Rana & Najid seemed SO into it because they’re big DC fans; Suraj & Micky seemed to enjoy it more from a filmmaking/artistic/directing perspective and in comparison to the theatrical cut; Chris & Marketa still enjoyed it but weren’t as enthusiastic

There are no mustache scenes in this version because all of those scenes were reshoots. And Henry Cavill didn't refuse to shave, he was under contract with Mission Impossible.
from what i understand the superman scenes were done before the original came out , it was josh who had a diffrent vision and did the reshoots and in those reshoots henry couldnt shave it so they did the cgi

I'm a Marvel fan but I totally feel sorry for DC fans. This movie was amazing. Perfectly casted actors for the characters. And now it's over. I would love a ZSJL 2 and 3.

I am fan of both universes. I love the MCU and I love DC. I am so frustrated that Snyder didn’t have the opportunity to finish his universe especially since it was going to be so epic !
But it makes me grateful for the MCU and the fact that we got Infinity War and Endgame ! I realize the chance we have that the MCU exist and I just hope that the same opportunity will happen one day for the DC universe

I agree. I love MCU and for once I’m feeling excited for the future of the DCEU. I want there to finally be a genuine debate between which is better, the MCU or DCEU and this film might finally start that.
*The Epilogue was NOT random or fan service! The scene connects to Flash warning Bruce that Lois was the key in Batman v. Superman. Also originally Zack Snyder wanted to do three movies and the "Injustice" storyline was something he was interested. You all should probably reaction to the Injustice video game movie.*
*PS: I love the reaction of the two in the middle cause I felt like they had no bias and my reaction was similiar in that it brought out my inner child*

It's just to early to have an Injustice storyline without fleshing out Superman and Lois 1st with Man of Steel 2. They really tried to rush the storyline which should be a phase 3 storyline.
Martian Manhunter being General Swanwick was fucking awesome... especially when you realize he's been keeping an eye on Supes and Lois since Man of Steel. He's the one that checks on Supes intent, and he's the one in BVS that helps Lois Lane clear Superman's name with her investigation.

Blew my mind when I saw the scene.
He's the first one to mention Krypton as supes' home planet in DCEU, which isn't a fact people just outright know. In man of steel he was the only one who didn't even flinch during the fight. Also just gonna add something here, human generals and military leaders always do stupid stuff and make dumbass decisions. Swanwick seemed to know which would've been the right thing to do. That's like the foremost indicator of him being something else lol

I think in an interview Snyder said he wasn't sure how long this DC thing would go on for him, so he at least wanted to see his Batman and Joker interact before maybe the end of his DC career. That's why it's in there and seemingly random lol (i loved it)
I felt like it really fit tho, especially how it comes full circle with Barry coming back with the suit he had in the nightmares in BvS. It's not out of place... except for that Martha..tian Manhunter scene.. that would confuse the normies.
I looked at the prologue as one giant after credit scene. I was okay with it though I can understand some of the complaints.

The conversation between Martha & Lois was so personal, especially Martha getting emotional & talking about how proud she is & sharing this with Lois as the only other person to really know Clark. So when she changed to MM, that made no sense. If they made it so that Martha conversation with Lois got her suspicious then fair enuff but to me I think this was a genuine scene between Martha & Lois & MM was inserted here. Apart from that I loved ZSJL !!!!

Silas himself made a sacrifice as a father. He saw victor embrace his power and potential and was proud of him. He knew his son didn’t need him anymore
This is Zack's original movie that he shot way back in 2016-17 before he left because of the tragedy. WB brought in Joss Whedon to cut short this film from 4 to 2 hrs with additional reshoots.
By reading these kinda comments, i feel people are pissed by their talks of knowing little to nothing information... They don't even know zack has added only about 4-5 mins of reshot scene at the end, rest of it was he shot it back in 2016-17...

@@johnhalo8648 All I know about the film's production, Zack's tragedy and the whole process of saving the film has been looking at movie and series news sites since 2017. I know people who didn't even know that Zack was replaced in 2016 until last month of this year.
How do they still not understand that everything in this cut (except the last 5 minutes) was shot way before the release of josstice league. How hard is that to understand?

One of the things i really appreciate about Snyder is that he doesn't shy away from how powerful these characters are. He puts it on full display. And if this one proves positive enough there's almost no way they don't let him finish his story in some form. Give him his own corner of hbomax. Y'all need the fresh content anyway
Definitely true, sometimes people forget how godly strong superman is and Snyder doesn’t shy away from showing it here.
Unlike Marvel where they watered down Thor when he's literally the "Superman" of the bunch. But sure Iron Man can tank a direct blast from Mjolnir and Captain America can block his strike and throw Thor back for a couple feet away.

The Flash has bar none, the best moment in this movie. "Okay, you just gotta go faster than the speed of light, far beyond the speed of light, you gotta break the rule Barry, and you gotta do it now!" Perfectly performed, perfectly scored, beautifully shot. That is the true power of the Speedforce.

The Kryptonian computer did say "The Future has rooted itself to the present", referring to what Cyborg saw before Barry charged the Mother Box.

Seriously, he literally had to go and put the box on there, and Steppenwolf was already coming in. I got a good laugh though at how she was trying so hard to be big brain about the whole thing.
If you watch the scene carefully, Silas actually begins to walk out of the box, but at that exact moment, Steppenwolf starts tearing into the room. Silus stops walking with a jolt and then hurriedly closes the door to the room even though it would likely be futile. At the very moment the door closes, Cyborg crashes down into the room. So Silus didn't intend to sacrifice himself-he simply intended to tag the box, but ran out of time. And seeing that he was out of time, he decided to go out like a boss because by that point, he had faith that Victor and his friends would be able to stop Steppenwolf (recall the scene in the hallway a few minutes before where the two wordlessly acknowledged each other).Faith in your friends and family is one of the major themes running through ZSJL. Epic scene captured in the nuances.

It's a bit silly and something Snyder has done more than once. Like that family Zod tried to kill right at the end could have easily run away.

I have rewatched this video so many times for the guy's reaction in batman t-shirt that I lost the count. His reaction is so GENUINE and RELATABLE!!

It's not paramount's fault, it's warner bros. To give a quick explanation, warner bros wanted to do reshoots for the josstice cut but paramount made it a legal obligation for Henry Cavill to keep his moustache. Warner tried to pay for the shaving but it's not the responsibility of paramount to do anything. Paramount didn't have to do shit, especially since Snyder's vision was pretty much complete and Mission Impossible: Fallout was an S tier film. Warner is responsible for that whole fiasco

The only thing that Snyder added was the Joker stuff at the end (which is a setup to JL 2).
The rest of the stuff was shot in 2016, which later got cut for the Whedon version (Snyder hasn't even seen the theatrical cut).
The scenes with MMH were new as well, plus I guess new ADR, music, editing, that kinda stuff.

A lot either wasn't finished (vfx) or sound. They put in the original score & yeah added MMH because the Green Lantern was blocked. The green glow in Alfred's eye glasses in a comic con trailer teased him. :(

I love how the biggest theme in this movie is parenthood. Something that is beautiful and heart breaking in context. I love this movie.

I don’t mean to be rude but I truly believe you are mistaken. The major theme in this movie is redemption, discovering your true self and having faith in friends and family

I think mostly I saw things like the Barry and his father plot line, the victor and his parent plot line (that culminated with the recording tape overplayed on the epilogue), the Diana and her mother references (not really a plot line but I connected it all the same), the Arther and his mother plot line, Lois and her would-be mother-in-law.
I may have read into it more than what was put there but I saw all those parenthood plot lines as ways that the members of the league finally became the league. Barry trying to have the life his father wanted for him (friends), Diana receiving the arrow from her mother that lead her to the history lesson of the races teaming up, Arthur coming to terms with his parentage and stops running away, Victor accepting that he is who he is now and his father did all he did out of love (if distant), and Lois being where she was to save Clark by getting told to live her life rather than wallow from her would-be-mother-in-law. I saw parenthood almost everywhere in the movie.
But that’s just the lens I saw it through ^.^

The joker scene was not fan service, basically Zach brought back jared leto because he wasn't sure if he would be hired back to continue the universe. And he said in a interview that he at some point wanted to bring back jared leto and have him ans batman interact, that's why he added him in the knightmare scene.

@@blackhippy47149 same.. It's been years since I enjoyed a movie that gave me an "epic" feeling. Last one was in April 2019
Barry was reversing time, he wasnt running on space he was running on ground that was reappearing. I love that Barry got more in this cut. They got rid of the scene of him and superman saving pedestrians and the line that Barry makes in the Whedon verison of pet cemetery, to name a few. It was a lot more grounded and it didn't feel like the characters were pushed in so quickly. Certain scenes made more sense once we had more context. I really enjoyed this movie more then I thought I would.
Even in this cut, Fash is not done justice, he is too awkward and they went with a too youg Barry Allen, if they wanted a youg one they should have went with Wally West.
The Saddest thing is that Flash will get completely overshadowed again in his own movie by 2 Batman, Supergirl + many others characters. The Flash is doomed to be crushed by others, he can't shine even in his own show.

Also, the final scene with Batman and Joker was not random at all. It was connected to the events of Superman's revival. The ship itself told and even showed Victor what is going to happen. And before Barry touched the mother box the ship said "Potential timeline set in present". Meaning Bruce was seeing glimpses of the future. Which makes sense considering how deeply connected his existence is to the multiverse!
The ending was setting up Superman, son of Darkside story!
Mr. Snyder knocked it out of the freaking park. And I’m not even a fan of his!

The "Do you bleed" line was Whedon's ode to the comics but it didn't make sense being in since Superman shouldn't know who Batman is or who anyone else is. Not until he sees Lois does he start to remember stuff.
I took that scene to indicate that Superman was remembering things just not all at once. He showed recognition when he say Batman; so that line made sense to me.

I just think he remembers too much, too quickly. Who Batman was & what he did to him & that he knew it was his idea to bring him back. Then when Lois arrives, he seems to somehow revert back to not remembering who she is as quickly. To me it doesn't make as much sense as what they did in the Snyder cut.
It was classic Marvel like line. Honestly it could actually fit in some Avengers movie. But it did not feel right in this movie at all.
The Staff Woman next to Darkseid is Granny Goodness, she’s basically another right hand woman to Darkseid, not like that matters now though

The Martha scene wasn't because they had the same name, Snyder said it made Batman see Superman as a human, the Martha stopped him from stabbing him, Lois said its his mom's name, made him human. Hope that helps.

Bruce starts the movie by seeing Superman as an inhuman god that needs to be killed because such power cannot be controlled. His fear is basically that Superman becomes Homelander. When he learns that Superman's mom is named "Martha," it's not the fact that his mother had the same name that convinces him to spare Superman's life, but the fact that Superman HAS A MOTHER AT AL. Hearing "Martha" is the initial shock that jolts him out of blind rage, but it's not until Lois tells him that Martha is the name of Clark's *mother* that Bruce realizes that the being under his boot is not a god, but a *person*. This theme is further developed when Superman sacrifices himself to kill Doomsday, and with the new scene between Batman and Joker at the end of ZNJL, we get an insight about Bruce when the Joker taunts Batman about how many worlds have been destroyed because Batman didn't have the cojones to die himself. So Superman sacrificing himself to save the world is doing something that his version of Batman, for whatever reason, has been unwilling to do himself. This explains why Bruce feels so much guilt over what happened in BvS in ZNJL.

His father's last word before dying was 'Martha'. So to personally it always felt like 'Save Martha' triggered his PTSD. Bruce has always blamed himself for his parents' death anyway.

The end Knightmare scene is THE POINT of this movie.
What i mean is look at when the mother boxes synchronized, even Superman was vaporized, meaning that bringing back Superman is what leads to that Knightmare timeline. Steppenwolf was never meant to win. Bruce had the dream because he's still connected to that timeline and probably still affected by the Flash time traveling in BVS.
my mind when watching barry time travel: "don't barry it can have consequences". my heart: "shut up brain, this scene is so epic".
Superman was literally written to be the perfect superhero. He is like a pocket knife with many tools. That's why he is so OP.

The fact that what superman was talking about when he said, "she was my world and you took her for me" in BvS
He was referring to Batman bringing him back which made Darkside notice them. And then seeing that from Cyborg and Flash that in the future its leads to Woderwoman getting sent to the "River Styx", Aquaman getting "rammed", GL Kilowag getting "laid out", and Batman maybe getting his "heart crushed", IS JUST WOW.
I would love if Darkseid is the main bad of Justice league 2, and for the near end of this series, it ends up being The Last Son Of Krypton. : )
But the issue is the “Knighmares” must be part of a deleted timeline, since barry already contacted bruce in BvS. So I am not sure how will we go full-on Injustice. Perhaps there will be an inflection point, from where batman will make a choice using hindsight from knightmares. But than question is why only he gets these, not superman or anyone else

Zack probably chose 4:3 so he can release his version in the future in Imax format, which isn't a widescreen format. They are working on the premise that you can show more picture not just horizontally but vertically...
Just wanna put it out there that the Snyder Cut we all just watched IS the original movie. These 4 hours were already filmed by Snyder before he left (minus the Joker scene).
Then Whedon came in and cut it down to 2 hours along with reshooting a lot these scenes within those 2 hours.
That being said, why in the world was this version not released in 2017 when it was already filmed and only needed VFX to be done. So much better!

Actually, the directors of Aquaman and Wonder Woman confirmed that they made their movies based on the Snyder Cut because the Snyder Cut is OLD. They may not have even known what the 2017 cut was going to be when they wrote theirs. At the very least, the story of the Snyder Cut was already established when DC planned the other movies.
This isn't hindsight. ALL this good stuff was what the original movie(s) was suppose to but got cut from the movie and WB had Whedon do reshoots. With Snyder, this was potentially going to be split into 2 releases, but after the suicide of his daughter (RIP) WB completely screwed over his vision. Only new footgage was in the epilogue with the nightmare/future scene with Joker and with the Martian Manhunter and Batman scene

I've watched this movie 4 times now. It doesn't feel like 4 hours even after seeing it more than once. What an amazing film.
Great reaction, and it's awesome to hear your appreciation for Zack's work. There was NO hindsight involved in this cut. This is what Zack Snyder originally filmed, with the only new footage being the nightmare sequence at the end for fan service. What we saw in theaters was reshoots and rewrites by Whedon and Geoff Johns, and Zack did not watch any of the theatrical cut before cutting this film together. He also refused to use anything he didn't film himself. And this film was always intended to set up multiple other films, such as The Batman vs Deathstroke film and the next two Justice League chapters. Snyder refused to cut anything out for this release.
I just love that Steppenwolf was wrecking every person he came across (Diana and Arthur held their own longer), but the moment he comes across a resurrected Kal-El he gets BODIED

I just think these dream sequences have been poorly explained in both movies. Even if they were eventually going to be explained, it still hurts the internal logic of the current movie
None of the things in ZS JL were added back "in hindsight". The only scenes that were re-shot are the Nightmare scene and Bruce meeting MM. The rest were already made before Zack Snyder stepped down and the direction was handed over to Joss Whedon. And then Joss were like, "welp let's bin 90% of the good stuff in this movie I bet that'll be a success".
I like this version way better, but a 4 hour movie would be a hard sell to theaters. The point is to get as many showings to optimize ticket buyers. This movie is epic and I would have gone, but it's hard to get the average person to do that. I think if anything Snyder himself would have cut it down to about 2hrs 20 mins or the studio would have done it themselves. Whedon was in a bad spot trying to please the studio wand still trying to make the movie make sense.. and he failed, but I don't think anyone could have succeeded with the amount of story that Snyder shot.. I think this is why I always enjoy his Director's Cuts because he has a vision that gets cut out in the edits. He should probably switch to doing only long form films on streaming services.

Cut out the dream sequence / martian manhunter scenes. Cut out some of the longer dialog but still keep 95% of what we saw. Would have been sooooooo much better then that garbage initial release version.

A few days ago, Joe Manganello (I know I mispelled it) claimed that they filmed a quick Batman vs Deathstroke fight test scene during the Justice League shoots in 2016.

Also lets give credit to Flash, that last moment where all hopes seem lost, Barry Allen decided that he had to run like he'snever run before, to be faster than the speed of light, that scene along with the music score when he ran to undo the time is just phenomenal, it gave me goosebump, imagine watching that in cinema. Thanks Snyder for making this possibel for us to see and thanks Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL for making such an incredible music score for this JL. I am satisfied lol :)

In the first flashback in this film where Superman is holding the cowl, that Joker card is torn in half.
Henry Cavill couldn't shave his mustache at the time because the filming for Justice League was over and he was playing in Mission Impossible: Fallout Mission: Impossible - Fallout then, and couldn't do it. Legally, I mean. It was in the contract. Like: "The actor must wear a mustache the entire time of the filming of this movie". And surely other details about the cut and the lenght. I would really like to see this clause written in black and white, by the way.
