I was able to break the top bolt loose with a 1/4” ratchet, 2” extension and deep well socket. That was the right length for me to get past the solenoid and the 1/4” ratchet was short enough to clear the frame rail. You can only loosen a little with this set up until the ratchet is pinned against something else in there and you can’t take it off of the nut. Just break it loose, then use a flexible 1/4” driver. Worked awesome!

I can’t post a picture. So, a flexible driver is like a screwdriver that has a 1/4” driver tip. Instead of a solid shaft between the handle and tip, it’s a tightly wound spring that allows it to bend.

Yes, The exhaust manifold it right there too. Once the engine is cooled down you can dive into replacing the starter.
