Honestly, differentiating between a diamond and moissanite is easy for regular people, assuming that you're looking at a moissanite relatively up close. If you look at any moissanite, you'll never see the distinct black arrows of their so-called "hearts and arrows" cut. The double refraction of a moissanite prevents the viewer from seeing the cut design clearly, because the light refracts to blur the image. @@akiray8247 Eh, not many people have ever seen an H&A diamond seeing as they represent only 0.1% of the cut grades handed out. For most people if it sparkles its a diamond or a CZ, if not a CZ its not a diamond. Even GIAs excellent cuts aren’t H&A just cuts with bare minimal light leakage and good symmetry, H&A comes from the P2 & P3 facets and the angle in which they are cut (40.70° for P3 and 41.70° for P2), the meet point of the facet (the arrow tip exactly meets the girdle) and the symmetry of the P3 facets being exact. I have seen many precision cut Moissanites that display perfect or near perfect H&As and when turned on the table show the black H&A pattern. The way to tell, other that pricing, is what you said but not how. You put it table down on a line drawn with something and because its doubly refractive it will create a mirror effect and create 2 lines.

I've been married for 42 years. With subway crime on an all time high in NY, I decided to put my 2 carat diamond ring away for special occasions. I decided to buy a moissanite and lab grown ring to compare for myself. I decided the lab grown looks really good but for the cost I kept the moissanite ring. I feel okay wearing the moissanite ring everyday. I exchanged the 2ct lab grown ring for a 1 carat anniversary band that goes well with my diamond engagement ring. If you want a fiery sparkle piece of jewelry that looks like a diamond without the cost, take a chance and try moissanite.
@@vanabarnwell5081 Smart girl!! I’ve heard of people that have huge stones also do the same thing and leave the real thing in a safety deposit box. Whether it’s a promise ring or a huge 10 carat rock it usually has the same sentimental value no matter the size 💕
I bought a ring online, vendor said it was Morganite. I thought it's color was dark, but, for 60.00, worth a shot. Immediately knew it was no Morganite. Went to a jeweler, he said it was Mossanite, a good one!! I had no idea what it was. Moissanite is a natural stone, who knew? It is huge, and wow!!! What shine, sparkle!! I got a good deal, cuz they had no idea.....it is 6 carats!! Big!! And I am happy, will never buy a diamond again!!
The only down side is on the jewelry store side. The can’t sell their diamonds because Moissanite is very hard, and if cut correctly, it’s just as beautiful as a Diamond. I’m shopping for a Moissanite.
Moissanite was first discovered many many years ago when a meteorite was found on Earth, so originally it comes from outer space but because it comes in tiny amounts when meteorites fall into our atmosphere. It then is lab grown using the same ingredients to create a Moissanite
I got my first moissonite a few months ago. It's gorgeous. My mother had the same size and shape diamond ...I use to clean it so I know that my moissonite looks just a bit better than her diamond. And cost WAY less.
Here in LA there have been so many recent thefts and muggings that I wanted to get something that I could wear, instead of wearing my expensive diamond wedding ring, without fear of it being stolen - a "stunt ring" if you will. So I buy a Moissanite ring. It's SO GORGEOUS I can't even believe it. I am head over heels over it and wear it all the time now. Diamond sits in the safe.
"hey you! Gimme dat ring and youll be on ur way no problems" That is absolute terrible logic. As ur laying there, bleeding out because you were shot, drawing in the same attention with ur "stunt" ring, im sure ur going to be thinking "oh thank god my actual diamond ring is at home, phewww" and not "wow, i might as well have been wearing my beautiful worthless real diamond ring anyways". You dummies are turning moissanite into the new CZ. Please, Stick to getting ripped off and go enjoy ur $500 wedding ring ur husband spent 20k on and keep it out the safe, for gods sake.
@@slik4032 imagine sounding but hurt over a jewelry comparison video. Although their logic doesn't makes sense considering moissanite draws more attention than diamonds, the stunt ring would make you more of a target in LA.
@@RobandSijay And them stealing it means they still stole something of immense value, this comment is an example of everything that's wrong with this society, it implies that moissanite isn't valuable when it's actually nearly as valuable as a diamond.
I'm wearing a beautiful wedding band with 5 gorgeous moissanite gems. The sparkle is to die for. I have several high quality diamonds in 3 shapes but none of them sparkle like these. I have bought seven moissanite rings and earrings and all but one (princess cut) have dazzling sparkle.
I have a dark gray Moissanite and it met the expectations that a black diamond failed to show. It being dark only makes the sparkles prettier/higher contrasting lol
I love diamonds however I cannot afford them. My engagement ring is a 1.15 diamond and it is beautiful but after that one investment I always bought CZ’s. THEN………… I bought my first Moissanite………… I immediately could tell that there was something special about it. The fire, the brilliance, how I got lost in the stone while looking at it. There was just this hypnotic effect it had on me. I bought my second Moissanite and it was just as captivating. I will only buy Moissanite now. My husband says there are the 4 C’s of Moissanite but 5 C’s of diamonds. Cut, clarity, color and carat weight of Moissanite but Cut, clarity, color, carat weight and cardiac arrest after you see the price of diamonds. LOL.
Do not also forget that many diamonds are blood diamonds where they are mined by exploited labor by young children and often get beat up and killed for not following a quota, Mossianite is more humane in terms and is more environmentally friendly since diamonds take up such a huge chunk of land to be mined on
But lab created stones can be unethical if you consider the laborer and how the industry still produce emission. You should carefully choose the company who produce them if your concern is about ethics
The #1 downside of moissanite that wasn’t covered is that they change color on you over time. My first moissanite was purchased about 18 years ago and it acquired a greenish tint over time. My second moissanite is a 3 carat Charles & Colvard purchased about 6 years ago and it too has acquired a yellowish tint. I love the idea of moissanite but it gets expensive having to constantly replace your stone because of the color changes.
That's unfortunate. I know people that have moissanite rings for YEARS and they never had issues with their gemstones. I do believe that the gemstones grown in labs now are far more superior than their older counter parts.
My mother has had moissanite for decades, and it looks as if she bought it yesterday. I would change the place where you're buying your moissanite and make sure it's moissanite fire
Definitely prefer Moissanite to Diamonds, I don’t want to look down at my ring and be like which poor soul mined their fingers bloody to find this for labor worth pennies 😕 Sorry Marilyn Monroe Moissanites are a girls best friend now lmao 😂
Comparing moissanite to moissante is there a difference depending on the laboratory or manufacturer? If so, what are those differences and how does a purchaser identify them?
The prices of diamonds are outrageous. With all of the reproductions out there like moisInite, (I have never seen one in person), I think that I would like to try one. Mind you, I have never worn an artificial stone by I am very impressed with this particular stone. Pretty soon we may not be able to even buy milk and bread, I have had my share of diamonds over the years, I am ready to try some other gemstones. Very interested in Aquamarine and Apatite.
I think he tried his best to protect natural diamond. But if you can't really tell the difference unless you take it to a lab. Real natural diamonds are going down.
Hi there. I've recently bought 2 moissanite rings and I'm very impressed by the brilliant shine and quality and you can't really tell the difference between a diamond and moissanite. I've also read that moissanite gem is only found in a meteorite in space and not in the earth as the diamond. And because the moissanite is very rare to find that's why the scientists decided to create it in a lab. In any case I'm very happy with my moissanite rings.
PLEASE ANSWER ME My problem is I want to find a good place that will have good moissanite because just to see I bought some cheap ones and they both have certified moissanite certificates and stuff but one is blue and one is white so if I got a real engagement ring, how do I know which place to go to that will have the best moissanite and not an ugly fake looking blue one
Very Informative video 🤙 At the end of the day there’s no downside in Moissanite 🤙😁 1st: I don’t find more sparkle a downside coz when is it more beautiful is a bad thing? 2nd: in terms of Durability yes Moissanite fall little bit shorter but there many factors on it, Like Toughness: Moissanite is more tough coz it don’t have a “cleavage” And also Moissanite can withhold more when it’s on fire So Moissanite is not as hard as a Diamond BUT Moissanite is more Tough than a Diamond.. 3rd: I’m not a Fan on “Mining’s” our Earrh suffer enough already from us Humans, atleast on Moissanite in this way we can be shining like the stars above in a eco-friendly way 🤙😁 “If you want a gemstone that sparkle like a star?-then get Moissanite coz Moissanite is truly from the stars” 🤙😁
You do realize that most all elements are from stars right, including all the elements that compose diamonds. Any element heavier than iron is created in supernovas and the like. I also would think that the average gemstone wearer is more concerned about having their gemstone scratched rather than whether their gemstone will be okay if they were set on fire.
I'm really curious about moissanite vs white sapphire. My boyfriend and I are ring shopping and want to go the budget friendly direction. I'm sold on Moissanite, but he's started looking into white sapphire too. Thanks for the great information!
Both are beautiful stones and you couldn't go wrong either way! Coming from someone who owns both: sapphire is more fragile but it's not really a fragile stone in itself so either wouldnt hurt. Moissanite is going to be more fiery and brilliant, as well as it can shine through dirt better than sapphire so you wont have to clean it as much. Sapphire does lose its shine if you dont clean it regularly and becomes dull but nbd if you dont mind that! I chose a moissanite engagement ring and couldn't be happier, it's so sparkly and throws so many rainbows.
I have been following this channel for a few years now , they truly have the best information , I believe there is an older video where he compares , shows and talks about the differences between a Moissanite and a white sapphire , pretty sure the video also showed natural diamond too , I think it was a comparison of all 3 , white sapphire is not as durable as Moissanite or diamond , it also doesn’t throw color like a Moissanite or diamond , it’s also cut differently and has a different kind of sparkle ! Still very pretty also , just depends on what you like ! Hope this helped , if you go back to older videos, I’m sure it’s still there ! Hope this helps ! 🥰🥰
This whole video is like a response to the job interview question, "What is your biggest weakness?" All of these cons made me more certain I don't want a diamond ring!
I have been researching Moissanite for several years. Since many companies are offering Moissanite other than just Charles & Colvard and most purchases are made online, virtually sight unseen, it seems that It’s more difficult to know whether you are getting a quality gemstone or not. I have seem a carat Moissanite from $5.00 to $800. Both will say that the main stone is a D colorless stone, VS1 or VS2, and mounted in 925silver. Needless to say, the $5 purchase is going to be disappointing. How can I assure that I’m getting a stone as close to perfect as possible?
my luck has been buying at a price I'm comfortable paying. Anything "too cheap" im not wasting my time on. I've purchased some 5 and 6.5mm ear rings online for around $60 a pair.
This is informative 👌 i came here because im a diamond collection and now that i heard of moissanite i am now starting to sell my diamonds and will go for moisaanite instead
Thank you so very much for all of these videos! After a lot of research and your help I have finally narrowed down my choice. I just sent in a request for a quote from you. I'm nervous but feel confident in my stone choice and in using FAB!!
@Joe Blows you’re the only one sounding mad . If you’re so stuck on diamonds being superior what are you doing posting comments on a video about moisanite you f*cking fraud ?😒
@Joe Blows All lies. There are plenty of women who rather have that money placed in actual investments than waste it on a rock that someone's bloody fingers had to dig from the earth for way less than you've paid for it. Nice try.
@Joe Blows what's the point if you can't even tell the difference unless you're an expert? If you're so set on diamonds there are lab grown diamonds. They are exactly the same as mined diamonds and much cheaper. But if all your partners cares about is the price of the diamond then I feel bad for you Btw, diamonds aren't as rare as you believe
@@sabrinamerrick1271 I can tell the difference between moissanite and lab grown. You will not see hearts and arrows in moissanite. Moissanite will also fail the test with a loupe.

I have all of them . Tiny CZ because they look so real.. 2 to 3 Carats of moissanite because they look good and the quality, plus want fade. Now favorite is Lab Grown because it's a diamond but less expensive.. Real black , yellow or blue is SEXY. I got them all . Plus spinel stone and White sapphire
I spoke to a jeweler today and they said that a moissanite was exposed to heat (through changing prongs or resizing) that the moissanite will be damaged or chip. Is this true? Also, where can I find a reputable place to buy a moissanite and will it be a gem that will last forever/lifetime?
What the jeweller told you isn't correct. Moissanite is very heat resistant, and it can even withstand house fire. The person you spoke with was either confused moissanite with cubic zirconia, or trying to discourage you from getting moissanite (moissanite is affecting the jewellry industory with its affordableness). Cubic zirconia is the one which can't withstand heat. If you try to get a cubic zirconia ring sized or get the stones tightened, there is a big chance that CZ will melt or crack. Jewellers usually don't want to work on CZ jewellery for this reason. It says: "Can moissanite take the heat? While many gemstones don't do well with heat, Moissanite has an incredibly high melting point of 2730 °C, which will withstand a jeweler’s torch during resizing or repairs to the ring setting."
Let me rewrite this comment. I am older 58. I never take anything lightly. However, I also am the type of person that walks into a place picks out exactly what I want and leaves within minutes . Between these must needed videos to better educate. And working with Wesley that had an abundance of patience. We put together the perfect ring set for my union to a childhood sweetheart. This will most definitely be an heirloom that I'll be so proud to hand down . No controversy ethically morally correct . Much prettier than the diamonds that we looked at. Most most importantly you do you . Do not listen to everyone else ! Confusion 101! Follow ones own style as Michael suggests many times. Buy from the best and you'll not go wrong. They're are lessor quality's of this gemstone .
The real question to most people is how much money do you have to spend on jewelry lol. I love moissanite, I’ve upgraded all my jewelry from cz’s to moissanite and i just ordered a blue moissanite set of necklace, bracelet, and eternity ring. I love that its a real gemstone of it’s own and I don’t mind that its lab made and cruelty free I do prefer, its fire and brilliance is beautiful, and the price is amazing!
glad he made it to 10:00. was so close. thanks for watching, thanks for subs, thank for sub, and thanks for watching and this video was made by me and me means I did it and also means it's my head on the screen and if you noticed this video was about gems and gems are stones and stones can also be a band...
Is there any natural moissanite? What is the price per carat at presenr? How does it look in the rough form? Like glass and weightless? Any transparent colorless stone giving so much fire and double refraction could be taken as Moissanite?
10 to 20x more expensive for a diamond that is ALSO VERY COMMONLY made in a lab as well. I feel that should've been stressed in your video... as that could be misleading having people think every carat of diamond put in jewelry nowadays is coming from the ground, which is certainly not true. To add to that, there's no difference between a diamond from the ground or one from the lab other than where they came from. Same exact properties, because they're both actual diamonds. Doesn't matter if it's CVD or not. If anything this only makes Moissanite make more sense to purchase for the average person. Honestly, imagine spending tons more on a diamond with less clarity, less refractive index, & less shine just to say it's a real diamond instead of getting something that can shine better than a VS diamond at a significantly lower price. Blows my mind any would pass up on Moissanite as apart of their daily wear jewelry.
They have Stockholm syndrome and too concerned about what other people think. I have moissanites and diamonds. Moissanites are a better choice in looks and price.
Moissanite diamonds are stunning. I purchased one. Good news it is less expensive. Real diamonds are very beautiful but very expensive. Then you purchase what you can afford it. People should not judge you if your choice is. It's all about what's in the heart not particle diamond 💎 you buy your loved ones.

Great information thank you very much I have one and a half carat vvs1 moissanite stone can I put that in the setting and will it take the the fire when they set the ring
I say, why compare the two at all? No one is comparing moissanite to white sapphire, white topaz, danburite, herkimer, crystal, etc. All of the aforementioned are clear stones and genuine jewellery. Just wondering, Alaskana
The only people who still buy diamonds are people who don’t know what blood diamonds are. I’ve been to the other side of the world several times. I would never spend my money on a diamond, no matter how much richer I get in my lifetime. And Any woman who doesn’t understand that has no business being a relationship with me.
I went with moissanite because they're low cost and pass a diamond tester (depends) I order some pieces from Harlem Bling VVS D color moissanite excellent cut they say they're real too, not sure if they're naturally sourced.
I bought a 5.5 carat moissanite for 22€. I inspected it at 10x and could find no inclusions. It is colourless and very precisely cut and polished. The stone is from a Chinese vendor and took a week to arrive. Of course no one would believe that I could possess a diamond this big and astonishing. That would be priceless!
Hi. I'm new to your channel. I'm a JTV customer. Love most if there stuff. My lab created diamonds are more sparklier than my diamonds. I get more compliments on the lab created rings. Mia Donna - the biggest bit of trash being sold to mug punters next to Better than Diamond. Jeez - CZ's with a diamond coating - means you're being asked to pay $100's for a $2 coated CZ. If you're genuinely looking for a diamond replacement - then don't waste your time with anything other than a Moissanite. Just be careful about what you're being asked to pay as there are a lot of vendors out there trying to charge silly prices - and remember China now makes Moiss which is just as good as Charles & Colvard but at a lower price point.
My husband bought me a 1.7 ring for Christmas this year I'm in love it's big and shines more bright than my diamond does. My is set in yellow gold 14 k. It's beautiful I cant express how beautiful You cant fo wrong with this stone.
Moissanite is a gigantic CON to the diamond industry, who's bullying marketing tactics made a guy feel obliged to spend "two month's" salary on his fiance's engagement ring. I say concentrate on an outstanding gold ring setting and get a moissanite. If you get a moderate sized gem, no one will ever guess whether it's a diamond or a moissanite.
I think you could have gone into more detail on the history of moissanite with Charles and Colvard and how India flooded the market with extremely good quality moissanite for a few years. I have a 5ct white rb moissanite that I paid under 50 bucks for, well actually I have several moissanites you can't find in a jewelry store. The moissanite is dirt cheap to produce but your makret has been trying to regulate the price of moissanite again. Sadly I see charles and colvard quality has declined since their patent expired. I no longer buy moissanite on ebay but it was a real great option 7 or 8 years ago
Thank you for your post. I am new to the world of moissanite, other than Charles and Colvard are there other companies that sell these stones? I want to try out a smaller stone and yes also one without the high price of C& C. initially. Thank you again.
Moissanite is an entirely different gem stone from diamond (or lab grown diamond). Moissanite is made of cilicon carbide. It was originally discovered by a Novel prize winner Dr. Henri Moissan (hence the name "Moissanite"). It was discovered at a meteor crater in Arizona. Natural moissanite came to earth from the outer space, originally.
@@nicco6951 You are welcome. Moissanite is a good alternative to diamond (or lab grown diamond) if you like the brilliance of moissanite. Moissanite is more reflective than diamond. It is kind of cool that it originally came to earth because of meteor.
lab grown Moisanite should be in price between the lab grown diamond and the natural, as is the lab grown version of a lot more rare stone than diamond. The diamond industry would be even more in troubles if they recognize that. If you find a natural moissanite of 1 or 2 carats, that's millions of dollars right at the spot, no questions about that
Ig I’m the only person in the world that thinks mossinite has a plastic fake look to it like cubic zirconia lol after getting a custom pendant made out of diamonds and another made of mossinite the difference is clear to me
So I personally dislike excess sparkle and fire because it looks cheap to me. I prefer diamonds color H-M. Lab or mined. I think moissanite is ugly & I can tell with the naked eye by looking at a ring if it’s moissanite or not. It’s the reflective index that gives it away. I just bought a 3.0 ct L diamond today.
This can be summed up very easily in hard nosed ,straight forward intent. Moissanite is gorgeous. The fire is unmatched. As far as hardness/durability...beryl and corundum (rubies, emeralsd sapphires, etc) range from 7.5-8 to 9 on the mohs scale.Less hard than Moissanite. So,if you have no problem with wearing emerald or sapphires as far as durability, then you have no argument against Moissanite. Cost.Hell yes, they are cheaper Delightfully so. To get a beautiful gem as cheap as they are,to go with diamond instead is simply a prestige thing...because diamonds dont have the fire,...they are ridiculously expensive,... and flat out, have nothing on Moissanite. Ive collected gems and mineral crystals for the last 37 years and have around 600 specimens. And NONE can compare to Moissanite (and yes,I have Moissanite as well).Prestige is a ridiculous thing to base a purchase on. Beauty and durability is what its all about, and Moissanite has it all.

I don't think that new ones do that.

Good questions.
The prices of diamonds are outrageous. With all of the reproductions out there like moisInite,
(I have never seen one in person), I think that I would like to try one.
Mind you, I have never worn an artificial stone by I am very impressed with this particular stone. Pretty soon we may not be able to even buy milk and bread,
I have had my share of diamonds over the years, I am ready to try some other gemstones.

At the end of the day there’s no downside in Moissanite 🤙😁
1st: I don’t find more sparkle a downside coz when is it more beautiful is a bad thing?
2nd: in terms of Durability yes Moissanite fall little bit shorter but there many factors on it,
Like Toughness: Moissanite is more tough coz it don’t have a “cleavage”
And also Moissanite can withhold more when it’s on fire
So Moissanite is not as hard as a Diamond BUT Moissanite is more Tough than a Diamond..
3rd: I’m not a Fan on “Mining’s” our Earrh suffer enough already from us Humans, atleast on Moissanite in this way we can be shining like the stars above in a
eco-friendly way 🤙😁
“If you want a gemstone that sparkle like a star?-then get Moissanite coz Moissanite is truly from the stars”
🤙😁
You do realize that most all elements are from stars right, including all the elements that compose diamonds. Any element heavier than iron is created in supernovas and the like. I also would think that the average gemstone wearer is more concerned about having their gemstone scratched rather than whether their gemstone will be okay if they were set on fire.
Akira Y Moissanite is second in terms of hardness so the only thing that can scratch it is Diamonds 🤷♂️ which is very unlikely to happen

I'm really curious about moissanite vs white sapphire. My boyfriend and I are ring shopping and want to go the budget friendly direction. I'm sold on Moissanite, but he's started looking into white sapphire too. Thanks for the great information!
Sapphire is more fragile.

My only concern about moiissanite is the durability during the years, if it is going to look foggy and loose the shine
Is moissanite different from lab-grown diamonds?

If you find a natural moissanite of 1 or 2 carats, that's millions of dollars right at the spot, no questions about that
One problem with moissanite set in 925 silver is the smaller stones can fall out the prongs quite easily

Moissanite is rarer than diamonds?

We are feeling they are scamming us. We can't find a phone number for them. We sent several emails, no response back. Please help if you can
Sorry to hear about this. We've never heard of them. Hopefully they delivered on your order.
How do you clean mossinite with oil slicks?
Dish soap and warm water
Thank u
@@coolout9440 I have a Moissanite bypass ring and I have tried everything to remove the oil slick, but it returns time and time again. What causes this and what other options are there to get rid of this?
@@lauraodle5816 Windex. Yes, I know, it sounds like a joke but soaking the ring in a bit of windex with Dawn dish soap will stop the slick.
@@yvellebradley2502 Thank you very much! I really appreciate all the advice from my Moissanite lovers ❤
How do we know if the moisanite is real?
Great information without diamond biased 👍🏾
Are these stones, like lab created
stones?? Price for 1 caret?
Moissanite is actualy more resistant to chipping than diamond. so with hardness being practically the same, i would say moissanite is more durable
9.25 and 10 are not "practically the same" it's a logarithmic scale. They're actually pretty far apart. That's why moissanite is tough. It's not as hard and brittle.
@@Jake-bt3fc true, but I say practically the same because the only other thing (that I'm aware of) that can scratch moissanite is diamond so it would have almost the same likelihood of getting scratched as diamond
