I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 15 years old (first year of high school). I am now 22 years old so been dealing with it 7 years now. If anyone here is struggling with this or just been diagnosed, trust me I feel your pain. It may feel like your life is over and that all the walls are closing in on you. That is how I felt every single day at the start. I wasn’t able to attend regular school anymore. I spent every day feeling sorry for myself thinking there was no hope for me anymore. But today I am working full time an hour from home. I no longer let my disease control me. I no longer am ashamed of having to go to the bathroom so much. No matter what you do or what your DRs say, you can get better and you can beat this! They told me no other option but surgery. Here I am today doing all my normal life activities.
I was diagnosed a few years ago and the doctor has me on medication that keeps it at bay. I did basically a paleo diet and stopped taking the medication to see what happened and it flared up again. What kind of diet are you on that helps keep it in control? I am very interested in finding a natural way to beat this. Also I found out when I stopped taking the medication I felt more relaxed and realized that it gave me road rage. Now they have me on a different formula of the medication that doesn't make me want to kill everyone who goes even a half a mile under the speed limit.

For all us who have UC and is listening to this video, I offer my thoughts and prayers to everyone dealing with this IBD. I know it gets frustrating dealing with the stomach issues, the uncontrollable bowel movements many times a day. Like others said, stay positive, keep your head up. I am a huge worrier and once a negative thought is in my head, it's hard not to turn it to a positive. Ive had the disease since the beginning of 2013, been on Humira since October 2013 and it put into remission for 9 years. Fast forward to now and I think it's come back. After 3 weeks, small traces of blood in 2 of my stools and constant stomach discomfort, way different from the symptoms i have when I first got it. Finally have my Dr appointment today to see what the plan is. God bless you all!

I went to the emergency room and found out I have Colitis. Over the last few months it became unbearable. I rather break a arm then have this, I hate my abdominal pain all the time.
I feel your pain. Watch Kenny Honas videos, intermittent fasting, probiotics rich foods and stress reduction are massive helps! Colitis is horrible but there’s many out there like you (like myself)
Hi Jennifer, I have a question for you if you don’t mind responding. How did they diagnose you at the Hospital? Because I went to the Hospital as well with pain in my stomach and a bloody stool but they told me it was stomach Ulcers but ever since I been having low intestinal pain and urge to use the restroom a lot :(
@@salvadormunoz647 when I went to the emergency room I had test run on me. So I went to my primary doctor and had a colonoscopy done. I had to go through different doctors and eat completely different. I’m getting use to it but I miss eating pizza, it’s a life style change for sure.

Just got home after my first emergency room visit for this. The pain and suffering is so bad. Not sure how to deal with it for the rest of my life on top of everything else have going on.
Have you received any counseling about your diet? There are foods you can avoid eating so you have less flare ups. Reduce your fiber, eat more fruit and veggies, take a multivitamin for any nutrients that aren't getting absorbed. Omega 3 fatty acid supplements offer relief, also a probiotic and prebiotic. All these things will help

I have been in remission for this disease for years in the past. You need a good doctor. If youre in nyc hit me up. Ive had this illness for 10 years now and im 28 rn. Mesalimine/Lialda was helpful for me along w only eating soluble fiber foods. NO INSOLUBLE FIBER. Every single person has different trigger foods so you will have to get to know your body. I can imagine the stress you are going through now triggered your UC gene on. I am no doctor but Ive been attending a UC/chrons group therapy for 2 years with the same ppl. I also had individual UC mind therapy for more than a year. The causes are unknown but my doctor has had a lot of individuals have it triggered on my a stressful event, which some ppl in my therapy group could clearly make a connection to.

I’m currently laying in a hospital bed and I just was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis . It have been in a course of 4 days. On the fourth day I had really bad pain it hurt to walk so I came to the hospital and I’m still here. I am on Norco’s but there’s days I still feel pain even while on the drugs my appetite is very little and I’m only able to poop diarrhea. as soon as I eat sometimes I feel pain like really bad pain or I don’t feel pain when I eat but once I go use the restroom, the pain hit me again. It’s a hit or miss with the pain but it’s terrible every time. Sometimes the Norco won’t even make an affect until an hour and a half or more later rolling around in pain and there’s nothing they can do.
@@deniserosario3087 most important thing is to never skip the medications prescribed by your gastroenterologist. Only tablets can heal ulcers quickly. Stop eating spicy, highly fibrous and processed food. That means no more Soda, caffeinated drinks like tea, coffee, energy drinks etc. Also better to avoid milk and related products till your pain goes down. It’s a slow process of healing. So don’t be discouraged if you don’t see the results asap even after following due process. Get adequate sleep, exercise everyday and try to avoid stress. These steps have helped me in having somewhat less cramps and diarrhoea and I have regained my lost weight (6kg) to some extent. Hope you recover soon. Good luck!
During my painful period, a few days ago, on days 1 and 2, I took ibuprofen… the ibuprofen caused me so much stomach pain: the middle and lower abdominal… Burning pain and some digested blood in my stool… This is ongoing for a few days now. Never ever will I take I ibuprofen again
@Anna Szabo my doctor told me never ibuprofen. Ibuprofen makes your stomach bleed. Please only use Aleve my doctor said. Ik the horror of this disease and i totally feel your pain. May God Bless and many prayers to you.
@@AnnaSzabo have you tried naproxen? Aleve? My doctor recommended me that in case of pain. Idk but it may help you. Ask your doctor what they think of it. So sad to have to endure terrible pain as that. I hope you find some relief. Take care Anna Szabo
Hi Anna, i am a nurse who suffers with UC. Advil and aleve are contraindicated for people with UC because they can actually bring on an acute episode or exacerbate one. You should steer clear of all NSAID’s whether non-prescription or RX if you have been diagnosed with an IBD. One medication that falls outside this warning are the salicylate types such as mesalamine and sufasalazine. They contain salicylates which are an NSAID but this actually helps to control swelling and inflammation associated with UC unlike the other NSAID’s which exacerbate or cause acute UC episodes.
im 15 and went to the hospital yesterday and was diagnosed with colitis. its been hell for me and i pray I get better soon but im starting to lose hope as this has been happening for 5 days. I hate everything right now
I had it as a child. Fear, stress is a factor. Could be triggered by child abuse, fear of some kind, even by financial stress. They do have medications but you must also have a stress free life which is very hard to do.
What I'm scared about is you mentioned the cancer word. I was diagnosed with IBS and it stopped this week I had a severe attack while going to work and I fainted in the bus that I couldn't talk I was very dizzy and I couldn't open my eyes for 15 minutes I was so weak I was surrounded with paramedics that it is so scary the doctor told me but I have colonitas... I'm so scared
This isnt super important but does anyone else also have this experience: When im at home I constantly have to make trips to the bathroom and sometimes live in there but as soon as I leave the house everything is kind of fine most of the time right untill you enter back into your house and instantly have to go back into the bathroom?
It depends if you prepared yourself when going out by going to the toilet before you leave. I find I get the urge when I reach the road to my house, this usually happens if I hadn't been to the toilet 4hrs beforehand.
I have this , just been diagnosed and it’s changed my whole life, it’s upside down at the moment, out of work, steroids not working, I’m being referred to immunotherapy, so I’m waiting, it’s not a manageable disorder when you are in flare up, you just have to suffer through it, some days are harder then others! Just wish I could reach the remission point for a little while
I suffer with this but my first flare up was in November and it was major causing my intestines to swell and block completely. It's the only big issue I've had so far but uts still very early days. It put me in hospital for a week and I was very ill. I get alot of these symptoms on and off mostly pain in stomach that last seconds to a few minutes or on and 9ff fir a day or more. I'm always tired, feeling sick or bring suck and gassy and heartburn alot but it's mild and dull except the first time. Sometimes it hurts slightly before I go to the toilet other days it's mostly quiet. I'm always terrified of my next flare up because the pain it comes with when it's a Big one is worst than torture. The reason I'm watching this is because because Gerd like symptoms I got before it hit me are giving me a bit of stick recently and this time I'm bot passing it off as Gerd I'm keeping an eye on it. When I was 21 had an MRI due to nystagmus, bizzare on and off migraine like symptoms and sudden and severe anxiety and general feeling odd so I also need to be on the look out as I know colitis can be a warning sign or symptom of MS in some cases.
im having most of the gut issues . Just had tests done , urine blood and stool . Its all of those symptoms above. I have pain in my knee and back too. No skin stuff
I can confirm that less stress is best cure from UC. I throw away all my stress and negativity from life after i was diagnosed, and now in my 4th year with UC i am living regular live, i do what i did before. Just dont be fooled when you feel better and dont stop use meds immediately , to this day i am using some of the meds. But i feel great and now its 3 years i have 0 sympthoms. Just be patient, less stress more smiles, chill the fk out when world going to spin too fast, chose good healthy diet, and after some time you will see big progress.
This is an incomplete list of symptoms: My most painful symptom is ulcers and lesions (aka canker sores) in my mouth. So far, I've had them for the whole year since UC flared up. They seem to be untreatable and sometimes, when bad, prevent speaking and eating.
I had acid reflux ,acidity from 15 years then slowly stomach bloating ,at the age of 25 with gastric problems, constipated then when i was 40 my vitamin D defficiency level reduced my weight reduced suddenly with backpain, tiredness, loss of appetite, indigestion . After visiting my doctor its mild flare up ask me take probiotic nd prebiotic tablet for a month . After that i started my probiotic food regularly my bowel habits changed i go regularly to toilet,no bloating,no gastric issues. Lifestyle modification is important for UC or any gastric issues
I just got diagnosed today. Ive been battling it already about 6 weeks just hard to schedule around holidays and get everything set. But yeah. Not excited for this journey. but i know ill be ok

my dad has UC, he had to take medication, medication is needed to stop the inflammation. but he also did a diet made for people with UC and crohns called the specific carbohydrate diet and that helped put him into remission so that he didn’t need the medications anymore. it might be worth looking into that diet, it’s quite strict but there are websites that help you check ingredients. sorry if you’ve already tried it and this comment isn’t helpful, but just wanted to suggest it in case it could help you. also there are a lot of bots in the comments here, please be careful if someone starts trying to sell you random supplements promising a cure. I hope you can start to feel better soon!
@@smarthustlersclub6375 sorry i think my comments are disappearing whenever I leave a link in my reply. hope this helps: the “nimbal” website has a section called “food for thought”, underneath that subheading there should be a “food table” tab where you’ll find an ingredient checker with relevant articles for how each food interacts with IBD. if you look up “scdrecipe” and go to the “legal/illegal list” on that site, there should be another similar kind of table.

So one day we saw some videos of patients who recovered from this disease at planet ayurveda and start taking there treatment along with the diet from last 7 months and now brother is totally recovered and living a healthier life
Yooo! Obviously couldn’t do the smoking bc I hate cigs that much but was always curious about it
Just got back from the ER, doc said it's probably ulcerative colitis but he can't say for sure without a colonoscopy. Medicaid only covers it if you're 45

I have ulcerative colitis/ crohn's disease. Legally they cannot determine which one it is Without sticking a camera up my bum And proving which one it is... with me they have tried and failed twice to do that.... I likely have a bad gene somewhere that is causing my immune system to be to much for my body to control.... and all 3 of us were born with Ludicrous immune systems....

I recommend if this is a natural medication that u should go to the gastro just for blood work to see if u are missing vitamins. U dont need to take their meds if u dont want to but just do blood work to see if u should be taking more supplements since UC does have malabsorption w it. I have UC
@Michael Morgan I recommend getting a colonoscopy or at least get your blood tested for T cell count at a gastro even if you do not take their medicine. No one can force you to sallow anything. Get your blood, colon or stool tested and that will reveal if it actually worked. You will show up in remission. I have been in remission before and it does show up on labs

I had a cat scan and mri done the we doctor at the er also took a stool sample( which was super gross and I kept saying am sorry). After the test the doctor told me I had a general Colitis diagnosis.
So I went to my primary doctor and had a colonoscopy done.

You have Left sided Ulcerative Colitis just like I do. I don’t sleep on my left side.
I always get chronic lower back & hip pain when I have a flare. Also breakouts on my face and very dry, chapped lips
I get terrible abdominal pain, bloated, wind blood and lower back pain, major fatigue, knee pain....now im also dealing with menapause....I've had this disease for 17 years and I haven't seen or found any new helpful I formation regarding Ulceratice Colits. I work 5 days a week in an extremely demanding role, I have no life as my weekends come along and I just want to stay home because I'm to exhausted to do anything
I get constipated too
Excellent presentation! This brings awareness to the patients to understand the disease and treatment.

Please keep hope! Not gonna lie it is hard bc you will have to adjust but just remember that during stressful periods of your life it will get worse and it will be less worse during less periods of your life.

Nice information. One of my friends is getting treated by Dr. Vikram Chauhan for the same and she is improving gradually.
I want to smack people who don't understand what we go through. I've had it for 22 years since I was 13. It has gotten better over the last five years but by no means has disappeared. So much pain tonight.
And I was told I was crazy but my lower back pain is DEFINITELY related.
How are you doing? I hope you're better now!
Hope you’re feeling better. Have you tried probiotics? Or yogurt? I heard that a high protein diet has helped out.
How are you now?
im using spirulina and molkosan wich is probiotic and prebiotic and my ulcerative colitis is no longer an issue
A cup of Greek yogurt a day also helps a lot

Good luck!

Hi bro howa rw u feeling now...
What were your symptoms
Yea, I get moments like that.
God Bless you.. such a good video... from all I have watched about this UC desease. Thank yuo...
Just wish I could reach the remission point for a little while
You got this !
Very good explaination🙌
I just got diagnosed with this painful problem it's taking over my life I lost over 50 pounds in 3 years
Good luck you’ll need it …. I was diagnosed 24 years ago when I was 7
Just diagnosed with this 2 days ago. Thanks for the information
I almost lost my life after a surgery and I had a flare and my intestines were shutting down.
Maybe anxiety from a mineral or vitamin deficiency.
LlqP
have you tried Apple Cider Vinegar for your GERD ? it works
also I noticed my GERD started when drinking coffee
im having most of the gut issues .
This is an incomplete list of symptoms:
My most painful symptom is ulcers and lesions (aka canker sores) in my mouth. So far, I've had them for the whole year since UC flared up. They seem to be untreatable and sometimes, when bad, prevent speaking and eating.
That is very well done and thx for the info. Cheers
Is there a correlation with UC and eczema?
so both chron and uc have erythema nodusaum but chron more
uc is also less pt with pyoderma gangersom
I had acid reflux ,acidity from 15 years then slowly stomach bloating ,at the age of 25 with gastric problems, constipated then when i was 40 my vitamin D defficiency level reduced my weight reduced suddenly with backpain, tiredness, loss of appetite, indigestion .
After visiting my doctor its mild flare up ask me take probiotic nd prebiotic tablet for a month .
After that i started my probiotic food regularly my bowel habits changed i go regularly to toilet,no bloating,no gastric issues.
Lifestyle modification is important for UC or any gastric issues

my dad has UC, he had to take medication, medication is needed to stop the inflammation. but he also did a diet made for people with UC and crohns called the specific carbohydrate diet and that helped put him into remission so that he didn’t need the medications anymore. it might be worth looking into that diet, it’s quite strict but there are websites that help you check ingredients. sorry if you’ve already tried it and this comment isn’t helpful, but just wanted to suggest it in case it could help you. also there are a lot of bots in the comments here, please be careful if someone starts trying to sell you random supplements promising a cure. Hey brother could you tell me about the name of medicine please ?
