I think the stigma and judgement mostly come from people who have/want a diamond engagement ring. I have a moissanite and I love it, but I am ashamed to say I’m not as loud and proud of it as I should be… after this video though… I feel more emboldened thanks to you

My husband bought me a princess cut moissanite ring, had it 7 years, still so awesome, was probably around $1400.00,looks like 15,20 thousand dollar ring, love it like 1st day we got it!!

$1400 if natural wow your ring is more then ten thousand dollars minimum if lab created still worth more than you paid a 8mm lab mossinite last year was I think $1500 and that's just the stone if he paid 10000 for a diamond ring your mossinite would fetch more at pawnshops the truth is buy what makes you happy and it will gain value. Here's the question if I offered you a $15000 diamond ring would you trade for it ??? Seriously what would your honest answer be? Always curious about question like that I have heard people say I would never sell a Ring it was my grandmothers just wanted to know values for insurance and the moment I tell them they are ready for the check way to many times and yes I do buy them but that is my business I have to source materials and make jewelry and some Gems you just can't find the quality anymore so buying antique or vintage yes a great source

There are no natural moissanite sold in jewelry stores. It’s all lab grown.

I love this video! As a longtime moissanite collector I'm often disappointed in videos that fail to make the proper distinction between moissanite and diamonds. They're such cool stones! And to be able to pay a very reasonable price for a stone that is colorless or near colorless *without flaws* is amazing. I have an old European cut Elongated cushion solitaire that is a 2.8 carat visual equivalent and I am obsessed with it. Your ring is gorgeous on you!

You are delightful! Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Back in 1995 when my late husband asked me to marry him he wanted to design my rings himself. I agreed as long as the center stone was a white sapphire rather than a diamond. More than a few people were horrified.🤷🏻‍♀️ But I loved it. You’re absolutely right that each person should choose what is right for them and not be pressured.
Moissanite…be still my heart! I’d harbored dreams of diamond earrings, big sparkly ones, since childhood but the prices…ugh. Them back in January I noticed a spectacular pair of earrings on a customer at work. When I commented that I’d never seen such beautiful diamonds she quickly pointed out that they were moissanite. I’d never heard of it but dove into researching the moment I got home and fell in love. Ordered a pair of earrings just like the diamond ones I’d always dreamed of but they are so much prettier! Sparkle just makes me happy! Since then I’ve added more pieces and will no doubt end up with a whole collection one day.
Congrats on your engagement! May you have many happy years together😊

This is such good information regarding Moissanites! My ring was “lost” at a well-known jewelry box store (long story) during a simple maintenance visit and I was having trouble finding the exact diamond to replace my recreated ring. I bought a moissanite as a “temporary” stone for my ring and I LOVE IT! So much that I may not go back to a diamond. I find myself asking, “WHY are we spending so much on diamonds when moissenite are just as beautiful if not more so?!” I agree with everything you said in your explanation of diamonds vs moissanites and I’m glad the younger generations are discovering the scam in the cost of diamonds, the retail mark-up is criminal. Just my opinion.
    And, your ring is beautiful.😊

I have a wedding set I got 30 years ago and it’s a 1.5 carat VVS2 color D and I love it but I decided I wanted another ring recently and chose Moissanite equivalent to 2 carats and well the problem is, it looks way better than my diamond!! I too am obsessed and wish I had known about them 30 years ago. I do think I’ve convinced my future daughter in law.

This information was great, and you're HILARIOUS. I loved my ring, however now I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT. So grateful. He bought me a ring and noticed a few things about my comfort. He studied how I wore it ( I NEVER TAKE IT OFF). I love silver. He got 925 silver with a BEAUTIFUL HUGE moissanite. He gets a 10/10 for the setting he chose (925 silver mixed with rose gold). The inner eternity band spun and the moissanites didn't go fully around the band. This caused me to always have to "fix it". He noticed that, and replaced it with a full moissanite eternity band. An already beautiful ring now PERFECT. Every time I look at it, I feel special and cannot wait to be his wife. 💯❤️👑🙏🏾😁 💍

Love that I no longer feel the need to "leave the diamond at home" for safety and don't care who knows its moissanite...after 30yrs I have nothing to prove to anyone! My husband and I got engaged after 3 months together, we just knew. We started looking into rings after about 2 months together and I asked him to get me a moissanite )he wanted to get me a diamond, but I assured him that I truly wanted a moissanite). This was back in 2005 when very few people had even heard of a moissanite. He got me an oval stone on a platinum band (looks the size of a 1ct diamond equivalent). It's one of the OG Charles and Colvard stones, so it has a greenish tint in certain lighting. Moissanite has come such a long way since 2005! I'm so glad that more people are getting it. I now have a "colorless" forever one in a larger oval stone. I still love my OG, but the colorless is much nicer.

I said no I highly doubt it'll matter to her because she's not like that.

I agree with you and your content! You ring is stunning!!! Had I known about moissanites I would’ve picked it. I opted for lab diamond vs. natural diamonds. Now With resources and the internet research , we have more options in picking and there is nothing wrong with that! My fiance and I went ring shopping together. Lucky for him I had no idea what I wanted but started looking and told him what I’m happy getting. He got me a ring that was a good happy medium and encompasses what we both wanted and I couldn’t be happier ❤.

I've watched quite a few and this is the best video I've seen on moissanite and engagement rings by far! I don't know much but I resonated with a lot of things you said - diamonds are largely a scam, the kimberley process is a scam, and the entire industry has been a scam from the beginning.
Also love the quick scripture seed planted in the beginning, congrats to you and your fiancee/husband!

    I would love a part2. I have questions!
    - what do you think about sparkles of round vs oval cuts
    - what are the differences between ice crushed and brilliant cut
    - should I worry about the bow tie effect in moissanites?
    - is moissanite easy enough to make that there are many companies that make them or there are only small numbers of companies who can successfully make them?
    - if there are many companies making them, is there a regulation or standard for quality or cuts like the GIA for diamonds?

I so agree with you on the diamond part, hence why I've sold mine and will be creating my dream ring with a moissanite!! They're equally, if not just as more beautiful than a diamond and you're not saving your whole life just to buy a ring that you love.
I see it now as, the ring should be what you love and represent you opposed to what it is.
Also, I appreciate the end clips of you showing the moissanite in all lightings!!! Soo many videos but yours is by far the best, so thank you! X

First off congratulations that's an extremely beautiful ring.
Second, I totally agree with you about diamonds and moissanite. That's why I chose a lab color stone, alexandrite(due to it changing color between my three favorite stone colors.) with moissanite side stones. I'm so happy I chose lab created stones that sparkle as much as they do. My husband surprised me this Christmas(2022) with the ring I really wanted years ago.
Thank you for posting this video. I learned more about the side stones in my ring than I was able to find in other videos.

definitly the most informative video Ive seen. I thought it was funny when you said it's not a cheap stone, because I know you can get a decent moissanite ring from Amazon for under $50 and Im just curious how a C&C moissanite stone compares, can a difference be seen with the naked eye. Also, I wish someone would talk about alternative stones (sapphire, ruby, etc) which can be had dirt cheap but still look beautiful and are very durable, and look better than a silicone band.

@@melc4308 ya I've been learning more about diamonds too. Watched a video from Bonnie jewelry and turns out the 4C's aren't actually a good way of valuing a diamond because the color/tint/reflection of two identical diamonds can be completely different so you have to look at them in person to make sure you aren't getting a dark diamond. So this is also gonna apply to moissanite and I was looking at the $25 ring I bought and now I notice how dark the tint is.

I love the size that you picked out. I see a lot of people getting bigger rings because they’re more affordable for moissanite. However, bigger does not look better. Whatever size is on your finger looks amazing. It looks classy and not bulky. I love your ring, so simple but elegant and just stunning! Thanks for educating me about moissannite, didn't really know there was a just (or nearly) as hard alternative to diamonds which have always been problematic with false prices and ethics. I think people's aversion to lab made gems might be due to scientific illiteracy, not understanding it's not the same as other synthetic materials and foods/food chemicals where it can be better ( and sometimes quite important) to have the natural version. Geology is different, a gem is a gem.
Here in Australia those worried about ethics used to be able to insist on Argyle diamonds mined in our own country and use fair trade or recycled gold or platinum. However now the Argyle mine has closed I'd been wondering what those that wanted to be able to get pleasure from their jewellery because of having clear conscience would do now and in the future. Sounds like moissannite is a good alternative many will be happy with. I'm wondering if it will hold its value? I figure people want it in other jewellery, not just engagement rings.
You seem to assume everyone knows, but I've found it's amazing how few people know about ethics and sustainability in the jewellery industry so maybe you could talk about that more in the future. Non profit organisations and charities have done a reasonably good job promoting fairly widespread awareness of these issues in the clothing industry but no one seems to be pushing awareness of their bad practices in the jewellery industry so the more people educating others about it the better. Especially as so much money is made on the back of human suffering from products that aren't essential for human existence, they just give pleasure. I think more people would not get pleasure from their jewellery if they knew about the misery and exploitation involved in their production.
I'd be happy to hear more about that and other gems and precious metals and anything else interesting about the jewellery industry that you think people aren't aware of or would like to learn. And pearls maybe too, getting ethical pearls can be really difficult. Although if you can afford the top quality expensive ones here in Australia you can buy white South Sea pearls from Western Australia. But not South Sea Pearls with other colours as so far I've not heard any evidence of fair trade practices in Philippines, Tahiti, Myanmar (Burma), China etc. where they're cultured. Japan now cultures its pearls offshore in China or other Asian countries.
You didn't mention pink diamonds, I don't know much about them but have heard they can be quite popular but guess problematic in same way.
I'm always, always interested in curly hair videos as well!
Thanks for the pleasure of watching you again in a TH-cam video, I won't repeat why I love your channel and keen to see more on TH-cam as I put that all in my comment on your previous video about getting your new puppy. So please go back and read that if you haven't seen it. 😀❤

Hi Stephanie!! Thank you so much for this wonderful comment and taking the time to watch my video🥰I definitely agree about your comments on ethics and sustainability, I just do not feel I have enough factual evidence to explain to people! Perhaps I will research more and do a part two including that information! I also have not looked into pearls much specifically, but it is something I definitely would love to learn more about!!!
I would love to do more curly hair content! Maybe my updated curly hair routine would be good? Thank you again for being such a wonderful supporter. It is appreciated more than you know!!!❤🥺

@@julia_zaniewski Your welcome. Since I wrote that comment I found out that they're still selling Argyle pink diamonds, well here in Australia, but their online stores probably reach everywhere in the world. However as the mine closed a while back stocks will eventually run out and will get more expensive I presume closer to that time. So I'm guessing moissannite would be a better option cost wise still, especially if wanted for engagement rings as most would want the traditional non-coloured look.

I really like your visuals for the carbon vs silicone carbide. I need those visuals. Also, I love how you actually presented valuable knowledge on this topic. I wish you hadn’t said “I’m not smart enough to talk about here”…and instead would have said “I’m not going to waste your time talking about engineering stuff in a video about engagement rings.” You’re clearly very intelligent, well spoken, polished, and a hardworking. Our bodies don’t know the difference between jokes and serious comments. Keep making videos! I just subscribed!
