I swam next to a manatee and its calf once. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life. This may sound dramatic, but there is no evil in them. They are pure.
What I think is funny is how these scientist let the kid aboard simply to keep him from boredom not knowing he'd be the one years later continuing their mission.. all because the let the kid on the boat. Could you imagine that..?

I dreamed of being a marine biologist when I was young but couldn't stay focused on science and lab work in college, I found it terribly dull and I wanted to be out in the water with the sea life. Feeling defeated, I chose another path. I'm so jealous of your boldness and tenacity at 11, that I didn't have at 20, to find a way to do what you loved without using the traditional route. I'm now 50 and I'm going to check on some local volunteer possibilities. Thanks.

Manatees are one of my favorite animals. I remember as a little kid being so excited that I won tickets to the aquarium and I got to see the rescue manatees. I still have the momma and baby manatee stuff animals I got that day. It was the summer before I entered 1st grade so like 25 years ago now.
People all over the world need to be educated on the damage throwing garbage in nature does. Many poor people just don’t know any better there is no garbage man but things are changing in many countries rich and poor

Manatees are one of my favorite animals. I remember as a little kid being so excited that I won tickets to the aquarium and I got to see the rescue manatees. I still have the momma and baby manatee stuff animals I got that day. It was the summer before I entered 1st grade so like 25 years ago now.

People all over the world need to be educated on the damage throwing garbage in nature does. Many poor people just don’t know any better there is no garbage man but things are changing in many countries rich and poor
@@kaship98 I absolutely agree. But the way companies keep making and packaging it is very difficult. I grew up in the 60's when pretty much nothing was plastic and we did just fine. I know there are so beyond many more things today, but if we really wanted to we would find a way.
What an incredible experience as a child that literally formed his entire life! Jamal is an amazing human being for his work, being involved from such a young age he’s no doubt aided in the safety of so many lives.

Yes, and the adults are also beautiful. I sometime see them in zoos, they float between waters very peacefully. It's very relaxing to watch them.
