Mazda needs to do a recall or free service on this issue. I’ve owned two 2013 CX-5’s and this has got to be a specific issue to this model. First one got into a crash and had the same issue, recently looked at another one and it had the same exact issue. It’s insane. Anyways, thank you for making this video. I’ve been looking for something like this for months! Super helpful!
I agree! Mine just popped out today(2018 model), not broke, and now I'm driving with my tippy toes to get home so I can try and get it fixed. This is ridiculous!
I'm glad to hear this video was helpful!!! I thought it was going to be a useless video nobody watched, but three comments right here make it all worth it. I hope you're all able to get it fixed!!! I will say it is much louder than the stock part but that doesn't bother me at all. It actually makes me smile every time cause I know I did it myself and saved thousands of dollars cause Mazda's fix was to replace the whole seat 🙄
Excellent video! I took the easier way and bought the piece online, but should have dived in first since I realized that the short piece had just popped out and not broken. So that would be my only advice to others is to fully diagnose before buying piece online or making a new one. evidently this popping out issue has happened to others in this comment stream. Regardless, your videos saved the day!
Bro, you are a life saver. Never thought I'd find exactly what I was looking for to fix this specific issue. Currently taking a break because my grinder battery needs charged but I pulled the motor out with the spring the same way you found yours. And said exactly, "oh baby" 😂 i get the full use of my seat back again!
Well done 👍🏼 I have a 2023 CX5. I’ve seen under the seat as I fitted an alarm module under there. I recall that long black rod but not the short one on the motor side. Mine should ok as I’m the only driver so now it’s adjusted it won’t be played with.
oh wow! that's a lot of work and special tools needed. i got the '14 cx-5 and i have the same problem with my seat. Thank you though for having this content up. at least now i got an idea on what's the problem. and nope i am not paying 2k+ for it to get foxed either
Hey I just wanted to stop by and say thank you so much I’m moving to New Mexico in a few weeks and my wife has to drive our Mazda cx5 10+hrs and she has bad knees and can’t drive a lot let alone now bc of our broken car seat you are a literal life saver man !!! I woke up around 4am and looked non stop to find out what’s wrong I figured it was the moto but when I stumbled upon your video I realized my Mazda had the same messed up wire stock thing! You’re a hero!
Thanks bro worked perfect. Mine didn’t break, but did pop out so all I had to do was re put it in. Be careful when tighting because it can make small axle part bend.
Holy shit dude, you're my hero. I had this exact problem on a 2017 mazda 6 and this worked perfectly. I used the part you linked in your info. Thank you!
thank you for this video, because now I know what's wrong with my car. Dealership is saying 2K to fix, but mine isn't broke, it just popped out. They really should do a recall on this!
A recall under the category of safety. Having a broken seat can be unsafe. And it looks like lots of them are breaking. My wife's 2014 Mazda CX-5 Grand Touring just lost the left side of the driver's seat.
Thank you for posting that. Had the same problem but could not find the problem. Could not find the square rod so I used a Philips drill bit cut it and machined the other end.
Thank you Mr. Borsellino for giving me the confidence to remove the motor and fabricate the piece myself. I had a hard time, just holding the light and using one hand to work on the parts, and you filmed that somehow? I feel like I had had it easy because I could access it from the front, but careful there are sharp parts under there For some reason when I bolted the motor down tight, it stopped working, until I loosen the bolts again, but the torque of the motor will vibrate the bolts loose, not sure what to do next… Any advice would help
When doing any work AT ALL on something with an air bag ALWAYS Remove all power! Any surge/spark/bump could deploy the bags! I assure you the 5 secs it takes to remove negative battery will save you thousands when it goes south! If it deploys Now you need a whole new seat as it rips seat cover to deploy possibly need new air bag controller module also will need reprogrammed after new air bags in.. even if you are changing the dome light in your car take 5 secs and unhook the negative! Speaking from experience you can and will eventually fry thousands of dollars in electronics in your car! On a mazda 3 the trunk light has no fuse protection I learned when inserting new bulb and metal touched the sides of housing it shorted the entire rear body control module as mazda was too cheap to add a .01c fuse. It Also needed programed. Doesn’t matter if it’s working on the stereo or changing a light ALWAYS unhook battery! Do what you want but you’ve been warned
@@joshymcdaniel9233thank you I’m working on it as we speak, discounnexted the negative terminal just to be safe. Ended up cutting the square bar to 2”, a little bit too big, gunna have to hand file it in a vice because I’m no longer in possession of a grinder lol
Great video I did exactly as you did and it works great! My fiance had a 2014 and hers has been broken awhile. So it has to be the metal they use or something. But either way it should be recalled.

The good news it works. The scary news is it reminds me of my ex g/f's vibrator. haha Nice job man, I might even be able to do this PIA repair! -Glen

My fiance has a 2014 and it has the same issue. I thank you so much for making this video. I at least have a great starting point. Love from Idaho
My 2017 Mazda 6 is having this same exact issue. Glad you did a video on this, going to try and fix mine this weekend.

Great job, I need to do the same on my 2016.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Ended up buying the part form AliExpress but glad I stumbled upon this video and the forum you posted in
Hey how was your experience with the AliExpress part? Still working? Is it just as loud? TIA
@@Sendegoworked great. I installed it a couple weeks ago and it’s great. The same loudness as the original part.
Could you please share the part # or link on the site? Thank you
Could you send us the link pls?

Does anyone have an update on a specific part that can be bought? Otherwise, great video champ🙏

Hi I changed the part but bought the part from ebay for $19 dlls ripoff. It did fix my seat but it is very noisy
Can you really set the airbags off just by unplugging the seat motor?
