      Glad you're enjoying our VTX 1800 series, Rbl! We've been thinking about doing some VTX electrical videos -- a no-start trouble shooting video and a no-charge troubleshooting video. Sound like something you'd like to see? Thanks for watching!

    • @rbljackson
      @rbljackson 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      absolutely! I would also REALLY enjoy seeing the valve adjustment procedure. Not sure if that is something you would include because I don't know if any parts replacement is involved, but wanted to mention this one because its an expensive service every 8000 miles. Any VTX related content will be much appreciated! I will definitely be doing the Air, oil, and final drive changes over the winter. Thanks again!

      I'll put VTX valve adjustment on the suggestions list. We have actually been asked for a motorcycle valve adjustment video before; maybe we can get this one in this year. Good idea using the snow season to catch up on those maintenance projects. Until next time, keep the rubber side down, Rbl! See you around the tube.

    Engine oil, Diff fluid ... is there any other similar fluid that needs to be regularly changed on the VTX1800, or is that it? I’m new to cruisers; think I heard that there are three different types to change on older Harleys, for example ... ? 🤔 Thanks 🙏🏼

    I need to see a video on how to bleed out the clutch on my VTX 1800 it honestly feels super tight pulling the clutch in. I have no idea what to do. But thank you for all the videos they have been a great help

    • @PartzillaParts

      We don't have video currently. The clutch slave/bleed nipple should be under the left case cover. Once you have access, it's the same bleed procedure as the front brake. Hope that helps.

    the entire final drive oil change should be done with the bike leaning on it side stand, which mean you did not get all the dirty oil out and you over filled it with new oil.

    John, do you have a video showing the wiring harness for the changing out of the ignition coil packs or just changing out a wire with part numbers? I broke my Front Left wire changing out my plugs, (needs changing anyway as it broke way to easy). I have been all over the web and do not see a video or even parts numbers. Its seemed to be a difficult task for my local dealer to get the part i needed as well. Thanks for all your videos, Steve

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't currently have a video. This is the only diagram we have for the wiring harness and ignition. It should help with finding the part number for the correct replacement. Note: this is the diagram for an 05. If you have a different year, you can select the correct unit and check that diagram.

    Thanks for a great video. I have read else where of people using 75w-90 to 75w-140 synthetic from different product lines. Would this be a problem for the final drive, if I was to use them instead of standard gear oil? If so why?

      Hdppd ok 75w90. listen up son im goimg to school you a bit. the 75w is the cold viscosity the w stands for winter. so its flows better when its cold. and as it heat up the viscosity changes to 90. and as for full synthetic its always better.

    • @PartzillaParts

      It's the breather cap. If it's consistently leaking, you might be overfilled.

  • @Tom-jx9te

    Yeah, I'm confused. Both my owner's manual and honda service manual say to do this (or check) fluid fill with the bike on its side stand. That sounds totally counter-intuitive to me. My valkyrie, which has the pumpkin on the right side (better!), you are to fill and check the gear oil with the bike upright. I guess if you get the correct amount of oil in the VTX pumpkin, whether on the side stand or upright, it should be fine. It's just weird, as every final drive I've worked on, every tranny or transfer case as well, you check and fill to the bottom of the hole with the bike (or vehicle) upright and on level ground. What was Honda thinking here--that they wanted it to be a one-man job, so you can do it all on the side stand?

  • @MrJo1340
    @MrJo1340 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the bike have to be upright or on the side stand? I've seen some videos words on the side stand and this one it was straight up?

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      To fill the proper level, it should be upright. Realistically, it could be done on the stand, if you hold it upright to fill.

    • @PartzillaParts

      It's not necessary to flush. Just change the oil when needed.

    • @madnigerian
      @madnigerian 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Partzilla my fear was I bought my vtx used and I don't know if it ever got changed. I was going to do 2 or 3 changes after 100 miles each just to make sure it was clean. but if you say a change is fine. I guess I could just do that.

    • @PartzillaParts
      @PartzillaParts  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you drain the oil, just make sure there are no metal shavings. If there are, it will warrant further inspection. Fresh oil should do the trick, otherwise.
