Yes! And if you turn it so the lights are horizontal and the darks are vertical, it really looks like stair steps. Very three dimensional! I just love it! Your whole process shows the “art” at the heart of quilting.

The first one is too angular for my taste. I’m one who prefers precision cutting so I always cut my pieces to exact size before I sew. That helps me with accurate sewing and blocks don’t need trimming. So I was fascinated by your approach: the 5” rectangles didn’t bother you a bit because you knew you could just trim later. So here I was, cringing at the extra fabric and enjoying your discussion/demo of your precision approach to trimming at the same time! I truly enjoy seeing the different paths people take to their quilting destinations. Have you watched The Questioning Quilter channel? You and Brita remind me of each other.

When I use a regular ruler to cut the hst I mark wit with a piece of masking tape for quick easy placement. Love the quilts ....I have no idea which one I like best...

That’s why I love EQ8…you can put the blocks in, change colors and rotate blocks to discover so my “hidden” designs-0-I print them out and let them sit before I finalize my design
