- The Grand Highlander is large and in charge from Toyota. On the outside you will discover a midsize 3-row, 20in wheels, LED lighting and 360 degree camera. On the inside you will be greeted by a soft-tex interior, panoramic sunroof and digital gauge cluster. Under the hood is a 2.4L turbocharged inline-4 hybrid. Joe your reviews are always the Best. I bought a GH limited hybrid in May 2024 and could not be happier. It is so quiet and comfortable and gas consumption is less than my last Honda Civic. It was worth waiting for 6 months to get the regular hybrid just to be on safer side than a turbo 4 cylinder. One of my friend has a 2021 Highlander V6 and I drive that so many times, surprisingly the power is almost the same on this hybrid. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I watched your video last year when GH was launched. Love from Canada.

Do you know if they will offer the 2nd row bench for this one? I am not a big fan of the 2nd captains chairs in general, as I want the most seating as possible. I do agree about the arm rests too. Love all your videos! Leave Stephen alone lol

Have the limited in same color. This car is awesome. Space, speed and stability with luxury and sport mix. Rocks in the snow as well.
I'm a little bit confused Joe. On Toyota's website they only have the cvt for this specific model and trim. Don't see the 6 speed?

KIA lose 60% of its value after 6 year of ownership.
toyota only lose 30-40% of its value after 10 years of ownership.
II gave up buying used toyota and honda. just too expensive for used car. crazy.
I'm definitely gonna consider the Grand Highlander for my next vehicle purchase. The fact that the 2nd and 3rd rows are passenger focused is impressive.

Hey joe I bought my grand highlander about a month ago,I got the limited XP X series full blacked out panoramic roof digital surprise me how a cylinder turbo move this huge truck,best in class in my opinion.

Thanks for so many great details about this car. I wish this vehicle had an independent opening rear glass, so you don't have to open the full liftgate every time.
I know some folks don't like the Rav4 styling of this car, but I think it works. Now, I wanted to get this car last year, but ended up getting a 2023 Highlander XLE, and am not happy with the 4-cyl engine, so I'd love to know if you've driven / reviewed a non-Hybrid Grand Highlander for comparison.

I have a 2009 Highlander, and I waited until Toyota designed a new highlander. This is it! But no solution to the recall for side airbags, I will wait and see.

This is the exact model and color I'd want, except the interior color. Great reviews as always, my kids love to watch them too!
Personally, I went hybrid for the better fuel economy. Great choice to go for the max though. Power is worth it if you’re not worried about mpg.

The power sunroof is all one touch. It is a long hold to get it to go all the way back but it does.

Got the Limited Base Hybrid, and except for the bit of noise under acceleration, we love it. Because I'm a bit fussy, I'd love it even more if it was quieter and a bit more comfortable (everyone who's ridden in it, says I'm to damn fussy and hard to please.
LOVE the MPG's 32-36 over-all. Love the xtra space and would purchase again, (unless I will the lottery:)
4 months old, 10,000 miles and so far, trouble free (as well is should be). A bit more of a test coming up in the following months. Short trip to NY, then 3 weeks later a trip from Maine to Indianapolis and back, (about 10+ days) then 9 days later a trip to NY, OH, IN, WI, MI, NY and back to Maine (about 21 - 22 days). This long trip is with friends, so that should be a real good test of it for practicality as a traveling SUV. Expect to get 26-30 MPG on this trip, anything more I'll see as a bonus. It will be fully loaded and with a roof cargo box fully loaded

Anybody know if this is the same hybrid Toyota been using for decades? Just wondering g about the reliability of this more complex hybrid system.
The Hybrid MAX is not the same as a traditional Hybrid system. A traditional Hybrid is offered on the XLE and Limited models though. I got the Hybrid Limited and I’ve averaged nearly 31 mpg for my first 11k miles and have seen as high as 42 for a single trip.
The hybrid MAX drivetrain had an electric motor between the engine and transmission to add power. This is more for acceleration than fuel economy. It is similar to or same as the hybrid systems on the Tundra, Tacoma, and Crown.

Being the Platinum trim for 60k, Toyota needs to improve the interior and get rid of the flat black plastic around the fenders. Like the engine specs and exterior design tho. Great review as always Joe!

I'd take the Telluride. Both the Palisade and Telluride indirectly urged Toyota to make the Grand Highlander, as they were tough competition for the Highlander. By the way, the Telluride is still selling, unlike the GH and TX🤌🏼

The sizes should go small-midsize, midsize, and large-midsize. I think that would help curb confusion and streamline the purchase decision for customers.
Drove this then a Telluride sx prestige Xline and bought the Telluride and my family couldn't be happier

@@4rson I owned five Toyotas in my life and never had a transmission issue or anything else. I owned a Tacoma, Corolla, FJ Cruiser, RAV4 and my wife another Corolla and a Highlander Hybrid. Oil change and regular maintenance and you just drive. They hold value like no other brand.
Make sure your vehicle is in a garage. A coworker’s Hyundai was stolen from the front of his house. True story someone stole it to go to a Job fair. I wish you good luck with your ride.

We just had to cancel our order😂. We ordered hybrid in May now one week from production it was stopped with a possible Oct delivery. Decided this was just a too long process and cancelled . We have purchased another brand . Maybe in future. We tried

A large number of these (2024) have an airbag recall, just something to be aware of if considering one.

This wins for resale value and possibly longevity. Kia wins in pretty much everything else. I would choose the 4Runner over both. I would probably choose the Mazda CX-70 or 90 over them all. Joe knows that just because this is a Grandma SUV doesn't mean you have to drive it like one. Great review of just an "okay" SUV. 😊✌️

I’ll take the telluride since that has a NA V6 and looks better in my opinion. I don’t trust a turbo 4 banger hybrid in a suv this size. Yes you get more power and torque. Downsizing engines isn’t a good idea shame many competitors are doing so thanks epa
