I reacted to NCT U Work It but it got claimed and sadly, it made my video blocked. I had to cut out most of my reaction to that music video but I tried to keep in as much as I could. So sorry about the odd editing there!
I react to the sub-units of NCT for the first time. I reacted to NCT as a whole group in my previous video on my channel. The large amount of group members intimidated me and I felt like I needed to watch the sun units separately before forming an option about NCT. I’m very happy I did as I LOVED these music videos/songs, I’m so glad that I didn’t let the large amount of members intimidate me to the point where I don’t look further into them.
The whole unit thing and 23 members is still very confusing to me so I would LOVE comments that could help me figure this whole thing out!
I’m open to react to anything so please leave your recommendations below! I’m still getting to all of your comments but I promise they are getting posted soon:)

Sadly, I will not react to that as I filmed my reaction the other day and by watching it, I saw that it included several things that wavered on the cultural appropriation line which makes me a bit uncomfortable. Hopefully you can understand :)
I’ve never seen anyone react to work it as their first nct u song before!
NCT is basically 3 groups disguised as 1, with separate fanbases, dorms, discographies, everything. NCT U is the special unit, where any of the currently 23 members can participate together to make a unique and tailor-made song and performance. 127 and Dream have 2 overlapping members, Mark and Haechan

I don't think the members would ever agree to this description though. Cause they say they are one. Remember when they were asked how they feel if NCT Dream or NCT 127 won more awards than the other, they said that the wins are all theirs.
And you never know with SM, they might switch out members to form new groups, NCT J and NCT Hollywood are coming.
@@SustaJeno I don't think it's incorrect though, because, other than NCT 2018/NCT 2020 they could effectively be considered separate groups, and they have strong solo fanbases. Obviously they aren't separate, but you're not required to stan all units, even if, lore wise and member interaction wise, that's the most rewarding. NCT are unique though, because of NCT U
Oh, and I think it's the easiest way to get to know NCT as well, seeing as a lot of people in fact find it daunting to stan such a large group! It's easy to be ot23 once you know them well enough
NCT U is a Rotational Unit. The members are chosen depending on the Concept and need for the song. Example- NCT U Misfit was a Rap only song. So the members were all rappers from 127 Dream and WayV.
So yea NCT U can have all members or just 1. For example Baby don't stop is a NCT U song by 2 members.
Also if you get into NCT. Get ready for Content almost every day. Lol

WayV - Smooth pop RNB.
Also if you love vocals listen to their B side tracks. They have probably the strongest Male Vocal line-up .

random fact, but nct has 13 (out of 23) foreign members (not from korea): japan (2), america (1), canada (1), mainland china (5), macau (1), hongkong (1), thailand (1), taiwan/germany (1). They can also collectively speak 7 languages (korean, english, mandarin, cantonese, japanese, thai, german)! Sorry this wasn’t relevant lol, but I really enjoyed your reaction and look forward to seeing your future journey!

your man was Johnny Suh. hes american (from chicago). and maybe you’re destined to be a Joh-fam, because out of all NCT U songs, u somehow pick Work It as your first, which has Johnny in it. why is that special? because...NCT U doesn’t have fixed line-up. It changes in every song, just a mix and match of members from across the units, who really suit a song. The lineup can be just 2 member, or 3, or 4, or 7. Basically at this point, each and every one of NCT member have participated in at least 1 NCT U songs. Especially after NCT 2020 Resonance, because that album literally consist of 18 tracks by NCT U, and 3 tracks by the fixed units (127, Dream, WayV).
This can make it easier, imagine NCT is a brand like Vogue Magz.
NCT 127 is Vogue Korea. 127 named after the longitude of Seoul. It means NCT 127 is the Korea-based unit, mostly do songs in Korean language. Eventho some of the members like Johnny is from US, Mark is from Canada, and Yuta is from Japan. They have some phenomenal songs in english too. And they’re the only unit that have been promoted in the US several times before pandemic hit. They even did their North America tour and it was fantastic.
WayV is Vogue China. Yes the Chinese unit. China-based. Mostly consist of Chinese line (from mainland china, taiwan, hongkong). But they also have Ten who is from Thailand. They produce songs in chinese mostly and marketed especially to China. However during pandemic they don’t really get many chances to promote there. The reason why they don’t have NCT in their name is because of the political tension between Korea-China at the time they debuted. Which is also why they are under a chinese label too “Label V”, but they are SM artist basically. And they are NCT.
NCT Dream is the Teen Vogue. They debuted at 14-17 y.o. The youngest line. Originally wasn’t a fixed unit. The initial plan was to make them graduate after turned 20 (korean age), and then move to another new unit. However, due to their popularity and fans got so attached to the original line up, despite of 1 member (MARK, who is also in NCT 127) already graduated at the end of 2018, SM finally announced that NCT Dream will no longer do the graduation system. And that MARK is coming back. They are 7Dream forever 😭 ok every nctzens know how sad the story was, not just for us but also for the members (buncha chaotic gen z boys who are loud af but cried hard as their leader MARK graduated). They have youthful summery concept mostly but they also do the hard hitting bangers.
I suggest you react to the guide by channel CLKX to know everything about them :)
Please know that it’s not as intimidating as u think. Just like getting to know 3 different groups. However there’s some repetition in members. MARK & HAECHAN are in both 127 & Dream. WINWIN is now actively promoting in WayV since 2019 but he used to be in 127 since debut (and it sucks cuz no official statement regarding whether he is still 127 member or not, so the fans keep waiting for him in 127 too tho we love him with WayV).

btw Johfam is how Johnny calls his fans, especially in his vlog series “Johnny Communication Center”. so we kinda use that term too for Johnny biased.
Every member actually have something like that too either its from member or just a fan-made one. But don’t worry, in NCity we usually have 1 bias, and the rest are bias wrecker cuz its so damn hard to pick lol. It keeps changing day by day.

The reason why wayv doesn't have nct in their name is because there is tension between South Korea and China. Korean music is restricted in China. So SM ent found a way to make a chinese unit of nct in china but they couldn't put nct in the name.
if you learn the members per sub-unit, it's a lot easier to get them down. i got all 23 in about 4 days by figuring out who was in each subunit first.
The one in the NCT 127 MV was Johnny & he is American. The 127 & U units are interchangeable but Dream & WayV are fixed units. WayV is the Chinese subunit & they don't have NCT in their name due to the somewhat fraught relationship between China & South Korea (it's complicated)!
Was Johnny the same guy that I liked in the NCT U MV too? Or am I just seeing double? And oooo okay this is very complicated but I’m slowly getting it

You're wrong about 127 and U. 127, Dream and WayV are fixed unit. U is not a fixed unit as anyone from NCT and WayV can be in U depend on the song. Example of U member.

To give you a detailed but easy explanation, please read😭 this took a while to write:
Okay so NCT currently has 23 members. They are from SM entertainment(top kpop company that basically started the whole kpop. They are a junior of EXO and Red velvet: kings and Queens of 3rd gen).
NCT stands for Neo Culture Technology
They have a concept of infinite members and SM plans to spread them all over the world. Although they have a lot of members, they do not perform a song altogether except for two exceptions which is NCT 2018(where all 18(they were just 18 back in 2018) members were present in an mv black on black. And the other was NCT’s biggest project yet which was NCT 2020 resonance. They made a mash up of their NCT U songs to perform in one mv together and all 23 members were present.
They promote in different subunits which i will explain(people usually start stanning NCT by starting with one subunit. There are currently 3 fixed subunits with fixed members. And one rotational subunit.)
1). The first subunit is NCT 127. 127 is the longitude coordinate of Seoul, South Korea.
•They have 10 members(1 member have been inactive with 127 since 2018 and has been mainly promoting with another NCT subunit) so some people will say that NCT 127 has 9 members.
•This subunit is the most promoted unit
•Their songs are very experimental and a lot are hip hop based.
2). The second subunit is NCT dream which stands for follow your dreams.
•They have 7 members(2 of which are also a member of NCT 127)
•They are usually called the babies of NCT because they were the youngest members when NCT first debuted. Their age range back in 2016 was 14-17(1999-2002). However as NCT gains more members the age line up im NCT as a whole changes too. So it can still change, but currently they’re still one of the youngest.
•the concept of their music is kind of like growing with the dream members. They started out with a very young and fresh concept which gradually matures as they make more comebacks. Currently all of them are now legal in age.
•Originally had a graduation concept where members graduate from the group once they turn 20. But it has recently been removed.
3).The third subunit is WayV(Vision) which stands for we are your vision.
•WayV has 7 members. The other inactive 127 member mainly promotes in this subunit.
•WayV is the chinese subunit of NCT.
•They are the only subunit that doesn’t use the NCT in their name(because of Chine-Korea political issue) however they are still a part of NCT.
4). The fourth subunit is a rotational subunit. It’s called NCT U. U stands for United.
•All members of NCT are members of NCT U.
•The lineup and the number of members in every NCT U song are different.
•They pick any NCT members from any subunits based on who suits the song and concept.
People often avoid NCT because they get intimidated by the number of members and some just scan the explanation and concludes that the concept is too complicated but it’s not complicated at all. And I understood their concept in one seating after reading 1 explanation.
In case you still have a bit of a difficulty in understanding you can use this analogy.
Think of NCT as Vogue magazine. Everyone is part of the same magazine/brand but are introduced as different collections.
•NCT 127-Main collection, Vogue Korea
•NCT Dream-youth collection, Vogue teen
•WayV-Chinese collection, Vogue China
•NCT U- limited/ special edition collection.
Another analogy: NCT as a school
•NCT 127 is a senior class
•NCT dream is a junior class
•WayV is a class for chinese
•NCT U is an extracurricular that anyone can enter based on their abilities and capabilities

Hi, great reaction! They're 23 members but divided in 4 units: 127, Dream, U and Wayv. NCT U is the rotational unit where they mix members from the other 3 units for a especific comeback, that's why you recognize someone from 127. That someone was Johnny, which is the one you like more i think. He's in 127. I dunno which songs have you heard so i'll recommend: "Save" and "Highway to Heaven" from 127, "90s love" and "Boss" from NCT U, "Boom" from NCT Dream and Turn Back Time from Wayv. Thanks!

U can take NCT's concept in a simpler way, u can take it as learning abt 3 different grps (127- dream-WAYV) since they are fixed units.... so if u learn abt these 3 subunits each at a time , NCT U will be easy since u know all the members already ! Hope it helps

The 23 members is NCT as a whole. NCT has 4 units currently.
NCT U - Rotational Unit. Members of this unit can change every comeback, depending on the concept. You can have 7 members in one come back or 2 on the next one. You will also notice that NCT U has no album currently but just singles or title tracks because of this set up.
NCT 127 (fixed unit, i guess) - Currently has 9 active members, and 1 inactive (which is Winwin due to being in WayV - a discussion for another day). Depending on SM, more members may be added to the group.
NCT Dream (fixed unit) - Composed of 7 members - they were literal teenagers when they debuted. They previously had a ‘graduation’ system wherein when a certain member reached the age of 20(?), they would be removed from the group. But then SM abolished the system in 2020 (thank God!). Mark was the only member who ‘graduated’ from Dream but was brought back in 2020. So when you marathon NCT Dream you might notice some comebacks with only 6 members.
WayV - is NCT’s Chinese unit. The name and branding is another topic for another discussion but basically bec of political aspects, SM needed to somehow steer away WayV from being associated with the NCT brand or SM itself (anything relating to South Korea). Nevertheless, WayV is part of NCT.

Welcome to NCT! You will not regret getting to know this group! I would recommend really digging into one sub-unit at a time to learn the members. (not NCT U because members change depending on the concept--although NCT U has some of the most amazing songs, so...) Probably watch a guide for each sub-unit as well.

I'm so glad you like NCT! I know 23 members can be intimidating, but they come in conventently smaller groups. Since Johnny really caught your eye, maybe start with NCT 127 and learn their names and get to know them and then pick another unit.
NCT has a concept of unlimited members. The idea is to make many subunits, each unit targeted at a different market. They've actually added members every year since debut (2016).
Fandom names: NCTzen (czennies/seasonies, all of NCT), WayZenNi (WayV)
Current units:
- NCT 127: debuted in 2016, the unit is focused on Korea, they started with 7 members, currently have 9 and have had as many as ten in the past
- NCT Dream: debuted in 2016, started as the under 20 unit with a concept of graduating members on to other, permanent units when the members reached 20 (adult age in Korea). The graduation concept has been scrapped, thank goodness. Two members, Mark and Haechan, are also in 127
- WayV: debuted in 2019, this unit is focused on the Chinese market and most of their songs are in Mandarin. The original, planned name I believe was NCT Vision, but because of political tensions between China and South Korea at the time of their debut, they were distanced from the NCT brand for all of 2019 and the beginning of 2020. This is also way they have a seperate fandom name (WayZenNi) and lightstick.
NCT U: debuted in 2016, I like to call this "whoever the heck we want to stick on this song" unit. Basically any mixture of the 23 members for a song that's not one of the above fixed units is NCT U. So yes, Johnny from 127 was in the Work It group 😆
There's probably a new unit debuting sometime late this year or early next year as we currently have two members without a home unit, but what the focus of that unit is hasn't been announced. Popular fandom theories point to Japan or the US (there's a confirmed survival show for a new North American member and the code name for the group seems to be NCT Hollywood atm).
If/when you react to more NCT I personally think it's a good idea to do it by unit to make it easier on yourself. Also for NCT Dream I recommend watching their MVs in order of release because you get to see how much they've grown
The change in your eyes at 8:20 made me laugh! Hello Future is truly their best title track. My First and Last is still a classic, and still one of my favorites, but I think Hello Future tops the cake. it's also just very sentimental with it being park of the 7Dream comeback

Personally, NCT has been the easiest group to learn, hands down... they all have very distinct and recognizable faces in my opinion.
I highly recommend the 3 part NCT guide that's broken into Part 1-Units, Part 2.1-Hyungs and Part 2.2-Maknaes, when you're ready for it. It's nicely laid out and very informative, however it did come out before the two newest members were introduced.

nct dream is a group that compose the youngest member of the whole NCT.They debut at a very young age which is 15.6.now they become the second group and the youngest triple million seller with just their first full length album.YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT THEIR DEBUT SONG THEY ARE SO TINY IN THERE
nct is a group with infinite concept, it has no limit on the number of members. so far we have a total of 23 members (soon we will have a new unit where it will be formed on the reality show called "nct hollywood").

127, dream and wayv are fixed units. nct u is a unit made for "mixing" members into a song. for example, two from 127, three from wayv and one from dream. or just one from wayv and one from dream. but a member of nct can be in one or more units which is the case of mark. mark is from 127, dream and u. (besides he's also from the superm. full of work, poor thing).
on nct there are a total of 14 foreigners and 9 koreans.

All of their b-sides are really good, but I would personally recommend listening to WayVs b-sides from their full album Awaken The World
And once you get more comfortable with the volume of members, i would definitely recommend checking out Resonance (if you haven’t already). NCT does year end projects sometimes with all of their current members, and last year they made a medley of a few NCT U songs from their Resonance album to include all of their members in one music video (Raise the Roof, Make a Wish, Work It, and 90’s Love). Some reactors watched that for their first time listening to NCT and it seemed to be a little overwhelming, but it’s an epic song with a great performance.

Honestly, don't rush yourself with trying to learn their names! It'll come easy the more mvs you watch. You'll slowly pick your favorites and from there recognize the others as well.
For the longest time I only knew 4/23 members by name and could recognize around 10/23 members by face when I saw them.
It's pretty easy to learn them by the subunits they're in (especially Dream and WayV since they're fixed units). I have the habit of revisiting their mvs a lot and also watching many crack videos which makes it easy to get to know their faces and voices.
It still took me 2 years to get to know all of them though and that's fine. I'm a multifan so I'm pretty busy but you can definitely get to know them pretty fast if you enjoy their music.
wayv dosent have nct in it because it’s a chinese group based in china. korea and china dosent have the best relations so in order to promote in china they dont have nct in the name and are under a different label that is under SM (label v)
Any of the 23 members can be part of NCTU, different people/groupings for each song
NCT127: currently 9 members(1 is inactive cos he's in WayV), Korean based unit with heavy hiphop/R&B EDM sound

Stan NCT for better life and future. It can be overwhelming at first but it’s actually a lot easier than you imagined. You can start with their guides and their funny montage (cherryverse has pretty good fan made videos). They run SM’s chaotic genes and it’s really worthwhile diving deep into them.

Black on black wasn’t really a regular song it was more of an intro song.
Also they make songs outside of their first languages (i made that plural bc of wayv being the chinese unit), specifically WayV and 127 focus on this aspect, for example, I think the song Regular has 3 different language versions (English, Korean, and Mandarin) and 2 videos (i think wayv’s might just be a performance vid but i can’t remember). But outside of making different language versions, 127 releases Japanese mini albums that have some of their best songs, so whether or not you react to them, definitely check them out anyways.

Okay I don't see anyone explaining this so the reason why WayV doesn't have the "NCT" in their name is because they are a Chinese sub-unit and the political relations between SK and China are...ehm...strained at best so China would not promote any group with a South Korean connection so that's why they took away the NCT label (from their original name NCT Vision) and put them under Label V which is just SM with a trenchcoat and a fake moustache

reacting to the nct units guide by CLKX Fiction will help so much i promise u!!! and it might be a good idea to do it sooner than later or u might get extremely confused w the lineups, debut dates and system changes. also pls don’t be too intimidated to learn the members take ur time. you’ve already recognized johnny rlly quick which is a feat some ppl haven’t achieved in their first listen! if u go unit by unit it’ll be easier and eventually you’ll be able to identify them 😁😁 some more recommendations:
