    Why would you put more than 200lbs on a hand ratchet? That's what breaker bars and torque wrenches are for....noone in their right mind would use this to, let's say break a bolt torqued at 150lbs+

      i remember the time i had a chinese wrench on the end of a 5 foot pipe with a rust welded bolt, it ofcourse held up for a while but then i sayed "fuck it lets break a good one" and pulled out an old craftsman and it actually worked, . . .now that i think of it i didnt have much to lose cause i could have gone to smears and reafed at em till i got a free new one

    • @chaytonruijsenaars3971
      @chaytonruijsenaars3971 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      i forgot the part where i broke off the end of the chinese wrench but yea, you get what you pay for but it wasnt bad for what it was, and now it got made into a shank with a 15mm round hole wrench on the back end and it sits on my desk for me to look back and remember the good old times times in the shop i fussed and cussed hoping it would somehow help loosen the bolt on whatever home made mechanical incest abortion i was torturing for the day . . .I PIECE OF SHIT ASS BIKE!!!. . .I HATE THIS GAY WHORE LEAFBLOWER!!. . .memories

    I love my Pittsburgh pro ratchets 😃just keep them well lubricated. Mostly every ratchet cheap expensive Pittsburgh,kobalt snap on etc comes from the factory poorly lubed. As soon as I purchase my ratchets I take the time to open them clean out whatever if any of the factory lube that’s already in them and re-lube with SUPER LUBE. The key is not to over do it with the lubrication like this one TH-camr demonstrated in one of his videos. He was packing the daylights out of his ratchets in grease with a grease gun smh 🤦‍♂️ I use my finger tip and apply it just to cover the teeth and a light film on the front and back of the gear and the pawls and wherever there’s metal to metal contact. Btw SNAP ON includes a tiny tube of SUPER LUBE in their rebuild kits but I’m sure you know this,anyway don’t mind the Haters I understand why you do these videos and I appreciate that. Thanks 🙏 for the video.

    That kobalt ratchet is a great deal. $30 and it takes a ton of abuse to make it fail. That would be hard to break under normal to severe duty. Very impressed with the value you showed this ratchet has. Definitely proves that you don’t need a $200 ratchet to work professionally.

    breaking into cars is really easy XD especially if they're old. if they're like 2,000 and older you can usually get them open with a shaved key and you can even start them too LOL. but i have a newer truck, you get tired of waiting hours and paying 55$ every time you lock your keys in the car, so all you need to do is keep a little wedge 1-2" wide and a coat hanger in the bed of your truck j.i.c. and wedge the top corner of the door open and stick the coat hanger through the gap and reach down & grab the door handle and just pull it open and it will unlock the door and open it. it works best with 2 hangers strapped together because it takes a little force to open the door when it's locked, and sometimes the hangers bend. i've locked my keys in the car several times. this used to take me hours. the first time i did it it was at work... and i worked at a grocery store and it was like 10 pm and it looked like i was breaking into a car on the edge of the parking lot lol... took me 3 hours to finally open it. i can do it in 10 minutes now XD... i keep a spare key in my wallet also though even after having to do this 3 or 4 times, the shit gets old... real old.

    in my opinion if the tools break beyond their rating point then they've done their job. A $20 ratchet can work as good as a $200 ratchet. If you have to use a pipe+your body weight as leverage then you need a breaker bar.

      trouble is who will fund it? snap on are not always going to replace their items, i know ive had more than one refusal to replace honest broken tools, which entirely put me off them, in fact ive had several companies refuse to comply with their own warranty on tools i did not abuse, so i buy from anyone these days not expecting anything like 'service' because everyone is just a middleman putting 400 percent on the price of a container full from china

  • @mgreene888
    @mgreene888 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't see the point of this test. No one would ever use this tool to put their full body weight on it. Anybody with any sense would use a breaker bar. So the mid grade breaks the gears and Snap on breaks the quick release 40 or 50 lbs later for something you shouldn't be doing anyway - for 10X the cost.

    I'm pretty sure that rachets have a pounds per pressure limit depending on which one is bought. I've got all different kinds of ratchets from Duralast to MAC. I've never broken a ratchet because there are specific tools for each job desired like when loosening train wheels, you wouldn't use a ratchet if you had one big enough. why? because a ratchet has many parts and for that specific job you'd need a SOLID tool, but I guess I was taught smarter than a lot of peaople, and that is sad if that is the case.

  • @boosted2.4_sky
    @boosted2.4_sky 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any ratchet will last in the torque limits that it's designed to... meaning don't use a quarter inch ratchet to tighten your lug nuts.. don't use a half inch ratchet as a breaker bar... use a breaker bar ...
    they're all adequate to do the job that they were designed to do... so if you want to spend $200 on a Snap-on ratchet I'll spend $12 on a Pittsburgh ratchet and as long as they're both being used within the limits they were designed to be used they will both last the same amount of time...

      well it did pretty much hold your weight, i tested a couple of no-name 3/8 ratchets that probably came with cheap kits from the 80's, before china was in on it, so very likely taiwan. i got nowhere near my weight, i put them in the vice to pull on them, probably 60lbs of effort twisted off the (non quick release) solid end, it was a very soft failure, like unhardend steel. much less effort than i was expecting and you felt it going as it twisted. another no-name long 3/8 ratchet jammed inside the head using it for wheel nuts (yeah i know! lol) but at least the jam meant it got the job finished

In my huble opinion, you have cheap, best, and better ratchets. depends on how much you want to spend. right? most of rachets have decent type of quality controls. CHeap I would say. Duralast, HF, etc, Better, Tekton, Mac Tools, Gearwrench and Better of Best. SK, Snap On, Carlyle among others. Either is by money or preference and what kind of use youre going to give to the tool.
