I have two moissanites and several diamonds (both lab grown and natural). Moissanite is a gorgeous stone - and being almost the same on the Mohs scale they are hard enough to withstand daily wear - so are great for engagement or wedding rings. I think it’s very hard for most people to tell the difference between Moissanite and Diamond. There is a slight difference the sparkle - moissanite actually sparkles more than diamonds. If you’ve always wanted a big 2 or 3 carat sparkling engagement ring, moissanite is the way to go!
I have all 3 as well. And I love Moissanite. It's just difficult to find a good supplier or company who sells what I love. May I ask your Moissanite seller recommendations?
I have a one carat marquis Diamond that is my wedding ring. It’s 34 years old, I love it, but wanted a change up for my anniversary. I chose a two carat Charles and Colvard moissanite, that’s a beautiful ring, that I chose over a Diamond, when I tried it on, I fell in love with it, and kept it. It’s in 14kt gold, I has intended to buy a lab diamond, after doing some research, but the ring I code is just gorgeous!
Moissanite is more resistant to chipping than diamond are they are larger by carat weight and have a higher refractory index. They are more durable and sparkler than diamonds so you decide.
I absolutely love my moissanite ring! We decided to go with a 3.5 ct pear shape, lab diamond halo and lab diamonds on the band. The contrast of the moissanite with the diamonds is absolutely stunning! I also filmed a YT video, if anyone is interested in viewing. Happy ring shopping!
Fun fact, just to flex cuz they was downplaying people’s ability to differentiate between the two. Everytime they showed a comparison I guessed right which one was moissanite. I did my research on moissanite and diamonds before going out and buying jewelry and deliberately chose moissanite cuz moissanite has more fire, brilliance, and scintillation than diamonds meaning moissanite tends to sparkle more. The easiest way to visually tell the difference side by side, look for which stone shines the colors more intensely meaning you can see them better like a laser show (moissanite), diamonds tend to shine more softly and more so flicker kinda so the specific sparkles don’t last long and aren’t as intense. Also look for the color in sparkles. I could be wrong on this but I think they actually have the exact same color variety in the sparkles, but this I know for sure, moissanites are more visible. For example in moissanite you could see colors like red and purple more clearly than diamonds
Another important factor is the CUT. If the faceting is done in the ideal proportions it can vastly affect how fire and scintillation the stone exudes.
I have 2 very significant moissanite pieces and the only moissanite I will use in my jewelry is Charles and Colvard. I did extensive research before purchasing the stones and Charles and Colvard moissanite is the only one that met all if my requirements. And yes, they are the original manufacturers of moissanite so they have the experience to make a top quality stone.
I bought 4 carat total weight diamond earrings I lost one I paid $4000 for them I’ll never spend that much money on a stone again moissanite is the best way for me to go I got 4 carat total weight at a great price if I lose one it’s not so bad I’m staying with moissanite thank you for this video
Hi have you heard of HPHT diamonds? Their real eartgmined diamond that has high temperature and pressure. I bought a 15 carat off white HPHT diamond for $130.
If you want a less flashy looking stone Old European cut is a good one. It's a round cut like a Brilliant but it has larger facets and less of them. It's my favorite cut for moissanite.
The disco ball you are not nuts about may be the double refraction of Moisonite . It produces colorful sparkle where diamond is a single refraction and not full of colors as is the moisonite . ( 40+ years a goldsmith)
I see how QC here might be better but Chinese Aliexpress moissanite items are quite good. It is cheap to produce and western companies tend to inflate prices. It's only about branding and QC.
Are lab diamonds and lab moissanite at the same price? Because i was checking at a jewelry and lab diamond 2 ct vvs1 was around $1200 and the moissanite was $1170, or the diamonds price went down or the moissanite price went up...
i love moissanites but i could always tell the difference in pictures. For some reason moissanites looks cloudier/ more flat white in pictures. I know it sparkles more but is that really the only visible difference?
I love moissanite. My daughter got an engagement that's mois. On the sides where to other stones.. I took one look at it and said the other stones are diamonds. She said Mom how did you know that they are. I said they did that to charge you more and I can tell by my eye they don't look as good. Moissanite puts out a bit of a color dispersion that diamonds don't have.
I'm with you 💯%, I adore moissanite, too. The loose moissanites will be ideal for treasure bottle/vial pendants, I mean, the possibilities are all the more endless.
Thank you for these videos I've leaned so much about mossinite. My question is, when purchasing a mossinite by a well known company. Should I ask for certification? I'm tod it really doesn't matter . Ty
Moissinate diamonds are stunning. I have one looks great that I purchased. I have a real small diamond 💍 ring. Real diamond 💍 and moissinate diamonds can't tell the difference. I personally like the cubic zirconia. Some look as good as my mother's engagement 💍 ring that is a diamond 💎
Cubic zirconia?!!! That's like costume jewelry, it looks cheap af. And there's no "moissanite Diamond". They are two completely different types of stone.
Thank you for the video! Quick question. My gf wants to replace a lost diamond from a ring with a moissanite stone. What brand/manufacturer/website would you suggest I use? Thanks.

I love my moissanite. It has unending fire and I am more practical that if I can just acquire a stone that fits my budget that has more fire and as durable as rubies and sapphire, why should I spend thousands of dollars for a natural diamond to show off? I am not into the after-investment. I just want a fire on my fingers that as almost hard like diamond that will last for a lifetime without hurting my pocket
I received one in the mail today and I have no idea why and who sent it to me. Is this weird or what? Tried to locate sender and there is no phone number. Can anyone give me any info>

It has tiny black lines rest of the characteristics of moissanite explained by you and others people are same but I just want confirmed either moissanite has black lines etc or not so get rid of doubts either it's fake or not because when I bought from a guy he showed me hardness tester it was 9.2 something. So can anyone guide me?

that is such a naive statement. Moissanite is its own stone and should be sold as its own stone ,like a ruby is or an emerald is. Is a bmw a fake Mercedes?
There are many coming from India that are yellowish or greenish. Greyish from China. Sorry but moissanite is so much more lively than diamonds and I think this lab grown product is superior to natural diamond
Yeah, the mark-ups on Moissanite are just insane overall, and if you end up with a Moissanite that has an imperfection within it, usually needle-shaped, that type of flaw doesn't occur in mined or lab-grown diamonds. If you've proposed with it and she doesn't know, most jewelers have updated diamond testers which will tell her, if she decides to get it cleaned or tested. Eventually, lab-grown diamonds will become even cheaper and guys waiting to propose or buy, should just wait and get something that doesn't look so much from outer space. Or at least get it from a brand which offers a lifetime warranty on the Moissanite. (search it out.)
My question is: Why make comparisons? Surely by now, with so much knowledge available, an intelligent choice can be made. Moissanite, by now, is a beautiful stone in its own right. How about just appreciating them for what they are and stop pitting moissanite against diamonds? Other 'white' stones include Herkimer diamonds, White Topaz, White Sapphires, cubic zirconia, Danburite, Goshenite, strontium titanate, Swarovsky Crystal, Zircon, and Fabulite). Yet, you don't hear or see anyone comparing any of these to diamonds, do we? Coincidently, I own all of the aforementioned stone, yet would never compare to diamonds (including moissanite). You are correct to point out that the source is important. Also in future, please investigate the pronunciations before recording: Sir, you mispronounced Henri Moissan's name, and madame, you mispronounced Mohs (scale). I own both, and love both for their respective features (Diamond and Moissanite).
