    Hoka said its for shorter distance. So, I think they mean that rocket x for half and full marathon. Carbon X 1 and 2 for ultras. 😁

      I mean, they did throw out a 50-mile race to launch the Carbon X, so you could be spot on.

    To be fair, when i do my fast runs i tend to do it on my own, and not in actual races. So it does help to have a reflector for me, since i only go for pr's when i feel in the mood to go for, and not when community races come up.

      Would you happen to know why they glued the insoles? That’s so weird, never seen that happen in Hokas before. So I thried to take them out and then realised it’s not a good idea. Now they bunch up when shoe gets wet on my long sweaty runs.

    So guys, I'm in trouble!
    I bought a pair of Pegasus 2 for my next Marathon, but...
    After 20km they hurt my toes because of the shallow toebox.
    I'm thinking to race in my Boston 8 which are heavier but super comfy...
    Should I consider these shoes?
    I'm aiming to finish in 3:45 (slow runner)

    • @Believeintherun
      @Believeintherun  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 8 could work well. Try a couple practice runs at marathon pace and see what you think.

    Bought these as they where cheap, ive the x'2s used them as my racing shoe and the X's as my training shoe....but tbh my pb for a 5k in the X2's was a 18:05 and the X'2 19:23.....there still a brilliant shoe to this day

  • @Nonixification
    @Nonixification 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Guys its just a guess but you are wearing a bit too big shoes if you have to pinch the laces so close. Also that can be the reason for the "extra room" in the shoe.
    For me this shoe seems like not a racer more like a tempo shoe, thats why got the reflectors at the back. Jeah for a training shoe its expensive, but everybody can make their own decision.
    What I dont like about Hoka is the drop, 5mm is just too flat for me.

  • @RichardWait
    @RichardWait 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To me, pull-tabs are useful only for booty construction shoes... since one needs to stretch the upper to insert ones foot...

    • @RichardWait
      @RichardWait 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@paullooper1090 for me, the pull tab was always a Hoka thing - it was an oddity of the shoe that said it was a Hoka, no material or functional need for it - agreed - but was something uniquely Hoka.

      @@Believeintherun They sponsor a number of triathletes, and these shoes are likely to be worn in a lot of ironman marathons. They don't seem to police it now, but it was a rule of IM races that shoes must have reflectors on them. So many are out running after sunset.

      Rocket X, kind of pricy for a beginner imo. If I was a beginner, I'd go with the Rincon if I was racing 5k-10k. Then if you like it, add the Rocket X into rotation.

    • @Believeintherun
      @Believeintherun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For starters, the EVO carbon rocket is a trash shoe, it was the first carbon attempt by HOKA and it was terrible

  • @ericpetersen8645
    @ericpetersen8645 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    So you’d say the durometer and feel is similar to carbon x and the NB shoe? I haven’t tried the NB but impressions are it’s fuel cell is bouncier than carbon x. I’m kinda confused. Was excited for this rocket x but now may stick with carbon x. Any advice?

    • @chrisvega9263
      @chrisvega9263 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carbon x 2 maybe?

    • @Believeintherun
      @Believeintherun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me (Robbe), the durometer feels on par with the Carbon X, just less aggressive rocker for sure. Definitely not soft/bouncier in the way of FuelCell. I think for Thomas, the overall ride reminds him of the RC Elite (I haven't run in the RC). Honestly, the best way to describe the Rocket is a lighter and faster Carbon X.

  • @baltsu
    @baltsu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well about the Rincon. I did a 500 mls test in my sample pair without any problems. There were small pieces flying from outsole after 100k but it doesn't matter because the shoe wasn't competing in the Miss World contest. I would say that it was "fast" for 300k and after that just a comfortable everyday trainer for easier paces. Upper was too cold for winter. So I finished the test by running on treadmill last 200 miles or so and even at the end it was a comfortable shoe for runs like 20k MLRs. If one cannot get more than 100 mls out of Rincons then he must have a terrible way of running that destroys shoes. Reminds me of a bulldozer.

    • @Believeintherun
      @Believeintherun  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We actually say the shoe can last. But the great out of the box feel dies in about 100 miles, after that, it isn’t as fun to run in.

    • @baltsu
      @baltsu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Believeintherun okay. I understand what you mean but for slow paces Rincon is still fine when it's old compared to Vomero for example. I have 2 pairs of Vomero 14 and can feel a huge difference between them. Even the old pair looks brand new, there is no wear in outsole or anywhere but the midsole is completely dead. After 700k it's a torture to run in them. It's not hard but also not soft, just dead.
