1. Yes, you are correct! As I mentioned, ignorance is the minuscule craving (thirst) level, which is the first step in the Paticchchasamuppada cycle. Duality starts with ignorance and ends when it is absent. 2. They talk about consciousness/awareness connecting to the universal consciousness rather than the Mind. Vinyana/mind is built upon duality, and it is absent in the emptiness or Animitta state. Emptiness, Universal Consciousness, Nirvana, Absolute Truth, Oneness, etc., describe the same experience of awakening or enlightenment. Those words point to the experience of non-self beyond conceptual speculations. I appreciate your questions, which would also help others on the path. Thank you!

In the discussion, a view was expressed that Shutting down of activity of Vinyana is similar to shutting down the television. My understanding on this is as follows. One has to understand with wisdom that objects appearing on the TV are just electrons or pixels, arising and passing away all the time. It is not real, due to ignorance, people react emotionally to movie on the screen. Screen can be compared to Vinyana, things appear and disappear rapidly on the screen. If you touch the screen, you dont get the object, but the glass or roughness. This was explained very well by Ven Katukurnde Nanananda thero in his books. Your comments appreciated.
What appears on the TV screen, e.g., News, Teledrama, etc., is the vinyasa or panchupadaanaskanda (which includes Vinyana). The TV screen itself is your awareness. The Mind (vinyasa) and attention (awareness) are two faculties that we mistakenly consider one. My understanding is Vinyana at animitta level, is just pure awareness or consciousness. Even Rupert spira or Eckhart believes that too. Isn't that like the screen on the TV or movie. Whether movie is there or not, screen will not change. A wise person can watch what is appearing in the screen with the understanding, that he is only watching the screen, and other things are not real. Anyway I have to go through your You tube link first, before I make further comments. Your interest in in western spiritual teaches and also original Buddhist sutras along with your meditation practice makes it unique , to provide support to yogis from different spectrums.
