    Great comparison topic. I have the rocket x and use it for mid-longer runs, especially when targeting race pace. Really enjoy the rocket’s ride and feel its a solid value shoe. I actually had to go half size up and wear a little thicker sock to dial-in a comfortable fit

    I just got a pair of Carbon X 2 yesterday and I really like them, as others have mentioned, if you heal strike a bit, the Carbon X 2 works well and even though I don’t feel as though I heal strike, I still do a bit. It has been really hard to get the Rocket X in my size here in the UK, and I got a good discount on the Carbon X 2, so I am happy with my choice. I'm glad I came across this video. I'm a big Nike fan, but a friend of mine keeps telling me to try Hoka. I'm currently training for the rock n roll full marathon and these 2 shoes are my final 2 choices. Based on some of the reviews it looks like I might be going with the Rocket X. But are Rocket X fast shoes, you think they will help me beat some PR times as well?

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! I like the rocket x because the carbon plate doesn’t feel as aggressive as some other super shoes but they still feel fast. If you don’t need a ton of cushion under your foot for a marathon, then the rocket x is a great way to go.

    I’m not in the market for either one but I would pick the Rocket X on the basis of its absence of rear extended midsole and absence of elf heel collar, two design elements I dislike which I wish would go away. Add to that the weight difference and more dialed-in fit and it’s a no brainer. Martha

    Great review. For me, fit and feel seem better with the rocket x. In all honesty I’m a little disappointed with the carbon x2 so far. Quite narrow in a uk10 and the upper a touch tougher especially with the tongue. It would be great if hoka produced a selection of inner soles to either better support the heel, arch or both which gives the wearer more options.

    I'm a bit disappointed with my Rocket X. On my first run I stepped on a stone on the pavement. The stone went straight into the sole. Incidentally, this stone was the largest of several to enter the sole.

    I thought I'd never buy a Hoka again after the Arahi 4 experience. But I took a chance to add the Hoka Carbon X2 to my collection. It is not fast. I have several other carbon plate shoes and it's the slowest behind my beloved Zoom Fly 4. However it's the most comfortable. I think being a #bigbonedflatfootedrunner this is pretty much a "lightweight" comfy daily trainer. I don't mind picking it for my speed work, tempos, and faster long runs, even knowing it's the slowest, because it's so comfortable for my frame. So I wear it for pretty much any workout from easy to speed whenever I just want to switch up from my core rotation. Whodathunk?

    I do like your videos a lot, but it seems that not every shoe out there is suitable for you. I own the carbon X 1 and I know rather well that taking the shoe for an easy run is pointless. That's not what the shoe was designed for. I never put it on when I know I'm going to run any slower than 4:30/km. And the rocket X is meant to be even faster, so it shines only when you go really fast (it would be below 4:00/km for me).

      I think maybe carbon x 2 will give you more miles just because it’s a bit more shoe. I do think that maybe the carbon x 2 is a bit more versatile but you can absolutely still use the rocket x for tempo runs. I also don’t think it’ll wear out that much quicker than the carbon x 2

      It’s good for a marathon if you don’t mind a little less cushion under your foot

    I would suggest Saucony Endorphin Pro for races and Endorphin Speed for fast training&racing. Hokas simply dont work and their durability is very bad.

    How's the stability on both? I roll quite much to the inside and can't use unstable shoes like for example the Novablast.

    • @RunLikeHeller
      @RunLikeHeller  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both are more stable than the novablast, but the carbon x is probably the most stable of these 2.

      @@lukaszpowalowski8342 no problem! I have videos on all of them so feel free to check those out, but I’d say carbon x2 is still the most stable of all of those. And the Pro is more stable than the speed.

      @@RunLikeHeller Thanks a lot for this comparison! I tend to dive to the inside with my big toe on some softer shoes, which feels really insecure and unstable.

    I like how it looks with the Carbon X 2 but don't understand why can't they just put some rubber below...
