NEW REACTION!!! I know what you're thinking. We've watched this before. BUT, its a whole new group of reactors!!! Are you looking forward to this journey? Who do you think is going to like the show the best?
Also check out our new commentary channel!! www.youtube.com/@NormiesAfterDork/videos
To be clear you are NOT watching the full Manga. The first half of the manga is beautifully condensed in Brotherhood. If you're curious about the first half of the manga go back to the first Fullmetal anime and check out the alternate ending to this series.
watch mirzapur 3 trailer
Thanks for the clarification!
@@warbird333the first half of the 2003 series isn’t very accurate to the manga either. I don’t know why people keep claiming this. Yes there are a couple of brief stories in the manga that are covered in 2003 that are not in Brotherhood, but the details and order of events between 2003 and the manga even early on can be wildly different.
Any Fmab reaction is an instant dub. Now we just need a madoka magica reaction

New group of reactors, new reaction? It makes sense. There's an equivalent exchange joke to be made here.
Helps having such a large group. It's not the same boring three guys one episode a week.

Just so you know: SOMETIMES there will be post-credit scenes that aren't previews, I'm hoping someone knows them off the top of their head and can let you know which ones to look out for to remove the doubt, but if not then always watch a LITTLE bit after the credits and stop if you hear the narrator's voice because that means it's a preview
More specifically: episodes 6, 8, 28, 29, 30, 32, 33, 36, 40, 42, 43, 44, 46, 48 and 49.
I trust Siraj and the normy gang would tell them everything they need 😅
NO SPOILS BRO LET EM FIND OUT
He literally explained the entire second episode minutes before they watched it....makes no sense.
He was doing so well and then out of nowhere spills it all.
Sigh fr
Yeah wth don’t freaking spoil it spidey!
Lol, right?! And he did so well when they reacted to the little voice coming out of the "robot" and then he goes and blabs 😂🙈
It is not as simple as "you gotta sacrifice someone else you love as much". Equivalent exchange states that you must sacrifice something of *equal value* to make something else. For example, if you wanna create a spear of iron of 1kg, you need 1kg of iron for that. The problem with human transmutation (that is also stated during the monologue) is: what could be the value of a human soul? Even if you find someone you equally love as the one you lost (and that by itself would be pretty much impossible to measure), do these two people sould have the same intrinsic value in the universe? Can we say that is an equivalent exchange to sacrifice one life to bring back another?
And whatever your creating must be similar in composition. You can turn the iron into a statue, but you can't turn it into water.
Not when it involves truth. What does it mean to "sacrifice your leg" to know the truth or "sacrifice your arm" to bind his brother's soul to armor? (Spoilers below)
What does it mean to "sacrifice your whole body" to see more truth?
What difference does sacrificing different body parts make to see truth?
What does it mean to "sacrifice your alchemy" to bring your brother back? How is it not seen as selfishness by the truth apart (from the fact that he wasn't actually dead unlike his mom and Izumi's child)?
In every other case, I agree that equivalent exchange is more "equivalent" but not when it involves going through that gate.
Now that I think about it, this is similar to the law of the conservation of energy. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only change forms.
@DavidGarcia-kw4sf Spoilers for people who haven't seen farther into the series, just in case;
A similar idea also comes into play when using a Philosopher's Stone. Einstein's E=mc^2 describes how much energy is contained in a given amount of matter and how much matter a specific quantity of energy could be transformed into. That's how the stone works; it's an incredibly dense battery of energy that can be transformed into matter, allowing you to transmute without providing all of the matter yourself. It doesn't cheat the system, even if it may look like something is coming from nothing. No matter what, you always have to pay the price somehow, a Philosopher's Stone is just an alternate form of payment.
@@kairostimeYT The rebounds of human transmutation actually makes sense when you stop to think about it. Like, to get back his brother, his right hand man, he gave up his actual right arm.
Spoilers below

Mustang, the man who is always looking to the future, loses his sight. Izumi, trying to bring back her child, loses her reproductive organs. All the human transmutation rebounds have some cruel irony to them.
So to clarify, Full Metal Alchemist, the original, came out while the manga was still being written
The anime caught up to the manga so they had to take some creative liberties with how the show ended.
Brotherhood was then created after the manga was finished and was more faithful to the manga.
Because the original was being released while the manga was being finished, they took a lot more time with some storylines, characters and fillers.
They didn't know how the manga was going to end so didn't know which storylines were super important and which ones could be skipped.
As a result of this Brotherhood for about the first 14 episodes, many will tell you, is super fast paced in comparison as it recaps what the original took time to tell.
You will also hear over and over again, to the point of annoyance, that FMA did the beginning better because they took more time with characters.
Personally, I feel Brotherhood is the more complete package, even if they do have to shorten some very impactful storylines.
To be fair, I didn't realize King was his first name either for a long time. Throughout all of the original anime adaptation, I literally thought his full title was "Fuhrer King". It wasn't until I read the manga a few years after that, but still before Brotherhood, that I realized my mistake.
same i just through it was an eccentric title
Al really does have it the worst, from the moment you first see him and going forward he has not slept at all. Imagine your mind being active all day everyday without rest.

Yesssss! This show is still the best anime I’ve ever watched. The balance between action, comedy, and horror is incredible.
Every.single.character is well written and none are forgotten. GOAT short anime.
is 64 episodes short now?
@@derangedberger I mean...considering that *a lot* of standard Shonen anime have 100+ episodes...in that regard yes, it is lml
Fun fact... they did not in fact offer equivalent exchange for their mom. They offered our alchelmical ingredients to a human body but yeah the soul bit, however...
The exchange took Alphonses entire body and soul with the offering just for their moms body. Eds arm and leg were originally the exchange for Als soul and attachment to the armor. In brotherhood his soul was exchanged for an Arm... weirdest exchange ever if you think about it... Als soul was cheap compared to their moms body... and his leg was taken for looking through the door. This scene was nevwr explained in the original series, just that Ed had seen the door and could perform alchemy without transmutation circles.
They didn't pay anything for their mom's body, they paid their tolls as the exchange for what they took from seeing the truth beyond their doors. Ed's toll was his leg, Al's toll was his whole body. Ed then reopened the portal to retrieve Al's soul from the portal, and the toll he paid for that opening was his arm. (at least this is how it's explained in the show, there are still problems that they don't really touch, like why was Al's soul in the body of what was supposed to be in their mom before Ed ever retrieved it? shouldnt it still be inside the portal with his body? the best answer I have is that the blood they added fucked with things in ways they didnt predict)
This isnt correct at all. Alphonse never saw the Door. This is characterized by the Fact all people who have seen the door no longer need transmutation circles. Alphonse is shown multiple times trying to but being unsuccessful, hence he is shown later in series always using transmutation circles.
A Humunculus is a Human body retrieved from inside the door without its soul. Alphonse was killed during this entire transmutation with their mom. Edward paid his leg in exchange for soul transmutation to put him back. Its shown clearly in both Manga and Brotherhood. This was not the full offer however, he told the door he would willingly give anything... an arm, leg, his heart... the Door chose the arm. Im only commenting in the same episode it asks you clearly what is the worth of a soul? The willingness to give anything for it
Greed is a humunculus created by returning the human soul (comes later) to anothers body, which is apart of the plotline of human transmutation and the search to return his body.
You can't think about Alchemy as magic, it's much more science with a splash of "magic". Ed is considered so talented because he knows a lot of chemistry, biology, and science.
To put it into perspective Dr. Frankenstein was an alchemist and studied alchemy before creating his monster. Yet everyone calls him a mad scientist.
Yeah. Watching Avatar the airbender ruined the power system for them. It’s more hard magic with the idea of if chemistry was a lot easier. They can’t just make fire in the series out of thin air for attacks normally. Avatar they can, well it’s assumed the fire in avatar is more to it but whatever.
I feel like them getting into anime out of order is the issue. They watched things influenced by other things first. They went from watching modern fast paced shows to shows with filler that they skip so they have no patience in say watching bleach like they did with other Naruto. It’s like how Naruto fans compare all anime to Naruto. Jjk oh dark hair character = Naruto Saskue, scientist oh just orichimaru. Etc. see this online a lot. Makes propping up nostalgia shows easier when in reality new shows are just as fun.
this
It's science-y magic. The best kind of magic. (not really, there's other great kinds too)
Well, because alchemy was a false science. Something people used to believe for a time and some studied as alchemists, but now is known to be false.

Why do people have so much problem with multiple tones? Why cant something that is serious and deep also be funny and goofy?
May szinkronhangja katasztrofális választás volt. A magyar szinkront szeretem, ebben a verzióban egyedül May hangja elviselhetetlen .
I’m with you. I guess it’s because Americans dislike it. It’s generally a don’t in writing stories, Hollywood, literature, etc. But not everywhere in the world follow that. Anime stories (from Japan) frequently breaks this rule that Americans (and possibly others live by). There are also other forms of foreign media that sometimes also break this tone rule. I remember it used to break my heart whenever I heard this complaint or heard about this rule from professionals. As someone who grew up on anime, it was a shock to hear.
Later on though, I remember some of these same professionals would make an exception for foreign works and state it was an eccentricity unique to the foreign media. It was kinda confusing to me in my younger years, but it just shows how different media can be viewed.
I suppose, the reason I’ve heard most, for why hate different tones, is the different tones are jarring and sometimes headache inducing. Going from one emotion to the next too quickly. Many viewers expect more time to recover before a major tonal shift. It’s also just generally not how stories are created here.
The return of one of the best Dubs in anime!
Enjoy the ride!
Yeah you got vic mignogna as Edward, laura bailey as Lust, Travis Willingham as Roy Mustang, J Michael Tatum as Scar, chris sabat as Armstrong, Eric Vale as Kimblee. Just to name a few well known voice actors from Funimation days along with up and coming voice actors who well known in industry (especially know with Crunchy roll, Netflix, Hidive and Sentai Flims)
Rana @ 4:20 “this is so goofy”… words I knew she would later be eating once she was introduced to Dr Shou
Alchemy is like a more scientific form of magic, knowledge chemistry and make up of the elements, how to mix and change a substances. Heck, even stuff like cooking can be considered a branch of alchemy.
This has probably been explained and I think maybe it got mentioned in the video, but Brotherhood and the 2003 series are very different. The 2003 series started out somewhat faithful and then swerved into it's own original plot (that is WILDLY different) at the manga author's (Hiromu Arakawa) request because at the time the manga was still ongoing. It has a sequel movie, Conquerer of Shamballa, that concludes the series. Brotherhood instead follows the manga.
In regards to Ed's losing limbs: he lost his leg as payment for going through the gate and 'seeing' all of alchemy, and he lost his arm as payment for getting Al's soul back and binding it to the armor. And poor Al has it so bad as he is now: he can't eat, sleep, or even feel touch. 😢
(Also, automail are essentially super-advanced prosthetics. They are SO cool tbh.)
Dude i just finished binging this anime about a few weeks ago and im excited for you guys to experience one of the greatest anime of all time
Oh pat and spidey. Your height convo 😂 LOL
so some explanations to be clear about things
-king is bradley's first name. Yes the leader of the country is named King.
-Roy basically was given a note from the higehr ups about rumours of a skilled alchemist named Elric who lives in Ed's town. Whether the rumours were about ed's dad or about him and his brother is unclear, but they were EXTREMELY vague. He found out what they did cause he went to their house to find them (as noone told him what happened or that the elrics were staying elsewhere) and pieced it together via his personal knowledge gained through experience as a soldier and an alchemist.
-FUllmetal is meant to be a pun. it refers to Ed's metal limbs AND is meant to be derived from a japanese phrase referring to a stubborn personality. Or something like that.
Just finished rewatching the original Normies reaction to this!! Excited to see more of you react to it too

there is soo many easter eggs and stuff in the back of scenes for readers and 2nd time plus watchers i wish someone from the first time was here to watch it.
The third guy mentioned the OG 1st anime and had some knowledge of the basic premise and characters. I’m thinking he might fit what you’re looking for. He might know the beginning of the story from watching the 2003 FMA, but may not know what happens in the continued story since that part was put into this 2009 Brotherhood version. Or… he only knew the basics like I knew the premise of Monster (the anime), but had no clue that was only the first 4 episodes and there was still so much more to the story in the following episodes.
Yo Spidey spoiled the crap out of the second episode? Thats like one of the best parts of the show!

Y’all in for a ride with this one
Yes I'm so excited for you guys to react to this!
NO SPOILER ahead, just clarification that you will need and are not given afterwards: There are a few things that the first episode messed up, because fun fact, it’s true that this adaptation is more loyal to the manga, but the first episode is actually a filler, and even if it introduced a lot of things in an easier way, allowing them to skip some chapters from the manga, it also messed up the alchemy and some people don’t really understand how that works because of that, basically al alchemist can trasmutate everything the want, as long as there is an equivalent exchange for that, so you see Ed in the flashbacks transmuting a bird out of wood for his mom, we also see him in the first episode transmuting a part of the ice bridge that the bad guy created, that’s because every alchemist can transmute water, so it makes no sense for the ice alchemist to transmute only water, it’s like if Ed randomly decided to only transmute cotton just because… the only alchemist that can transmute something unique is Mustang, the flame alchemist, and that will be explained, but he can also transmute every thing else.
Also regarding Ed’s body, it’s true that he got all the knowledge the transmute without a circle (his tool was just the leg) but he is also very dependent on his prosthetic limbs (they are technologically complicated so he needs a mechanic for those, Winry), so if they get broken he is unable to do almost anything, especially if his arm breaks, since he it’s true that he can not use a circle but in exchange he needs to clap his hands to do al the transmutation stuff, and that’s impossible if he doesn’t have his prosthetic arm. Also another thing, I’m pretty sure Al is not mad at Ed because he knows that they both did the thing, like it’s true that maybe Ed did a little more, being a genius and everything, but also Al agreed on everything and helped… so they are both guilty.
Sorry for the essay, I just thought that you would have liked some clarification that the show takes for granted, especially with the things they put in the first episode

@@primepm8861He is completely wrong by every definition of robot.
Lots of people think Al's a robot at a glance. Some even think winry repaired him in episode 6
@@probablysomeguy4806 To be honest, a new viewer would think/suspect that Al is "programmed" to do certain tasks by Ed. He is not actually wrong with all definitions of robot. Oh yes, one of the best anime out there. Get ready for a ride you three, just like the others did before.
The first episode though is purely non-canon, but yeah there was an older series before Brotherhood, it adapted most of the manga up to its current point, but then diverted from the plot rather than waiting to catch up. Brotherhood is a more faithful adaptation, but it does gloss over some bits the older series dedicated a lot to in order to avoid repetition.
We now follow the story of two brothers, one whose soul is bound to an unfeeling suit of armor, another a government State Alchemist in the military dictatorship Amestris using his rank to research the Philosopher's Stone - the magnum opus of Alchemy - in hopes it can be used to restore his brother's body.
Edward is unique among alchemists, thanks to the taboo that cost his brother his body and himself both an arm and a leg (the leg for the first transgression of trying to revive their mother, the arm to bind Alphonse's soul to the armor) he gained the ability to perform alchemy without a Transmutation Circle, alchemical symbols that are used to activate alchemy normally; many alchemists carry accessories or tattoo themselves with circles in order to perform alchemy without having to stop and draw a circle. You see this in Isaac's water control, Roy Mustang's fire-starting glove, Alex Louis Armstrong's (indeed! Christopher Sabat, Piccolo and All Might) gauntlets and the imprisoned Crimson Alchemist's palms.
Yes Laura Bailey, you may be familiar with other voices too; Mustang is her husband and fellow critter Travis Willingham, Maes Hughes is Sonny Strait (Usopp, Krillin and Present Mic), and Fuhrer Bradley is the late Ed Blaycock (Fleet Admiral Sengoku).
Oh, it can get Darker, just you wait.
Here we go again🔥🔥🔥
