      overall, I hear what you're saying, and I agree that things are getting heavy. But I think it's helpful to remember though that Nike's marathon racer not that long ago was the Zoom Streak (now pretty much only used by 5k racers) and Adidas runners were using the Adios.
      I'll take the weight over racing a full road marathon in either of those.

      I own both haha 😅😂. They're both fantastic shoes but I must say I haven't fully experienced what my Rocket x are capable of just yet. I have used my Carbon x 2 a handful of times and they're a really interesting shoe and I mostly use them for training. I ran a half marathon in them not long ago and I must say I wish I'd worn my Rocket x instead as I couldn't get out of cruise control in these shoes which they're brilliant for. I tried finding another gear and couldn't sustain faster miles in them as they're on the heavier side. I can imagine they're great for marathon and ultra marathon distances. I definitely recommend the Carbon x 2 nonetheless for training predominantly and long distance runs. Also because of the design of the shoe, heel strikers will love the momentum and support they'll get from these shoes, they almost ask to be ran that way even if you're not a heel striker.

    Still a bit put-off on the Hoka carbon shoes after he Carbon X 1. I just found it too stiff and firm for my running gait as compared to all the other carbon shoes I have purchased (VF 4% FK, Next %, Alphafly, Endorphin Pro, RC, TC). Note that I am a mid/rear foot striker. It does seem like these versions have soften up the midsole and increased the carbon plate feel, so I might try again. But there are so many options now that it isn't a priority. Also, if you need more stability, these shoes are good options. Might work better for forefoot strikers?

    Thank you for the nice compare! But, I think you're one of few who would prefer Carbon X 2 rather than Rocket X, just because that the feeling is very similar and if Rocket X is 1oz lighter, why than go for Carbon X 2? :) I think HOKA marked Carbon X 2 as the shoe for long distances meaning more than marathon, like 50M or ultra-marathons etc. and Rocket X for shorter distances up to marathon. I'm thinking to buy one of them, but still not decided. I had Carbon X 1 and was great but a bit stiff for me, but used them once on half-marathon race and did my PB :) So I have a dilemma now what to choose to try :), Now I "fell in love" with Saucony Endorphin Speed and Pro. I generally don’t convert the weights for some reason, but it’s something I’ll try to do from now on.

    The carbon X could loose some some weight by loosing that protruding heal. I see no point in it, unless you heal strike.

    Is carbon x for overpronated shoes or a sstabilized shoe?

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it has a wider base, which helps. but it is a neutral shoe.

    Carbon x2 or Mach 4? 😂🤣

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hadn't yet reviewed the Mach 4 at the time this video was made (and it may not have even been available for purchase yet), but the Carbon X2 and Mach 4 would make a very good combo. Train in one, race in the other.
