The best way to deal with burnout is to listen to your own body. We overdo things that isn't healthy for our mental or physical health. Keeping in check when your body needs rest and food time to time and not abusing yourself mentally to overdo works. Your needs comes first stay hydrated, sleep well and eat healthy.❤

@@Psych2go For me only sleeping is not resting because no matter how much I sleep I still feel burned out. Rest should be like to be in peace of mind even in our chaotic days. School, working full-time, family, finances, or other people issues has been non-stop. My mind, body and soul had enough and let me know it, in ways ive never experienced. I've learned thus far since im still working through this, the best solutions that organizations and being gentle on me when I feel I haven’t performed is key. Well, it is fun to see, as an autistic person, my weekly routine laid out as symptoms. Monday's usually fine. Tuesday the fatigue and sweet craving hits. Wednesday the high blood pressure hits. Thursday the stomach problems hit. I work 4 ten hour days so Friday is my first day of my weekend and that's when my weekly migraine hits and I sleep for 14-16 hours. Then I finally have two days of peace and normalcy before the cycle begins again. Thankfully never hit insomnia.

Burnout is not just about work. Caring and family responsibilities can be even more chronically stressful. Eg I am sole carer for my severely disabled husband. I do get some help but never never respite. There is no end and no way out. I can’t get signed off work by a doctor or leave my job. I love my husband who is kind and undemanding of me despite his physical helplessness but we are stuck where we are.
It would be great if you could do more content on caring and family responsibilities and stresses not just work and study pressures. A lot of us viewers are an older demographic.

The constant fatigue, cravings for sweet, tension headaches and some sleep disturbance definitely were there. Also had a few moments of muscle tension...like slight tightness in the chest with heart palpitations a few times in the course of 1-2 yrs. Irritability and low patience were also constant. Found that I was venting about my job a lot. Even people around me noticed. Left that job and it's life changing. My body feels lighter. No longer in brain fog. I’ve heard that burnout is caused not just from too much work, but also a lack of meaning or fulfillment in what you do. This is one of the reasons why doctors can work for DAYS at a time without getting burnt out, because they find their work meaningful. Going back to the single mothers, maybe they’re able to go through so much and do so much because they find that it’s meaningful for their child.

I read an article recently published by Johns Hopkins talking about the connection between gut health and mental health, specifically depression triggered by stress. I started eating yogurt and (thawed frozen) fruit for breakfast a few days each week and it's made a world of difference for me. I've also come to love kimchi and usually eat it straight out of the jar lol. Normally when I get stressed out, I can't handle anything and can barely get out of bed. But recently I've experienced being stressed and still perfectly able to manage my daily tasks. Specially if I say I'm also struggling with depression. I got two weeks leave for burnout from a doctor last year. It's sooooo helpful to have the chance to just...stop. Once I had many of the symptoms and told a “friend” about it and he said “no you don’t have burnout, that happens when you work over 100 hours per week”… when I quit the job I had at the time half of the symptoms went away but the other half remained so I’m suspecting my burnout is coming from living with my parents rather than the excessive demands of the job I had.
A little bit of context: pandemic made me withdraw to my parents house while working for home so it felt like a blessing at first bc I didn’t had to pay rent with the catch that I had to help with house chores, but with my parents being elderly now i basically end up doing over 60% the work of 3 people combined, also with a super narrow vision of life (like they think the world still works as in the 70s-90s) and a superiority complex of “we know better because we’re old” they keep rejecting my decisions because “I’m still young so I still don’t know how to take good decisions” (well to be fair there is some truth to that, I could always leave and just pay rent to get that peace of mind I lack at home)

How do you get started when getting started isn't an option. Someone that has been told that I only think of myself when I was a teen (granted I always try to help a lot and barely do things for myself), I put other people’s problems and feelings before my own. I buy things for my partner more than myself. Even while working, going home I would cook and clean as well and run errands. I have been dealing with every topic discussed since roughly 2018 and thought it may be PTSD from a prior career path, depression, memory loss issues, ADHD, laziness, etc. I couldn't really place it and out of fear of bad results, year after year, put off visiting a mental health expert. I have always thought it was my head that is messed up and needs to be fixed, but never seriously considered burnout until watching this randomly during a normal lunch break. I have a very busy lifestyle and rarely get a day to just fully shed any responsibilities. My brain is always pumping out stressful thoughts about what the future holds, I struggle to enjoy the good things in the here and now. I will consider that maybe burnout has been/is my issue, and will do my best to follow the advice of how to treat it. It would be amazing if it were something that I can have some control over without needing outside intervention.

I don't entirely understand how, but currently, my burnout is based on how much I can be a variable of. I don't understand exactly what I could be useful for or good at due to my education being so....spread out. I feel like the amount of science I understand is like a piece of toast that had to figure out the best thing to be put on it because the systems I've been a part of cannot help me in a impactful way. At this point, I can manage my mental state, yet confidence and overall consistency elude me. These videos have helped me understand what it is that confuses me when almost everyone I know calls me really smart , but somehow, I know very little about the depths of communication and culture. I hate cooking because of trauma (don't ask) and want to learn more, but the time it would take to learn enough to make real impact would take far too long for me to fully understand it well enough to make it worth knowing.
Sometimes, I wonder if science is doomed after the scientists uncover the theory that proves everything.

I've tried running as anxiety leaves your body waiting for a flight or fight response, so running tells your body that you are away from danger. I have been resting when my body needs it, meditating, moving during my breaks, incorporating more nutritional food into my diet (especially fruits!) and sleeping earlier. Since I am studying more hours, my body seems to need more hours of sleep. As you can see I'm trying everything I can as I have made the mistake of overworking myself and not doing well on my exam due to my exhaustion, and I am determined to not let that happen again!

For my own experience, I felt felt all the signs first. It wasn't until after my body finally crashed from the constant insomnia and pain in my chest and my stomach always feeling like it was fire... That I finally thought "Damn I'm burned out." I feel like I never entirely recovered, but I did learn how to keep the stress down. Now, recovering without the stresss feels weird. It's like knowing things need to get done, but not feeling any urgency because for so long everything was equally important, so now nothing seems like it is. That's not too say I'm not grateful for learning to finally live without the pain in my chest or the insomnia. That's fantastic. Readjusting is just... Different.

I am curently taking time off work because of a burnout. I Was already in the midst of it at the end of last year, but since I had a 3 week vacation over christmas it kinda got pushed away for the time being. But now only a few months later it catched up to me. I Just started bawling my eyes out last week at work, and couldnt stop if my life depended on it. I Couldnt concentrate on anything, I was dehydrated due to stress and just felt this overwhelming guilt in me. So I saw my physician and he gave me time off work. Now I am laying here watching videos like this because I am still so anxious and feel guilty that I am not at work. Luckily I got myself an apointment for a psychologist in a few days, and I really hope I can get into therapy. I dont know what I should do otherwise.

hey! I wondered if you would one day cover "cyclothymia"? I haven't been diagnosed, but I'd like to learn about it in a way that it's not compared to bipolar disorder (even if many say that cyclothymia is a bipolar disorder), because when professionals talk about it, it feels as if they call cyclothymia an "easier" condition because bipolar is worse. And I understand that reasoning very much, but just because a disorder is milder doesn't mean it is simply to deal with. And you all always educate us so free of judgement, and I've had enough of being guilt-tripped for not being okay. Of course, I know your videos aren't diagnostic tools. Thank you for all you do

I used to watch you when i was younger, like 12 to 13 years old when i was wistful to get a boyfriend and would watch all the videos about how to know if we are in love and things. As I got older I stopped watching those sorts of videos. But this was so perfectly placed. I mean I know im burntout. I dont need to see all the signs. The constant physical and mental exetion and stress and also the demotivation to do anything is a pretty clear sign to me. I am going forward with everything though, im not letting burnout stop me but keeping on top of the physical and mental strain is hard. Youd think getting a break helps and a proper sleep since I dont get to do that on school days. But the truth is, no matter how much sleep I get im always tired and everyone can tell that im not 100%. Right now I have some exams coming up where I feel the need to push myself to get the best result I can and ive been compensating for that with sugar. Not plain sugar but really sweet tea. Also a lot of food instead of forgetting to eat. I mean I do forget sometimes but usually im snacking on something. Im glad to see that youre still here spreading information about these sorts of things. Mental health is really important.

I went to the doctor about palpations and panic attacks, went through a battery of tests, and got told there was nothing wrong with me. They never even asked about stress or anything. For the palpations, I found taking magnesium and a B vitamin complex daily helped. I still get them from time to time, but not as severe. Lot of folks swear by low carb diets too. Of course the usual disclaimer that your mileage my vary, consult a doctor, etc. Really finding ways to manage the stress is key, and I haven't quite figured that out yet.

Not sure if this was from my prior comment. But this video was amazing thank you. If at all feasible or done before I think a video on helping young adults aged 18-24 range with those that are stuck living in toxic home environments with no feasible way out or so they see. Not in a suicidal sense but more of a mental sense of stunted growth into adult hood or oppression by people who entrap them. Example someone i know is a young adult (in aforementioned range) but she is basically trapped at home with her mentally abusive parents. She feels hopeless everyday in that she cant go anywhere for monetary reasons. Her mom forced home schooled her and withholds her GED from her as well as both parents forcing her to stay home while they do family activities with the younger brother. Make her do chores, etc. I have been trying to keep her afloat and giving her advice for possible avenues of education but monetary issue and her own willpower under this constant barrage is a hard fight.
Somewhat relevant too as COVID happening and the economic issues are seeing adults forced to live with parents longer than the "standard" timeline. This affecting secondary education, delaying careers and making young adults feel far behind peers in their age group due to not following "the norm".

2:41 …It’s worse for people with ADHD (unsure about Autism?), & other Executive Disfunctions.
Our brains literally do not process happy chemicals well…
Many develop a sweet tooth to make up for the happy chemicals we don’t usually process in an attempt to make up for how often we feel “bad” feelings.
Feelings, emotions, & thoughts just are.
Each of us need to meet our feelings kindly, mindfully, & objectively, otherwise it would make it hard to accept our own neurodiverse existence.
