might make it more pleasant to some.I prefer the AR5000 but still love and recommend the Luan.
Hey Dave, may I ask about drivability on these running off an Apple Dongle and the new Macbook Pros? Will both of them drive the headphones perfectly fine? Thanks.
I'm quite torn between this and the Sivga Luan. My concern is that the AR5000 might lack the treble and bite that gives you that shivering sensation. Which of the two would you recommend?
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thank you! This reply and your reviews definitely helped - I pulled the trigger and ordered the AR5000. 😊 All that’s left is to find an amp - I intend to use it with a balanced cable, so I’m considering between the Yuki, FiiO K7, and K11. Do you have any thoughts on which would pair best? (btw, I'm really curious how will their closed SR7000 headphone perform which they are about to release)
Really interesting headphone! I love my Aune S6 DAC/amp so probably I will pull the trigger on these. How does this headphone stack against something like a DT880 600 ohm or a 660S2? Consider that those are two of my favourite headphones and that I use EQ. Thanks😊
Keep in mind my DT880 600ohm is modded for balanced. The DT880 600ohm is much harder to drive, is slighlty better detailed and resolving but isn't as pleasant to listen to as it is more aggressive presentation especially in the uppers. 660s2 is more natural and neutral, has a more controlled, accurate presentation with better bass impact and fuller note weight through out; stage is more layered and imaging is more accurate; better detailed and resolving.
*sigh* Yeah, you made me spend 300 dollars. But I'll say money well spent. They're very good and positioned well among the HD600, Sundara, and the Harmonicdyne Zeus in my collection. Thank you for the recommendation.
How do you compare them? I have the 600 and Sundara. I find the mids are just a tiny touch hot and subbass weak on the 600, Sundara has a touch too much treble and a touch too little mids, bass is great, technicality is good but less cohesive than 600. is the Aune the best in between these two for tuning? It looks almost as neutral as it gets, even the 560s has that shout peak.
@mikafoxx2717 On my end, the AR5000 are the warm flavor between the 2. Bass is better than the HD600, but for my taste AR5000 aren't bright enough, and I thoroughly enjoy the sparkle the Sundara provide. In term of technicalities, the Sundara take the cake, although imaging-wise the AR5000 fare better in directional sound cues than the Sundara.
@@verboten8 I figured the Sundara would win for technicalities with the planar. I was just considering jumping into electrostatics and considering I have some of the most neutral headphones and IEM's.. possibly a bad direction. So I thought maybe the ar5000 could be the best new choice. Better bass, easy to drive, better soundstage than either of these.. plus electrostatics can be made from scratch and I did make and test a homemade driver. Would be much cheaper to make than buy into it.. I really do prefer the 600's treble but the subbbass is what I miss, and the slight mids suckout in the Sundara, tho not too bad. The XS everyone talks about being a straight Sundara upgrade, according to this channel is even darker than the AR5000 and less neutral.. questions, questions. The 560s tempted me but I heard oluv's recording with the shout peak vs EQ'd out and that did it for me.
Sundara is more aggressive in presentation and not as musical. The Sundara is more elevated in the upper mids and treble, has a more metallic timbre, and isn't as natural sounding. The Sundara is more intimate in stage width. Sundara is similar in detail retrieval and resolution. The Sundara leans to the analytical presentation and the AR5000 is more natural, pleasureable.
@@TheHonestAudiophileI have the 600 and sundara and this headphone sounds absolutely perfect.. love the 600 but the bass.. the sundara calls me for that, but then I lose those mids and get a little bit more treble spice than I like.. 600 is more cohesive but the technicality and bass on the sundara makes me dance easier, 600 is what I use for everything though, videos, calls thanks to the cohesiveness.
Somewhat different of a presentation, depends on what person I am listening. The S5x is more studio tuned and has a more neutral presentation. The S5x is slightly better with details and resolution and isn't as mid forward. The AR5000 has more of the fun factor. The S5x is the workhorse but not an every time listen whereas the AR5000 is more pleasurable for all occasions but not so much the workhorse.
Metal isn't a genre that I am well versed in but I do listen to it occasionally. The Fiio FT5 was pleasurable for me with metal. The HEAVYS H1H in wired configuration was good. I find I like metal on a lot of headphones actually but as I said I don't listen to it all the time.
@@roguegorilla8981 Fiio FT5, Hifiman Sundara would be good options in my opinion. Do need a bit of power to drive then though. Personally I'd use the FT5 as I prefer a little warmth and slightly less aggressive sound presentation for metal and hard rock.
I wanted Sundara, but the quality control nightmare stories put me off. I was thinking HD600, then I saw this video. Any sense of Aune AR5000 quality control issues yet?
@@TheHonestAudiophile Your detailed and accurate description of the AR5000 vs HD600 was so useful to me. Thank you. I'm buying the AR5000 through your affiliate link.
Haven't heard Meze 109 Pro since I reviewed it. If memory serves me correctly, Meze is warmer, thicker note weight but is a little brighter in the upper mids and lower treble. Tone and timber is similar, details and resolution is little better. Keep in mind, I am unable to do side by side comparison so this is based off memory.
I haven't heard the K702 in a very long time. The HD8xx that I own is slightly wider and deeper than the AR5000 but it's not a massive discrepancy. Considering the price difference, the AR5000 is competent in staging in comparison.

Disagree with hd600 that "everything sounds closer". All sounds from hd600 is far by default on some degree. Its VFXed headphones with some veil to it. All sound come from 10-15 cm from ears (it feels like it), when r70x sound straight to your head, without any "space" or "effect" between. Not many reviewers mention that and its said, while its totally there. Bass on r70x also a bit "more" on r70x than hd600, while trebble clarity a bit better on hd600, cause of elevated/peak that was mentioned, so thats why it feels like it.

Hey Dave, may I ask about drivability on these running off an Apple Dongle and the new Macbook Pros? Will both of them drive the headphones perfectly fine? Thanks.
Sorry I have no idea about Apple Dongle or Macbook Pro as I am a PC and Android user.
I'm quite torn between this and the Sivga Luan. My concern is that the AR5000 might lack the treble and bite that gives you that shivering sensation. Which of the two would you recommend?
The AR5000 has plenty of treble and on the right source you can get the shivering sensation. I prefer the AR5000 over the Luan.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thank you! This reply and your reviews definitely helped - I pulled the trigger and ordered the AR5000. 😊
All that’s left is to find an amp - I intend to use it with a balanced cable, so I’m considering between the Yuki, FiiO K7, and K11. Do you have any thoughts on which would pair best?
(btw, I'm really curious how will their closed SR7000 headphone perform which they are about to release)
@valentinvadasz2282 Yuki is a solid option but if you want a desktop setup the K11 pairs amazing.
I look forward to hearing your impressions.
Thx 4 asking this question b/c I was wondering the same thing between these two headphones
@@TheHonestAudiophile thank you!! Even my DT880 600 is balanced so I think it's the same😁
*sigh* Yeah, you made me spend 300 dollars. But I'll say money well spent. They're very good and positioned well among the HD600, Sundara, and the Harmonicdyne Zeus in my collection. Thank you for the recommendation.
My pleasure, you're welcome. Glad you enjoy the AR5000.
The Sundara is considered the value champ at this price point. How does the Aune compare?
Sundara is more aggressive in presentation and not as musical. The Sundara is more elevated in the upper mids and treble, has a more metallic timbre, and isn't as natural sounding. The Sundara is more intimate in stage width. Sundara is similar in detail retrieval and resolution. The Sundara leans to the analytical presentation and the AR5000 is more natural, pleasureable.
@@TheHonestAudiophile thanks.
@navinadv my pleasure, you're welcome
@@TheHonestAudiophileI have the 600 and sundara and this headphone sounds absolutely perfect.. love the 600 but the bass.. the sundara calls me for that, but then I lose those mids and get a little bit more treble spice than I like.. 600 is more cohesive but the technicality and bass on the sundara makes me dance easier, 600 is what I use for everything though, videos, calls thanks to the cohesiveness.
dave, would you mind checking my question from today on your Xenns Top review from a year ago?
✅
Hi Dave! do you prefer the ollo s5x or the aune sr5000? which one do you think is better?
Somewhat different of a presentation, depends on what person I am listening. The S5x is more studio tuned and has a more neutral presentation. The S5x is slightly better with details and resolution and isn't as mid forward. The AR5000 has more of the fun factor. The S5x is the workhorse but not an every time listen whereas the AR5000 is more pleasurable for all occasions but not so much the workhorse.
@@TheHonestAudiophile You are always kind and helpful, plus it shows that you have a genuine passion that you want to share with others, thanks Dave!

Any suggestions on a good wired headphone that might be good for metal. Would prefer to stay under $400
Metal isn't a genre that I am well versed in but I do listen to it occasionally.
The Fiio FT5 was pleasurable for me with metal. The HEAVYS H1H in wired configuration was good. I find I like metal on a lot of headphones actually but as I said I don't listen to it all the time.
@@TheHonestAudiophile most don't so it's hard to find something that works well with metal being that its fast paced and everything.
I haven't had any qc issues with the AR5000. I also haven't had any issues with the Sundara or HD600.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Your detailed and accurate description of the AR5000 vs HD600 was so useful to me. Thank you. I'm buying the AR5000 through your affiliate link.
@wopwops0482 I'm glad you found the video helpful. I look forward to hearing your impressions.
Hello which have more bass sennheiser hd660s2 or aune?
Sennheiser HD660s2 has slightly more bass impact but not much.
What about the ibasso sr3? Have you heard these before?
Sorry I haven't heard the iBasso SR3.
Thanks for the review! I’ve been wondering about these.
How do the Aune AR5000 compare to the Philips Fidelio X2HR?
I've not heard the X2HR since I reviewed them about 3 years ago. Here's a link to my review:

I wish you had done a comparison with the Meze 109 Pro
Haven't heard Meze 109 Pro since I reviewed it. If memory serves me correctly, Meze is warmer, thicker note weight but is a little brighter in the upper mids and lower treble. Tone and timber is similar, details and resolution is little better.
Keep in mind, I am unable to do side by side comparison so this is based off memory.
@@TheHonestAudiophile thanks 🙂
Hi , are you tested ibasso sr2? Or Fidelio X3, how compares to aune?
Sorry I haven't heard either the iBasso SR2 or Fidelio X3.
Would you say the ar5000 soundstage comparable to like AKG k702? Or hd800s?
I haven't heard the K702 in a very long time. The HD8xx that I own is slightly wider and deeper than the AR5000 but it's not a massive discrepancy. Considering the price difference, the AR5000 is competent in staging in comparison.
how about ar5000 with hd 650 ? i like midcentric vocal. which one should i pick? thanks in advance
I've not heard the 650 since I reviewed it several years ago.Very similar to the 600 if memory serves me correctly.

would you compare this to the HarmonicDyne Zeus (OG) ?
I've not heard the og Zeus in a long while. If memory serves me correctly, the Zeus is warmer, thicker but not as detailed and resolving.

Quem for do BRASIL tem um fone desse a venda no Mercado Livre e OLX.
How is the soundstage and imaging compared to para?
Para isn't as wide but has similar depth and layering. Imaging of Para is slightly more precise.
hows the imaging and soundstage compared to like R70X?
Very similar, the R70x might be a tad better but they are close. R70x is wider slightly.
Would you say these would be solid for reference work?
They would adequate at mixing and mastering if $300 is your max budget.
@@TheHonestAudiophile it's not my max I'm shooting around the 500 bucks max mark
I just can't find anything that is well built, has changible pads, a removable cable, and sounds good for editing and reference in that price point

I listen to the AR5000 more often but the Sundara is still a good headphone
Some AliExpress link to buy a good 4.4 cable a cheap price ?

A-Yoon? Thought it was Aune..
Thanks for your impressions.
Looks plasticky.
😂 it's all metal

350g is rather excessive for a dynamic 🎧
It's rather light in comparison to a lot of headphones. Maybe it's the way it disperses weight or I am just used to my planars.
