    Just wanted to express my gratitude for the clear and concise communication and demonstration in this video. Most "How To" videos I've seen on YT are not very easy to follow and understand, without having a certain level of core knowledge on that topic. Partzilla Rulez!!!!!!💯

    Anyway, totally blown away by the 2 drain plug thing. Thanks for help in avoiding rookie mistakes.
    Is there something particular about Honda oil vs Ams, Bel Ray, etc?

    The manual for my 2005 r says drain oil with bike on the side stand to get all old oil out, back upright to fill and check. I checked and this is true.

    Good video! I’d like to point out however that the owners manual calls for anywhere from 3.7 quarts to 3.9 quarts. I use K&N oil filter part number HP 1010. It’s a little bit longer than the factory style oil filter which means you can pour in 4 quarts even and you’re good to go. You will have to remove the bolts for the coolant reservoir to create enough room to install the filter. No you do not have to remove the coolant reservoir, we just have to move it a little bit and bolt it back on. I’ve been running mobile one with the HP 1010 oil filter for five years. 150 thousand miles on my machine and it still hauls balls. LOL!

      Wow, that is very inspiring to hear :D I'm doing my first change on an 03' 1800. Do you use Semi, or full synthetic? Since you're obviously doing something right, I think it's wise to get tips from people that are in your position.

    With the oil and filter-change kits, i see have come with 4 quarts and 1 crush washer. Shouldn't the kit for the 1800s have 2 crush washers included instead of just one since they have 2 drain plugs?

    My 2006 1800r manual says drain the oil on the side stand to get it all out and check the oil with the bike straight up. I proved this to myself by draining oil while bike was centered on a lift then putting it down on the side stand and getting more oil out. Even the pros should stop and review the manual.

    • @Giitzerland

      semi-synthetic seems to be the popular vote, since reports of full synth causing slippage.

    • @PartzillaParts

      You should check the oil when the bike is upright. Not on sidestand, according to Honda.

    Engine kill switch or Ignition Key?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It doesn't matter. They both cut off electricity to the ignition system. The kill switch is just a safety feature so you don't have to take your hand off the grip.

    • @Giitzerland
      @Giitzerland ปีที่แล้ว

    When checking the oil level, does the bike have to be upright or can you still get an accurate reading if it's on the side stand?
    Also, can this job be done without jacking up the bike? Or is it imperative I get some sort of lift?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the VTX, the bike should be upright to check oil level. On the stand it will look over full. You don't have to jack the bike up, it just makes it easier.
