Fun Fact: When Sokka does his Airship Slice, you don't see all the other 14 airships getting rammed, but if you listen for the impact sounds, all of them are accounted for. Such attention to specific details. I love it
A perfect ending to an incredible show. Azula's descent into madness and the Agni Kai with Zuko was so well done. I've seen it countless times and it never gets old.
For me, the fight Azula vs Zuko is almost better than Aang vs Ozai. It had so much more build-up in the seasons before, and we followed the development of Zuko and Azula's descent into madness much more closely. Their fight is so much more filled with emotion, and the audio with the strings together, the deep, muffled fire sounds, is incredibly good. It's actually really sad and unfortunate story for the two siblings, driven apart and turned against each other by their parents. It's actually the first time where we see Azula out of breath. Before, she calculated every move to mostly taunt her enemies, but now, Azula just went crazy, and Zuko kept a level head and did not exhaust himself unnecessarily. (In contrast, for example, to Book 2, Ep1 against Zuko, who she wanted to take prisoner, she only used bending at the very end when Zuko had already exhausted himself)
@@BRIDGECO1 It has a continuation. Book 4 Comics. About Zuko searching for his mother. It's a top tier read. Good luck. It was fun watching you react. There are also Comics about Avatar Kioshi.
Honestly same, I think it's because he's always been on the run/on a mission, so he never got the chance to fully embrace his culture since the genocide. I know the entire world was at war for 100 years, but some people still got to live a life with a semblance of normalcy. Aang never experienced that after running away from the temple and getting frozen
5:07 underrated moment. The firenation has been trying to breach the walls of Ba Sing Se for nearly 100 years and Iroh hammers through it with a single blast. Goes to show how strong Iroh is and how much more stronger the comet makes firebenders
My favorite part about that is that it's used as a precursor to Ozai's firebending, you go "Holy shit Iroh is strong, holy shit the comet is crazy." and then you see Ozai's blast and it's like "Holy fucking shit..." Such good writing for power dynamics and villains
You can find out what happened to Zuko and Azula's mom in the 3 part graphic novel called "The Search". There are also a lot of other graphic novels with Aang and the gang that are really good. They're a great kinda continuation of the show. There are also chapter books that are kinda prequels to the show. There are 2 books about Avatar Kyoshi. 2 books about Avatar Yangchen. 1 book about Avatar Ruko just came out last month and a second book about Roku comes out next July.
ty lee was afraid to be a part of a matched set, being seen as no different from one another. but with the kyoshi warriors she could have the unity of community, the stability borne out of martial structure, and the sense of belonging to a group while retaining her individuality (marked by each of the warriors' freedom to adorn their battle armor)
The Kyoshi Warriors are a set, but not a matched set, they each have full control of changes they prefer, such as hairstyles, small or big details in the uniforms and how they wear it, what weapons and/or fighting styles they use, etc.
ozai woke up that morning as the phenixking, ready to destroy the earth kingdom and rule over everything and instead got his bending taken away by a 112 year old vegetarian
it's even funnier than that actually! if you look at the timeline of Fire Lords Ozai actually has the SHORTEST rein of any Fire Nation monarch in history he started his day thinking he was going to launch himself into mythology and instead he couldn't even make it to 10 years on the throne 😂😂
That moment where he goes into Avatar form was, I believe, only the second time in the series he went into Avatar form of his own will. The first time was when Azula killed him.
I’d say it because he achieved his duty as the Avatar. But he wasn’t a fully realized avatar. You’re not a fully realized avatar until you master all 4 elements. Aang hadn’t done that by the end of the base series.
My son wanted to watch this series when he was younger. I sat down to watch it with him and just got immediately sucked in. At 60 I consider this probably the best series that I have ever watched, animated or otherwise. He agrees. Brilliant writing and direction.
Aang taking away Ozai’s bending is so much worse than killing him. Now, he can watch from behind bars - for the rest of his natural life - while his despised son tears down his beloved empire
The music and the animation they put into the Zuko and Azula fight is one of the best things I’ve ever seen on television….. I was 17 when the finale aired. Been rewatching the series at LEAST twice a year since 🎉 Best thing Nickelodeon produced in my opinion. Love y’all’s reactions. You two are so funny! Much love from FL
The entire finale is a masterpiece, but I want to point out one thing I love in particular. On rewatch you realize not a single one of the past Avatars told Aang to kill Ozai. They said to be decisive, only justice will bring peace, you must actively shape your destiny, and put aside your own spiritual needs and do whatever it takes to save the world. They gave him advice and he interpreted their meaning to be 'kill Ozai' because he thought that was what he had to do, but they did not say that was the right or necessary thing. Aang figured out a way to end it without killing him and followed the advice of all of the Avatars he spoke with in the process. I think its beautiful that he, and we, misunderstand and assume their meaning the first time.
The spiritbending isn't explicitly explained, but it does make sense from an in-universe standpoint (I haven't finished the vid yet, so I don't know if you even ask this question, but I'll answer it anyway) Bending works by moving your chi into the element you're attempting to bend. (Firebending uses the heat inside the user's body as the origin flame) People have an innate control over their own chi, this is why bloodbending can only be done when empowered by a full Moon. So altering the chi in another person's body is immensely difficult, but plausible. I love that this isn't outright explained. The writers wanted everybody, even the audience, to believe that there was no way for Aang to win without killing Ozai. So when he finds that way, he's overcoming the expectations of the entire world.
Agreed, that's the one thing people see as a Deus Ex Machina. While sudden, it didn't magically solve Aang's problem for him, but gave him another option that has it's own significant risks. At the end of the day, Aang still had to make the choice to kill or not, and decide just how much of himself is he willing to put on the line to uphold his and his people's beliefs and successfully energy bend Ozai.
I remember sobbing at Azula's breakdown because for a fourteen year old to be so convinced that she wont receive love so she needs to bond through fear was gut wrenching.
@@kmjkmjkmjit’s not a competition 😭 azula was unloved by their mother and her father’s “love” for her was purely transactional, she needed to be perfect otherwise she would be completely ALONE. at least zuko had his mom and then iroh
3:35 The two random guys having a conversation in the bomb bay were voiced by the creators 5:05 "Power in fire bending comes from the breath" -Iroh in episode 2 12:57 Zuko was able to redirect it as scene by it flashing in the air, but mid air he wasn't able to perform it exactly right and the lightning went very close to his heart, which is why he was taken down but not killed. Aang's final move against Ozai looks like one he used against Katara while they were training at the start of "The Cave of Two Lovers". The hand movements seem to be about the same and the water is also similar with a water tendril wrapping around the leg. Episode 1: The Boy in the Iceberg Episode 61: Avatar Aang. Just in the name titles they are able to show Aang's progression from just a goofy boy trapped in an iceberg for 100 years to a slightly more mature boy ready to take on his responsibilities. 26:19 Ironic you said that Bridget because first word spoken in the series (not counting the Intro): "It's" Last word spoken: "perfect" "It's perfect" There are 6 comic trilogies set in the next couple of years that address some of your questions and the creators had a hand in them and they are considered canon. They are The Promise, The Search, The Rift, Smoke and Shadow, The North and the South, and Imbalance. There are also a few stand alone comics. Also as for other upcoming projects the movie you mentioned is actually set to come out October 10th of next year but there isn't any info about it other than they will be in their mid 20s-30s and Dante Basco is returning to voice Zuko but he is the only one returning. There's also a standalone Zuko movie also in the works and a new series set after Legend of Korra and a movie to go with it, and two other series in the works that we have no info on.
11:50 "There's feels like the titanic going down." That is an INCREDIBLE way to describe it. It is the most tragic fight in the entire series, and probably the most tragic scene. Two siblings pitted against each other for their country and family one final time
there are so many cool throwbacks in this episode. the long range fire bending shot aang takes at ozai in the air ship, he does the dancing dragon form he and zuko learned from the sun warriors (he just does it fast so its easy to miss), the defensive move that zuko does during the agni kai, where he takes a wide stance and pushed his arms out to the side, thats textbook earthbending form that he obviously picked up while with the gang and toph. (katara does something similar when she was fighting Hama, she head on blocks a water bending attack like an earth bender. no redirecting the flow of the water like you would expect from a water bender, hence the surprise on hama's face) and then that break dance/360 fire spin attack he does to knock azula down, that was the exact move aang hit him with earlier in the show. Zuko took what uncle iroh taught him seriously. he watched/studied other benders and adapted those moves/stances/forms for his fire bending. thats what makes him so damn strong. impeccable detail and continuity in this show. this show is so fucking good!
Nickelodeon will never have another show like Avatar: The Last Airbender. A true masterpiece with a bunch of supplemental material to go along with it (The books and comics are all pretty rad!)
Kind of crazy to think that bunch of kids saving the world, while they still on the journey on finding their true self. And also Zuko and Aang having a great achievment at such a young age is a proof that kids even can be more dependable than the adults. Ofc they can't grow without the adult around them or the one they met along the way. And also prove that Hardtime/Wartime create a strong physique and mind. Love this show 10/10.❤
I had to go to my step-dads family party during this finale. I begged them to change the channel so I could watch it and about half the party stayed to watch the finale without having seen any other episode 😂 imagine the impact I felt
“Theirs feels like the titanic” in reference to Zuko vs Azula. Yup cuz it’s a tragedy. Zuko was scarred by his father at 13 and it messed him up big time. We also saw his father disliked Zuko so much before then he was willing to kill him because Fire Lord Azulon asked for it. Ozai said “Azula was born lucky” that’s why he favored her and you can see how brainwashed she is to have her father’s approval especially since she also believed her mother didn’t love her. We triumph at Zukos remarkable redemption arc while at that same time, we see Azula who throughout the entirety of the show is shown to be an intelligent, kickass girl lose her sanity as she loses everything and everyone around her almost all at once 😢 Azula is 14 during season 3. super tragic
I’m so glad you guys have enjoyed this show! It’s honestly in my top three. Such a profound show that you don’t expect from a Nickelodeon production. And Zuko’s character arch/redemption is the greatest I’ve seen on television and no one can fight me on that haha.
6:06 : Azula is not a monster. She is seriously messed up in the head, sociopathic, paranoid, but remember she is just 15-years-old, who was raised by a cruel father who subjected her to as much fear as he did with Zuko, but in a more subtle way : she is trying to be so perfect all the time, and trying to control everything, because she is terrified that anything less will have her father treat her like Zuko.
If you want to find out what happened to Zuko’s mom there’s actually a series of comic books that effectively works as a canon “4th season” of the show. They’re really good so I highly recommend them if you want a definitive conclusion.
There are comic book series that are set after the end of season 3, one of the comics is about the saga of zuko finding his mom! So that story does get told, just in a book instead of onscreen.
@@xJayhawkFANx "Lesser" is a matter of opinion, probably should try learning what those are before you spout nonsense you can't back up on the internet.
Momo is so underrated and such a loyal animal. Even during the final battle, he has been following Aang all the way. During the Drill episode, when Azula attacks Aang, again Aang asks Momo to leave, but comes back in a clutch moment to help Aang get back on the Drill to finish what he was doing. Otherwise, Aang would have fallen and would never be able to come back to the top again in time to finish things off. Momo followed Aang when he was sleepwalking to the Lion Turtle as well. Bumi, who also has animal companions and respects animals like Aang, says there is nothing to worry about as long as Momo is with Aang. There are so many moments like that with Momo, that we usually take for granted.
The Zuko and azula fight wont be as good in the live action because they can't commit to Zuko being evil in the live action they act like there scared to make him Really bad so the payoff with him finally joining the team and fighting azula wont be as good as a payoff
I can only imagine all millennial parents right now sitting their babies to watch this wonderful series with them, creating wonderful memories with them.
I'm 32, and a year or two ago I showed my sister's 5 kids the show and they loved it. They quote it all the time with me. I was so glad I could share it with them. Now that they're older it's hard to get everyone together at one time. We started Korra, but it's really slow since one of them is usually gone from the group or it's a family event and we can't step away just to watch something.
not a millennial but a gen z, im 19 and when i was younger my whole family and i watched this show. of course i was young then and didn't understand the full story but ever since i rewatched it when i was in middle school i have been in love with it. i've seen the show so many times that i have more than half of the series lines memorized, one day i'm hoping to know it all by heart LOL. i can't wait to eventually have children and introduce this show to them, my friends and i are currently watching it together too, we're almost done with book 3
Zuko's redemption is so special for me. The fact that he had to get everything he ever wanted to realize what he actually needed, and i was so disappointed in him from the book 2 finale. Just a pure work of art
I watched it as a child and could still appreciate it for sure. Kids understand and pick up on more than you'd think. I remember reading books like this and understanding yhem at 8). I feel like that's easy to forget as an adult. I still remember my first watch, following along as it was airing. It was my part of my introduction to these more complex themes and it was a deeply profound and impactful part of my childhood. It's a core memory and shaped my media tastes and even my worldview. The great thing about this show is also it's rewatchability. I rewatched it every 1-2y as the mood strikes me, and honestly I notice something new every time. Growing into adulthood (I'm now in my 30s, and was about the same age as the Gaang when I first watched), has only given me a deeper appreciation for the show. I'll never tire of it, and it's always a joy to watch people of all ages discover it.
I do think it's often forgotten that Azula is a child here. She is 14-15 years old at this point, bred into a life where she is forced to do horrible things as the only way to survive with any affection or pride from her family. Bred to only achieve one goal, ruling the fire nation. And now that it is here, AS A CHILD, it is far too much pressure, especially when the only person she was doing it for, her father, isn't going to be there anymore.
i love the way they made azula to be the most perfect person in the whole series (a child prodigy, be able taking down ba sing se at the age of 14 without ANY invasion/fight, the most calculated, smart, never lose in A SINGLE fight) and yet having the most dramatic down fall in the end😂
i will always remember watching this as it came out as a little kid and my mom letting me stay up pasy my bed time to finish watching it lol, since then ive seen it like so so so many times it is so precious to me so glad you guys have finally enjoyed it
Why am i tearing up? Anyway, The Last Agni Kai is insanely beautiful: the music, the colors, the lack of other sounds Edit: don't forget zuko and aang are technically related
Being able to defeat Ozai without killing him, Even when all the other past avatars thought/deemed it impossible otherwise, really highlights just how strong Aang is as a person and as the avatar. Yangchen, an air nomad just like Aang even, went as far as to tell him that sacrificing what he believed in was the only way. In the face of what seemed to be an unstoppable evil, Aangs passion and dedication in his beliefs never wavered. Aang is the literal personification of what the lion-turtle preached; “The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost. The true heart can touch the poison of hatred without being harmed. Since beginningless time, darkness thrives in the void, but always yields to purifying light.” The part that really draws a parallel is this line in specific; “The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost.” Aangs friends, teachers, and even his own past lives told him that killing Ozai was the only way. A “lie” or an “illusion” they all told their selves to justify murder. But Aang, even after admitting that the world would probably be better off without Ozai, couldn’t lie to himself. He was taught as a monk that all life is precious and must be treated as such. Who is he to decide if a person lives or dies? No amount of being “good” or “evil” morally justifies murder. Aang “weathered all the lies and illusions without being lost.” Aang literally “touched the poison of hatred without being harmed.” And in the end the “darkness thrived in the void but yielded to purifying light.”
To see you guys go from reacting to electric callboy to this incredible show was really a full circle moment for myself. My guilty pleasure is watching people watch this show for the first time - I appreciate you saying that you probably wouldn't have appreciated this show as much as you would've when you were young. But never forget, there is no war in ba sing se. :)
Thank you for this amazing journey guys!! It was a pleasure watching your reactions. I just started peaky blinders so I can watch your reactions to that series too 🥹 Regarding Zukos Mother: There are a bunch of comic books that are set after the final of the series. The plot line with zukos & auslas mother but also many other things are shown there. Highly recommend to read them, I was pleasantly surprised how well the characters work on paper too 🥹 Sorry if my english is not the best, it’s not my native language 🥲
"Into the Inferno" is my favorite episode of the entire show. The art and animation of the Agni Kai, the MUSIC, so graceful and tragic, so much more powerful and emotional as brother and sister fight. Azula's descent into madness was SO well done, despite being compressed into a mostly a single episode. AND... The very last line of dialogue spoken in the show...is a blind joke. First word spoken in the show: "It's" Last word spoken in the show: "...perfect."
26:18 What she said here is exactly what are the first word and the last word together. The First Word of the show is "it's" by Sokka in Episode 1 and the last is "perfect" by Toph at 25:53 This is great! ^^
The fucking chills, man! These final episodes will never cease to amaze me 😫 Also, about Zuko's mom, that plot continues at some point in the Avatar comics.
Thank you for the entire series. It was really nice to see you watch this and express all the emotions. I can't wait for you to see other Avatar stuff.
I always loved that look on Ozai's face when Aang redirects the lightning because in that moment he knew Zuko had done exactly what he said he would do.
Someone else probably already said this, but if you want to know the story of Zuko's mother, it continues in the comic collection called The Search. All of the comics are great, highly recommend.
29:06 That's true for me too! I enjoyed watching it back when it was on tv but coming back later to rewatch it blew my mind🤯 30:48 Korra is fine. The main issue came from Nickelodeon constantly yanking the rug out from under the team. "You got 22 episodes." "No wait, one 13 episode season. That's it." "Change of plans, we'll allow another season." "We've moved the show into the death slot. For some reason it's not doing too well. You're probably not getting another season." "Okay fine. You get to finish the series but we're testing it out online first...weird, it's not doing well. Maybe we should've told people."
Yeah Korra is a giant shit show. So sad that with all of the success of this one that they didnt just give the team time to breathe and actually make something good.
Ty Lee becoming a Kyoshi Warrior is actually amazing character progression considering she didn't want to be part of a matched set with her sisters growing up. I think maybe because she chose it rather than being forced to, also the Kyoshi warriors are badass
So much to say about this finale... It's perfect. I could go through each detail--the beauty and tragedy of the Last Agni Kai, the resolution of generations of strife, fulfillment of characters' journeys--but yeah, perfect.
The Zuko's mom story is in the comic The Search. I think it's the second comic that takes place after the finale. The comic The Promise picks up literally right after Aang and Katara kiss in the finale. There are a few comics that are worth checking out if you want to spend more time with these characters.
@@ericksandoval8276 i dont know the exact timeline of when he does it but he is 16 in the series and i believe he is like 18-19 in the search comic which is primarily being adapted (im sure with alot of changes)
We don't know what it's based on but they already answered the question about his mother in comics which were approved by the creators as canon and they have also said they don't intend to adapt the stories from the comics so that probably won't be the plot. Also it was set shortly after The Promise trilogy which was 1 year after the show so probably 1-1 1/2 years after. Zuko would be almost 17 at this point if not already since he was 16 at the start and this whole show is just under a year, so he would be 18 in The Search.
I get what you were going for but Azula isn't a voice actress.. and VAs playing multiple characters - including ones that interact or clash - isn't unheard of and isn't inherently a reference to the character being their own enemy
Having found your channel when you released the Fallout tv series and watching along was a great experience. Then also enjoying a catch up on earlier seasons of Avatar was an amazing time up to this finale. I'm hoping you will both enjoy what this franchise has to offer in the future. Thanks for all the reactions.
As someone watching this as a kid/teenager every week on nickelodeon i can tell you this show meant everything to me back then. i missed football practice, school homework and even dinner just to be able to watch the latest episode! now imagine watching episode 3x20 and then having to wait an entire week to watch the last one xDD
Sokka was my favorite character. He started off by standing alone against a fire nation ship to defend his village, and by the end, he had mastered all four nations non-bending martial arts and lead a team of three to take down an entire fire nation airship fleet.
I found your guys Chanel from the first avatar video you guy’s reacted to and loved seeing you guys on this journey . This show will always have a special place in my heart my whole family would watch it when it came out on tv . I can’t wait for the reaction to the movie it’s like a ride of passage the only good thing that came out that movie 😂.
That look of Ozai seeing Aang for the first time at 7:16 never gets old i love how u can see that Ozai was genreally shocked at the avatar pulling up 😭
That end with finding another way rather than murder has always been such a high note for me, such a deep Buddhist philosophical point. :) This is why so many people consider this to be the best animated series ever made, even today! So glad you guys enjoyed it! :)
The most wonderful thing bout this shows finale is that almost everyone fulfilled his arc. The first episode of the show was called the boy in the iceberg. The last one is called Avatar Aang. Think bout that. Aang fulfilled his obvious main arc to save the world from the firelord and not killing him as the monks told him. Zukos Arc finishes as he becomes firelord. Katara ends up with the great and powerful bender Aunt Wu told her back then. Sokka finishes as the leader, who took the battleship fleet down. Tophs Arc remains to trust her friends and dont be so egoistic, which you can see in the chemistry between her, Sokka and Suki. Even Ty Lee fulfills her kind of "side arc" becoming a Kyoshi warrior. She grew up with 6 sisters who looked exact the same. She joined the circus to be outstanding. She loved it to be surrounded by many boys. And in the end she ends up with 6 same looking warriors and understands that is not important to be outstanding. She understands that its just important to be surrounded by real friends not like Azula. About Azula: It was determined, that she will lose it in the end. And I mean not just the end fight. I mean her mental health. The breakdown started when Ty lee and Mai betrayed her. She was always confident about, that she can control everyone by using fear. After her "friends" betrayed her, she had that paranoia that everyone will betray her. Thats why she banished everyone. And the fact that she was beaten up by Katara is for me like Zuko has replaced his bloodline sister with another one. Azulas Arc is very tragic, if you think about, that she is 14 years old and is this kind of girl, just because her father raised her like this. The vision of her mother describes it very well, that she just wanted to be loved by her. All in All I think everyone will agree, that Avatar is the best kids cartoon and a golden piece television history. Thanks to all who read this comment. I just wanted to emphasize my love to the greatest kids show and one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
"This can't be the end." *The End* xD Well, technically, the story of Aang and his friends goes on in the official comics. There are 6 more stories told in those comics, each story told in 3 volumes. So 18 comics. Which is also the part, where it is revealed what happens to Zukos mother ... which I still have to read myself, as I have only read the 1st 3 volumes so far xD There is a TH-cam project, called "Book 4: Air - Restoration Project" ... they are working on a kind of "Audiobook" for the comics. Well "Audiobook" is kinda the wrong term. They animate the comic pages and have a lot of voice actors do their part to "animate" the comics. The entirety of the first story is already out (The Promise), while the 2nd story (The Search) is work in progress and the release of the first chapter is going to be expected soon. So if you don't want to read the comics yourself, you could give it a look. Maybe even a react. Each of the 5 episodes that are released so far, are between 30 and 50 min. long. Edit: I thought it were only 3 stories, but apparently there are 3 more, so I adjusted the numbers xD
Just so you know, there are novels and comics that continue and explain the story. Zuko's search for his mother is in The Search, the second comic, after The Promise.
"you're weak, just like the rest of your people! They did not deserve to live in this world! In my world!" Is a pretty good distillation of the conflict of the episode. In the episode, the show raises the question implied in the title of the show; can Aang be both the Avatar and the Last Airbender? The final conclusion is yes he can. By refusing to kill Ozai and finding a way to continue on his peoples culture without desecrating their most sacred belief, he directly challenged Ozai and the Fire Nation's entire ideology and won.
There’s a sequel comic series about life immediately post-war where zuko has to try to figure out how to get the fire nation out of the earth kingdom peacefully when they’ve become mixed-nationality cities and also find out what happened to his mom (Azula comes too!) also Toph teaches metal building at her own school
In Azula's hallucination, what she sees is her mother saying "I love you". Just think about that for a sec. I know she made her bed, but Ozai is responsible for huge degree for using his own child as a weapon.
Truly one of the best all time finales for a show
For me, the fight Azula vs Zuko is almost better than Aang vs Ozai.

I know the entire world was at war for 100 years, but some people still got to live a life with a semblance of normalcy. ty lee was afraid to be a part of a matched set, being seen as no different from one another. but with the kyoshi warriors she could have the unity of community, the stability borne out of martial structure, and the sense of belonging to a group while retaining her individuality (marked by each of the warriors' freedom to adorn their battle armor)
The Kyoshi Warriors are a set, but not a matched set, they each have full control of changes they prefer, such as hairstyles, small or big details in the uniforms and how they wear it, what weapons and/or fighting styles they use, etc.
You can be in a crowd and yet feel alone. And, you can be alone and still be quite content. It's all about perspective.
The whole zukos mom thing I believe is answered in one of the books

it's even funnier than that actually! if you look at the timeline of Fire Lords Ozai actually has the SHORTEST rein of any Fire Nation monarch in history he started his day thinking he was going to launch himself into mythology and instead he couldn't even make it to 10 years on the throne 😂😂
31:00 Yeah it's funny, Nickelodeon just casually dropping one of the greatest episodes of television ever.
The final episode was rightfully named Avatar Aang because he became a fully realised Avatar by the end
It’s also supposed to be a full circle from episode 1, being The Boy In the Iceberg - Avatar Aang
@@TheFakeTeoyup it feels like a full on title “boy in the Iceberg Avatar Aang”.
26:23 There's a comic for that
Yeah they don’t touch on that in LOK either unfortunately
My son wanted to watch this series when he was younger. I sat down to watch it with him and just got immediately sucked in. At 60 I consider this probably the best series that I have ever watched, animated or otherwise. He agrees. Brilliant writing and direction.
My grandfather is the same way with How To Train Your Dragon. You two would probably love it.
Totaly forgot how good Mark Hamill voice acting is for firelord ozai. Luke really turned into the Darkseid 😂
He just wanted to bring balance to the force
...He's the JOKER. He has plenty of experience being evil and crazy. xD
Aang taking away Ozai’s bending is so much worse than killing him. Now, he can watch from behind bars - for the rest of his natural life - while his despised son tears down his beloved empire
"To the pain!"
Yeah. I also like how the writers showed that even with the power of the Comet, he still wasn’t a match for Aang in his Avatar state.

I love how Brigette said that! It really is perfect

The music and the animation they put into the Zuko and Azula fight is one of the best things I’ve ever seen on television…..
I was 17 when the finale aired. Been rewatching the series at LEAST twice a year since 🎉

Zuko vs Azula is always so tragic. They are siblings, family, but they were divided by their abusive father and a war.
The spiritbending isn't explicitly explained, but it does make sense from an in-universe standpoint
(I haven't finished the vid yet, so I don't know if you even ask this question, but I'll answer it anyway)
Bending works by moving your chi into the element you're attempting to bend. (Firebending uses the heat inside the user's body as the origin flame)
People have an innate control over their own chi, this is why bloodbending can only be done when empowered by a full Moon.
So altering the chi in another person's body is immensely difficult, but plausible.
I love that this isn't outright explained. The writers wanted everybody, even the audience, to believe that there was no way for Aang to win without killing Ozai. So when he finds that way, he's overcoming the expectations of the entire world.
I think you mean energy bending😂
Agreed, that's the one thing people see as a Deus Ex Machina. While sudden, it didn't magically solve Aang's problem for him, but gave him another option that has it's own significant risks. At the end of the day, Aang still had to make the choice to kill or not, and decide just how much of himself is he willing to put on the line to uphold his and his people's beliefs and successfully energy bend Ozai.
I remember sobbing at Azula's breakdown because for a fourteen year old to be so convinced that she wont receive love so she needs to bond through fear was gut wrenching.
Got to admit, I feel more sorry for Zuko, having to grow up unloved by his father and constantly having to fear his sister.
@@kmjkmjkmjit’s not a competition 😭 azula was unloved by their mother and her father’s “love” for her was purely transactional, she needed to be perfect otherwise she would be completely ALONE. at least zuko had his mom and then iroh
@kmjkmjkmj zuko had iroh, azula has literally nobody, but her father and mai and ty lee. Even then her friends betrayed her in the end.
Same. I felt so sad, sister fighting brother. Also, moralities aside, she was really pitiful as a child to teenager.

3:35 The two random guys having a conversation in the bomb bay were voiced by the creators

12:57 Zuko was able to redirect it as scene by it flashing in the air, but mid air he wasn't able to perform it exactly right and the lightning went very close to his heart, which is why he was taken down but not killed.
26:19 Ironic you said that Bridget because first word spoken in the series (not counting the Intro): "It's" Last word spoken: "perfect" "It's perfect"
There are 6 comic trilogies set in the next couple of years that address some of your questions and the creators had a hand in them and they are considered canon.
Animated Aang trilogy will also be released
Book 1 Ch. 1: The Boy in the Iceberg
Book 3 Ch. 21: Avatar Aang
We literally watch Aang’s full journey to becoming the avatar. It is perfect.
AND HONESTLY, THEY PROBABLY THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD LOL
A lengendary finale! 😢 Glad you guys enjoyed the journey ❤
Still a monster. She chooses those things ultimately
The reasons don't matter. She's still a monster.
@@erikperhs_ No, she’s not. Read the comics afterwards.
@@tkdanny She is not a monster. Read the comics.
If Zuko didn't have uncle, it's arguable he turns out the same, if not worse since he was physically abused too.
If you want to find out what happened to Zuko’s mom there’s actually a series of comic books that effectively works as a canon “4th season” of the show. They’re really good so I highly recommend them if you want a definitive conclusion.
Zuko's mom storlyine is resolved in a brilliant 3 part comic called "The Search". And its super good!
There are comic book series that are set after the end of season 3, one of the comics is about the saga of zuko finding his mom! So that story does get told, just in a book instead of onscreen.

I can only imagine all millennial parents right now sitting their babies to watch this wonderful series with them, creating wonderful memories with them.
ME AND MY 6 AND 9 YEAR OLD BOYS JUST FINISHED WATCHING IT LAST MONTH THEY STILL TALK TO ME ABOUT THE FINALE ON HOW AWESOME IT WAS!
The giggles from Cody were everything haha 😂, but great reaction as always both of you. Got so excited to watch this today
I love this show. Best series finally of any show ever. They did it great.
During the Agni Kai, Zuko's firebending uses forms inspired from all the other bending disciplines.
i love the way they made azula to be the most perfect person in the whole series (a child prodigy, be able taking down ba sing se at the age of 14 without ANY invasion/fight, the most calculated, smart, never lose in A SINGLE fight) and yet having the most dramatic down fall in the end😂
i will always remember watching this as it came out as a little kid and my mom letting me stay up pasy my bed time to finish watching it lol, since then ive seen it like so so so many times it is so precious to me so glad you guys have finally enjoyed it
Why am i tearing up? Anyway, The Last Agni Kai is insanely beautiful: the music, the colors, the lack of other sounds
Edit: don't forget zuko and aang are technically related
Ehhhh technically. Aang is the reincarnation of Roku; they arent biologically related. So you could say they are spiritually related but thats it lol.
This finale very was the most awesome ever & very happy team avatar saved won the war
23:47 The comment with Ty Lee was spot on! I'm so glad you mentioned that
Being able to defeat Ozai without killing him, Even when all the other past avatars thought/deemed it impossible otherwise, really highlights just how strong Aang is as a person and as the avatar.
Since beginningless time, darkness thrives in the void, but always yields to purifying light.”
The part that really draws a parallel is this line in specific; “The true mind can weather all the lies and illusions without being lost.”
Aangs friends, teachers, and even his own past lives told him that killing Ozai was the only way.
Aang “weathered all the lies and illusions without being lost.”
Aang literally “touched the poison of hatred without being harmed.”
And in the end the “darkness thrived in the void but yielded to purifying light.”
I just started peaky blinders so I can watch your reactions to that series too 🥹
Regarding Zukos Mother: There are a bunch of comic books that are set after the final of the series. The plot line with zukos & auslas mother but also many other things are shown there. Highly recommend to read them, I was pleasantly surprised how well the characters work on paper too 🥹

First word spoken in the show: "It's"
Last word spoken in the show: "...perfect."
26:18 What she said here is exactly what are the first word and the last word together. The First Word of the show is "it's" by Sokka in Episode 1 and the last is "perfect" by Toph at 25:53
This is great! ^^

Also, about Zuko's mom, that plot continues at some point in the Avatar comics.

I enjoyed watching it back when it was on tv but coming back later to rewatch it blew my mind🤯
30:48 Korra is fine. The main issue came from Nickelodeon constantly yanking the rug out from under the team.
"You got 22 episodes."
"No wait, one 13 episode season. That's it."
"Change of plans, we'll allow another season."
"We've moved the show into the death slot. For some reason it's not doing too well. You're probably not getting another season."
"Okay fine.
All these years, rewatches, and reactions later and the final Agni Kai still gives me goosebumps.
23:48 funny you should mention that, because If I remember correctly they actually explore more about that story about Ty Lee in one of the books
one of the best series-endings ive ever seen. ive seen it countless times, and yet im sad every single time that its over. perfect.
Someone has probably already mentioned this, but Zuko looking for his mother was actually covered in a comic. A three-part series, I believe.
a animated movie is in the works about adult zuko and co finding his mum (based on the comics that came after)
That makes no sense doesn’t he find her like a year or two after the comet
This is the best finale of any tv show ever. I love it so much!
Don't know if you guys picked up on it, but Ozai was voiced by Mark Hammil, and Zuko was voiced by Dante Bosco. Amazing performances by all.
The first word that’s spoken in the show was “it’s” and the last word was “perfect”
The first servant to be banished because of the seed is also voiced by Azula herself, like she’s her own enemy
I get what you were going for but Azula isn't a voice actress.. and VAs playing multiple characters - including ones that interact or clash - isn't unheard of and isn't inherently a reference to the character being their own enemy
This is literally the best birthday gift thanks you guyssss I’m so glad you uploaded this today 🥺🩷
Truly the perfect show
Having found your channel when you released the Fallout tv series and watching along was a great experience.

"This can't be the end."
*The End*

Well, technically, the story of Aang and his friends goes on in the official comics.
There are 6 more stories told in those comics, each story told in 3 volumes. So 18 comics.
Which is also the part, where it is revealed what happens to Zukos mother ... which I still have to read myself, as I have only read the 1st 3 volumes so far xD
There is a TH-cam project, called "Book 4: Air - Restoration Project" ... they are working on a kind of "Audiobook" for the comics.
Loved watching your journey through this show. Binged this reaction series so quick lol
Just so you know, there are novels and comics that continue and explain the story. Zuko's search for his mother is in The Search, the second comic, after The Promise.
They made comics to continue after the show ended!!! You do get a zuko and his mom story!! Highly recommend the are such easy reads
There's a long series of comics about everything that happens post-war. Including zuko's mom
PERFECT ending to a PERFECT story
"you're weak, just like the rest of your people! They did not deserve to live in this world! In my world!" Is a pretty good distillation of the conflict of the episode.
In the episode, the show raises the question implied in the title of the show; can Aang be both the Avatar and the Last Airbender? The final conclusion is yes he can. By refusing to kill Ozai and finding a way to continue on his peoples culture without desecrating their most sacred belief, he directly challenged Ozai and the Fire Nation's entire ideology and won.

This comment should have so many more likes, Ive never seen it explained better
There’s a sequel comic series about life immediately post-war where zuko has to try to figure out how to get the fire nation out of the earth kingdom peacefully when they’ve become mixed-nationality cities and also find out what happened to his mom (Azula comes too!) also Toph teaches metal building at her own school
That is the first of 6 trilogies and a couple of standalones.
Oh I woke up RIGHT ON TIME for this
SAME they post the second I wake up everyday
"Flying V Formation"??? Whom do The Fire Nation think they are... THE MIGHTY DUCKS??
In Azula's hallucination, what she sees is her mother saying "I love you". Just think about that for a sec. I know she made her bed, but Ozai is responsible for huge degree for using his own child as a weapon.
... *Did* she make her bed? Like actually?
