Amma, I can’t tell you how happy I was to see the recipe of vatha kozhambu podi. My mother used to make it and she passed away 5 years ago. I never asked her the recipe because I got married into a family who would not use this powder. I would keep thinking of asking her the recipe because I love it....but somehow would forget to ask her....and it did not happen.. would feel really sad.....I guess my mother sent me the recipe of this powder through you 🙏🙏

Your recipe is absolutely authentic for Tanjore style cooking. Infact, you are the very first one I see in internet showing the exact authentic one. In Tamilnadu, all the ones that I have seen make a mess somewhere in its structure. Many, indeed, many add fenugreek which is an absolute “ no “ to vathalkozhambhu. I am glad I saw your presentation.

Nadam, thank you, I made a mistake... I did not mean to say that addition of fenugreek is a NO , I meant “cumin “ as a no.

In my younger days, there used to be a simple preparation using sambar/rasam powder and adding only sundakkai/manathkkali VATTAL., rice powder, tamarind water, etc. With sutta appalam and rice or curd rice, the taste would linger on....
Yours as usual excels! Awaiting more!

Which tamilian has not relished such lunch...Kootu , kuyambu tastes divine in this vessel..You can always walk the extra mile just to taste such delicious food..Simple, yet tasty and fulfilling..Give it to me anyday , I will eat it without complaints..I was curious to know why you added tur dal to the vathakuyambu while preparing it.. Normally we add chena dal along with the mustard seeds and Fenugreek seeds before adding the tamarind extract.... Thanks.

Made this Kuzhambu today . Came out very nice. Loved it. Also ordered a medium sized kalchatti using the code given by you in an earlier episode. (I have a large one which is quite heavy). Thanks a lot.
