    Did this myself today. Disconnecting the battery is a good idea. All in took me 20 minutes. Wife is thrilled her car is no longer screeching. My bolts were star bolts. I used a 3/8s socket. It worked perfectly. 0 damage to the bolts.

    Omg thank you!!! I didn’t have to take the bolts off. I just sprayed the entry points with WD40 and reinserted the old one and it worked. I will keep the new one just in case. Thank again!!! 🎉

    Thanks. I bought a new cable AU$33. I used a fork to pop out cable, inserted new one, no battery disconnect, no seat removal, took 90 seconds at the most. Amazing. I have a quote from Mazda coming to fix the problem. Should be interesting.

    Thanks for the solution. I do have a much easier way to do this however. No need to take any bolts out and it takes about 5'. 1. Raise seat all the way up (both front and rear). 2. Move seat all the way back. 3. Under the front of the seat, remove the three plastic push pins holding the fabric upholstery and then push upholstery to the rear. 4. Move seat all the way forward. 5. Lift upholstery up to expose the part needing replacement. 6. lift part out of holders and pull out. 7. reinstall new part. 8. Put upholstery back in front and pin it in. 9. Done

      I didn't want to buy a new part. So i tried lubricating it and re-installing. No more screeching. I didn't remove the push pins, and pulled it out from the front which was probably a little more annoying and my legs were flailing like something out of a horror movie. But it's done.
      Tysm!!

    Thank you for this. Until I saw this video and read a few articles, I was thinking that I would have to spend over $1,000 for this at a shop. I think I may give this a try myself. Now my wife will disagree but when I tell her that I can save us that much money she might give me the go ahead.

    I have exactly the same car and the same problem. My seats are bolted in with the bolts that look like a reverse torx screw. I only tried one with a 10mm and may have rounded it. Anyway it looks to me like raising the seat all the way up will give plenty of room to remove the cable without removing the cable. Hopefully this works. I may try lubricating the cable first. Wish me luck. I ssume the cable is flexible enough to pry it up in the centre to free the ends?

    • @aaronpayne1058
      @aaronpayne1058  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@aaronpayne1058 I finally got around to fixing my CX-5 screeching seat adjuster. Your video really helped. I was able to do it in about 10 minutes without removing the seat. I simply lubricated the cable and the screeching stopped. I created a short video to help others, but the credit goes to you for pointing me in the right direction. Thanks again!

    Gracias por la ayuda, pero tengo un mazda 3 GT 2018, y no pude sacar ese eje, se ve distinto al del video y no me fue tan fácil sacarlo, intenté lubricarlo sin quitarlo, mejoró el ruido, pero no en su totalidad, gracias de todas formas, lo llevaré a mazda a ver qué me dicen

    @Atrocities85 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mines way worse 🤣 I've been meaning to replace it.
    It's flexible. Just pull it out. It's kind of annoying because there isn't a lot of light or room to remove it and place it back.
    Otherwise relatively easy fix.

      I knew it! Very shortly after 2016 CX-5 was out of warranty that crazy screaching started and the dealer told me that it was caused by something like a water bottle bending the track. They must have already known!!! Has anyone had luck in getting Mazda to make the repair? Beyond that, really disappointed in how much the exterior trim pieces have eroded - the fin piece on the top looks like it was set on fire. Have never had these quality issues with previously owned Hondas, Acuras and Toyotas. Love my CX-5 but Mazda should do better!
