What headlight do you have installed on the VTX? Its a nice look. Curious to know which one that is and ease of install. Nevermind...i just found a video you did on it....gonna go check that out!
Roberto Torres I’ve already done it. I just need to edit all the videos. The bike runs a lot better, but I think it’s a combination of adjusting the valves, cleaning the spark plugs and the desmog. The exhaust note is much better , that I can tell.
Thank's for your video, very detailed and usefull. I noticed that you fit a nice foot rest kit with gear selector associated, i supposed that on the right side you have also the brake pedal included. Do you know where i could order in line this kit ? i like also the chromed deflectors that you fit eache side of the front fork, probably very usefull to dim the air pressure above 130 km/h.
Thank you for your video. Very informative. ?, did you have to remove the gas tank each time you filled the radiator up with distilled water and then remove it again to fill with the actual coolant ??
In my bike case, because the pump is inside the tank, I had to lift and put back the tank every time. For bikes where the pump is outside, you can use a temporary tank
@DCF Garage I'm about to tackle this on my 02 1800s. It has been suggested that I use a vacuum refill kit to burp the system, avoiding the need to install the tank and run the bike. Would like to hear your thoughts, please.
My thinking is to avoid buying tools that I will use one in my life because I have tool addiction. It's a bit more work, but it works perfectly. But having the right tool is always better.
@@dcfgarage Thanks for the quick reply. Haven't checked yet, but been told I can get it loaned from my local Napa Parts store. Thinking I might try it. Again....thanks for your opinion and keep those VTX videos coming.
Did you run the bike with the tank down and cap off to let the air out of the coolant? Just wondering how it was done as the pumps in the tank and all. Nice videos by the way.
Thanks Rick. I did exactly that. I left the cap off and just lowered the tank and let the bike run for 5 minutes. Then I turned it off, filled up with coolant and ran it once more.
I have an 02 R model I just bought with only 2,000 miles on it. Getting ready to flush the coolant. Is there not some sort of burping procedure you are supposed to do or just fill it and go?
Not sure. I would get the bike up to temperature and check if there’s water flowing in one of the hoses. I would try replacing the thermostat if the pump is good.
@@dcfgarage awesome, I will be making one. Looks like a way easier way to go about it. Can you just use that for coolant change instead of removing tank?
One thing im working on is my passenger/saddle bag mount. How does it mount on the side with the 3 hex bolts? Do you need additional bolts before you put on?
@@Insaiyanrider It was a slight difference, but good to me. Before I had to be in 4th gear when cruising 40mph or lower. Now I can cruise in 5th gear at 35mph. Makes a difference in such a big v-twin. As far as the exhaust note, I think it's 50% better. More low grunt... much more pleasant.
Hey there love the video and frog visitor 😆. I have been looking for a sissy bar with arm rests just like the one you have. Can you tell me the make/model and where you purchased it? Thank you!

Nice video. Thanks. Now we need to hear it run and hear your opinion on how it turned out and if desmogging helped any.

Love the video !! A lil off subject but is that an after market head lamp??
Yes. I have a video in the channel
Nice, video but is it necessary to run it with cap off? cant you just fill it with new coolant and close cap and put her altogether.
You can do what you said... But you risk trapping air bubbles and have some overheating problems. You'll only know in a hot summer day.

Distilled water is also hungry water. Hungry water can dissolve engine parts to a degree.
I wanted to hear it run!!!
I ran it on this other video where I finished all the work th-cam.com/video/ybcS62mB0bw/w-d-xo.html

I did burp it in the video
Good evening i dont know if you still have the vtx1800 but can i ask do you know any information on the color of the paint on the bike
Hi Terrance. I still have the bike and that color is OEM. I'll find out more information about it and I'll paste it here later
Why would you fill up the overflow tank ?... So it can overflow ? 🤔
I'm going to do this on my 02, but I really want to avoid taking the tank off, it looks to me like it'll work fine; thoughts?
if you can access radiator cap without lifting the tank, go for it!
How do you know if the water pump works or not? Seems like my vtx1800 is running hot.

whats that pink tube you have with the half moon cut out. That looks like a great idea. How do you do that?
That's just a 10 inch PVC pipe with a drilled hole through on one end and a half moon grind on the other end.
@@dcfgarage awesome, I will be making one. Looks like a way easier way to go about it. Can you just use that for coolant change instead of removing tank?

Mine came with a chrome u-shaped bar that bolted to the two bolts on the side that also hold the sissy bar
@@dcfgarage yep that's exactly right. There are 3 bolts on each side. Are those the bolts you use?

You probably have air on the system
With all that room when you tip the tank up you still cant get at the radiator cap without taking the gas tank completely off ?????
F my life😭....
I think you don't need to remove it. I can't remember, but I probably removed it so I could film
Also I find the kickstand almost impossible to bring down with my foot? have you done anything about that?
It's probably overtightened. Mine works fine
Kickstand needs lube periodically. It will extend effortlessly again once it is well lubricated.
