    I have the 27 inch half inch from matco and like 5 or 6 others. I can honestly say they’re pretty damn stout and can take some good torque!!!

    I have some of Matco's ratchet's,my 3/8 locking flex head is my favorite.Do have the 24 inch 1/2 drive locking flex head as well,gets used as a breaker bar a lot and never broken it yet.Did get lucky with my 1/4 locking flex head,locked up and it was a simple fix.Took the cover plate off finding nothing broken,piece that holds the pawl in came out of place.I fixed it by putting it back in place and works fine now

    I've had a similar problem with the lock on my 30". One day for absolutely no reason at all I decided to tighten up the flex head a tiny bit and then I started having the same problem. I loosened it up the tiny bit and it was fine again.

    The reason I prefer them is the head on the ratchet is smaller and working on motorcycles/motocross bikes (I own) and 4 wheelers they are not huge. At the end of the day it is personal preference, and Matco guy is a small business (never had any issues). If you get down to 1 Tool vendor it will be a epic fail as they will have 100% control and will do whatever they want. The more competition the better it keeps things honest.

    Chad--The reason some of your subscribers said they already had them is because they look similar to another brand, Rennsteig, which are also German-made.

    I do want to get the comfort grip Matco in Orange just have not as my hard handles have served me well. Most likely trading in my Snap-On ratchets as I never use them and got no need for them.

    You I know not for nothing I was I thinking about making that same purchase on the 3/8 and 1/2" drive long Matco's only do to the fact that we know they are not a everyday consistent go too ...I did pick up the 1/4" awhile back do to the same reason but there standard semi length 3/8" drive locking Flexhead I am for surely not fond nor cofident in it like some other individuals who would prefer it over the competitor brand . You know im all the way inn on SNAP-ON in that area do to fact that I absolutely do not have no issues with the locking mechanism like some others but you know there's a difference because my hands may not be as big as some others so when it comes to both designs by either brand more enough I think that is we're the issue lies with certain users but opinion wise most will say the locking feature and thin head design . There has never been a time that I have experienced that like some would say ...Were ever I've had a issue with being able to get my normal standard hand Ratchet inn ..I have always been reluctant to imediatly reach for either long double box end or extended Leng ratcheting wrench but you know everyone has there personal preference of choice to complete a task

  • @TinoR626
    @TinoR626 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    that old ratchet is a 60 tooth ratchet not an 84. Matco went from 36 to 60 and now 88. Those ratchets are made in ohio from the new plant, any ratchet with the laser part number is Ohio and not AJ.
    Also you can get a longer flex head from matco, but its not a locking flex head. If you get the 36 inch long breaker bar you can put a 1/2 head kit in. As for the flyers if you look in the top right you'll see 3 different numbers hat the region that gets that flier. We still haven't had that bogo deal on the ratchets or on the die grinders.
    Just a head up but that ratchet will make your 24 one worthless. Since I got mine I haven't touched my 24 in years.

      @@CPthetooladdict I know 2 guys who work over in corporate, one is a product manager and the other is a design engineer. As for the plant I was never told were it was just Ohio was throw around. Tho word around the water cooler is by the end of this year/beginning on next they are gonna have a lof of revamped stuff to set them apart. As a lot of the dealers have been saying to many people are getting on the truck and saying I can get that cheaper on amazon.

    Aside from the chrome do you think the quality of Matco tools has fallen off over the years. All of my 1990s era Matco tools still look and feel as good as when I purchased them. I am not sure why but over the years I have collected complete sets of chrome sockets deep and shallow in both 3/8 & 1/4 drive from all the truck brands. Cornwell SK, Mac, Matco, and Snap On. I usually reach for the SK first but I am currently on a Cornwell kick as of lately. The only thing I can say is that when I feel a nut slipping I can reach for a different brand that has just enough difference to fit the fastener.

    • @prevost8686
      @prevost8686 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      bill beckett The Matco of today is not the Matco of the 90s. Their boxes are still well made but their hardline tools of today for the most part are not up to snuff compared to their older stuff. Back in the late 80s- 90s their impact sockets were as close to unbreakable as you could make one.
      I still buy a little from them but not like I used to. It’s mainly out of necessity due to the lack of other tool reps in my area.
