  • Tuning a carburetor can be a real pain and without the proper tools it takes a lot of time and effort , but most important, you can never be sure it is tuned correctly.
Installing an O2 Wideband sensor to monitor Air Fuel Ration AFR is the only way.

Please post a full video on the install. You welded in a plug to the header?

I mostly have images and some short clips, I'll try to post something with the footage I have.

Hi there. I'm just looking into AFR gauges. Is that a comolete kit you've got, or did you get a sensor and gauge separately?

    • @goozlo

It's a complete kit from PLX, I got it from amazon because it was on offer. Works fine but the gauge is not waterproof and it's designed for cars mostly. But the controller has a 0-5v output so you can use any gauge you like

The PLX devices are nice, but they actually read quite slow, which is why there’s quite a long delay between blipping the throttle and seeing the numbers fall down and rise again to mid 14s. The AEM X Series sample at 50 times per second, whereas Innovate is around 11 times per second. I don’t know the PLX sampling rate, but it looks similar to Innovate.

is the problem in the sensor or the gauge?

Got myself an afr sensor to tune my carbed bike as well. So it's normal for it to read 17+ after you blip the throttle like that? Thats just fuel being cut and the sensor just reads the air? My bike does this same thing then returns to normal. This happens to me as I downshift as well. I idle at around 12 to 13. While cruising its around 13 or 14 and 3/4 throttle and up it goes 15.

Yes it's normal to go lean when you close the throttle. Your idle is a bit rich, half throttle and 3/4 don't look bad. Have you checked on full throttle at high revs? On full throttle high revs it should be low 13 or below 13 for the safety of the engine

@@goozlo At WOT its at around 14 or 15 gotta test it out again to be sure but I think I need a bigger main jet.

Nice video. So 14.7 is the magic number but this appears to be only on the idle circuit. You need to test the main jet and the slide and to do that, you need to put the MC under load. Try the same test at half and full throttle under power and look at your numbers.

If you watch my other videos, I'm making a custom "ecu" with an esp32 that will collect and log data to my mob while riding
