Do you know how many dudes would have never shown the runs just to fib the job? But you took accountability for your bad and didn't even blame the paint like some would. Good on you brother 🎉
Always start at the top first and and work your way outwards. That way you have less chance of runs due to excessive paint (although I think you just laid it on way too thick on the side of the hood) and less chance of you or your air hose rubbing up against wet paint. For a first time, not bad. My first time I mixed the paint/thinner ratio backwards and got spit balls all over the hood. Paint was way too thick for the gun to atomize. Fortunately it was fairly easy to remove them, remix, and shoot again. Came out great. Live and learn. As for the naysayers here, LEARN FROM HIS EXPERIENCE so you don't make the same errors. As for the runs, there's a technique you can use to remove runs, although you have a LOT there. spread a thin layer of bondo over the area, let it dry, and start wet sanding it. The bondo protects the lower paint while you sand off the runs. As you get close to level, use finer wet sand paper. As soon as all the bondo is sanded away, the runs will be gone too. Takes practice so you don't sand right through the paint. For you, I'd re-sand the whole fender and edge of hood and re shoot.
Honestly I don't care about runs on a solid color at all. Worst case sand down and respray which was exactly what we did. Fixed it in 45 min no big deal 🙂
Single stage paint jobs are perfectly acceptable. I've done hundreds. For a while I used a "recipe" that worked really well. It was basically a cheap enamel mixed with a good brand name catalyst and high-end reducer. It worked very well, laid down smooth, and stayed nice and glossy for years later. I even did a few family members' cars this way. Now you won't colour match and blend with the same success as 2 stage jobs, but for low cost, all-over jobs, it worked fine and had very acceptable results. Practice and knowing your equipment will go a long way to preventing runs.
This was a situation where I had a small paint reaction and tried putting a little more paint on it which developed into a run. I've sprayed paint all the way down to 25 degrees no runs at all.. Sometimes we just have them days lol
Hey good job on that paint job Marco! Just so you know I used Rustoleum reduced down because it was cheap and then used speedokote paint over that then the speedokote clear and it turned out great, I use this method when I can not spend the money on a sealer. Rustoleum is cheap and only needs something like acetone to reduce it 1/3. The sheen I use is satin then the actual base coat over that and it turns out PERFECT! Anyway another cheap way to get great results on a budget
I had a deadline, so as soon as I saw that metal starting to cry, I wiped those tears off the entirety of the vendor very meticulously might I add. Then i sprayed that thing as the surrounding paint was beginning to tack up. It worked! GREAT VIDEO. THANKS

I can save it myself....just don't have the space for paint work. It's been a good truck since 24k miles. It now has 183k on it.
$150 paint...... Thats gotta be the cheapest junk on the market. The hardener I use cost over a hundred bucks a quart. I guess its good for practice painting on your own stuff ???
Painting my car one panel at a time and doing exactly the same type of paint job. Tiger stripes are a real struggle though, gonna have those if you don't lay down extra coats even if it looks good in the shop.
Great job! For a future job paint the hood and tailgate separate and remove the head and tail lights. Wipe it down with 50/50 alcohol and water. Prime it and dry it. Tak rag it. 4 coat it and move faster. White is one of the easiest colors to run. You sprayed it too heavy. I guess if you want cheap you get cheap
Yes it would. And you can do it over single stage if you wanted to.. you just have to be easy on the prep work as to not sand irregular that produces color differences so that when you drop coat pearl in clear coat - it won't show thru..... My best advice is to use grey scotchie pads and scuff up the single stage just prior to full cure... Add pearl to clear coat and proceed with a "tack coat" with increased gun distance with 75% overlap with an immediate cross cross orientation coat as soon as you complete a panel so the pearls flow out... Follow up with 2 full wet coats.. Now get er done !!!
how much would it cost for everything ? like premier and all, how much is that usually? I have 17 ram limited, been thinking of making it blue, or black lol
You can't complain about the feedback you are getting - At least you're getting feedback !!! As a painter myself , I'll send Noobies to the paint supplier & they always come back and say they spent way more $ than expected..!!! And I tell them "Yep, paint isn't cheap"... 2 rolls of tape is $15 - that's literally 1/10th the cost of what you're advertising.!!! Haha
Hey Marco, my 1978 Camaro is a bit rusty in some areas. The internet is mixed with information. How can I cure/convert it and seal it before I put paint on it?
You cut the rust out of its rotten and weld new steel in.. if its sirface rist you clean it up with a wire wheel or disk.. then prime it. Gatta clean to shiny metal
I have a question, I had to use bondo glass for a few dents in my car , I used upol primer sealer after I finished the body work ,, the car still has to be primed , can I use a ss-2790 2k high build primer /sealer without a chemical reaction

4 grand um no ,,, get spray gun and paint it yourself spend some time learning how to sweep with a sprayer and layer timing learn a new skill and send the 4 grand to me for giving you good advice and encouraging you to learn a valuable life long skill 😁😏

My daily driver is a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Daytona edition. The color is GoMango. It's rusting now....clearcoat peeling....rust bubbles under the paint. I really hate to get rid of it. I can save it myself....just don't have the space for paint work. It's been a good truck since 24k miles. It now has 183k on it.
If your close by we could knock it out. I only charge 10 bucks for an estimate
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 , I'm in IN......near Indy.
SO HOW DID YOU FIX THAT BIG RUN IN PAINT ????? VERY CURIOUS
Sand and repaint just that fender.... Took all of 45 min
Exelente bro que no te importe los malos comentarios
$150 paint...... Thats gotta be the cheapest junk on the market. The hardener I use cost over a hundred bucks a quart. I guess its good for practice painting on your own stuff ???
Most ppl claim summit is kirker?.. I've used it a on cheap track car before held up fine, would probably chalk up if it sat in the sun for years.
Welp you tell me? The end result is a happy customer and a decant glossy paint job . I think 150 bucks ain't bad
Who cares what they say you did a awesome job thats all it’s matter
Agree
Is a gallon more than enough for say a mustang?
Absolutely
But you didn't count the electricity used during this video and the job. Enjoy your videos look forward to the next one.
😂 true. Electricity is about 10-20 bucks a day for my shop
Did he account for paint sticks and filters?
@@RustyZipper don't use them.
They use to paint 🎨 the first cars with brushes and then they buffed crap out of them
Painting my car one panel at a time and doing exactly the same type of paint job. Tiger stripes are a real struggle though, gonna have those if you don't lay down extra coats even if it looks good in the shop.
Yea just cross hatch your paint and your good
Beautiful, excellent & superior job....
Thanks!!!
Wow, thats clean job! Respect!
Thanks!
I’ve never seen a run that bad tbh lol. $150 paint jobs with $80 on the driver side fender
It was by far one of the biggest screw ups iv had. It was fixed customer was happy
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 hey man “stuff” happens lol. Glad ya got it worked out. Cool videos btw, keep it up.
What paint ratio to activator did you use for the summit paint
I start 4-1-1
Sometimes ad just a splash more reducer depending on how it lays out

It will last a very long time
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 ok thank you so much so it a regular good auto single stage paint
@@Zoompipes good single stage. Good quality
These must be American prices as you don't get a roll of paper for $30.00 here.
Im in America so that would. Be correct
also bulk purchase price im sure
It would be nice to see a blue pearl over the white
Run of the mill paint job these days. Not really cool anymore
What kind of spray gun do you use?. I was using the spectrum gun. Now I just bought the black widow spray going to try it out today.
I sell the same exact gun just different colors. And less money..... 🙃
@@speedokoterefinishnetwork4937 were can i purchase?
Came out nice
how much would it cost for everything ? like premier and all, how much is that usually? I have 17 ram limited, been thinking of making it blue, or black lol
Not anything close to 150$ if you plan on paying a shop to do it.
Hoods on those rams are to reach across and spray. I’m 6ft 3. And it’s hard for me to reach the middle of it lol
Lol everyone is wondering the secret trick I do.. And it works perfect every time 😂😂😂
You can't complain about the feedback you are getting - At least you're getting feedback !!!
Haha
I get tape wholesale at 1.50$ a roll ish
Hey Marco, my 1978 Camaro is a bit rusty in some areas. The internet is mixed with information. How can I cure/convert it and seal it before I put paint on it?
Trc 15 from speedokote. Works like a charm.
Sales rep Marco type me in if you order
You cut the rust out of its rotten and weld new steel in.. if its sirface rist you clean it up with a wire wheel or disk.. then prime it. Gatta clean to shiny metal
Where are you located I want a paint job for $150
Did you read description for video?
I have a question, I had to use bondo glass for a few dents in my car , I used upol primer sealer after I finished the body work ,, the car still has to be primed , can I use a ss-2790 2k high build primer /sealer without a chemical reaction
Should be fine make sure surface is clean and sanded
Where did you get the rolls from

hey man i really want to get my truck done(exact same truck) and i have barely any money to spare for a paint job, i live in southwest florida and was wondering what i should look for or if there’s any companies that you would know of that could get my truck done cheap, at least around a grand or so.. i looked at maaco and they were at 4 grand and the entire truck was 4 grand i can’t put that much into paint. so your suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Idk anyone who would spray it for a grand. Your going to have to DIY in my opinion man.
4 grand um no ,,, get spray gun and paint it yourself spend some time learning how to sweep with a sprayer and layer timing learn a new skill and send the 4 grand to me for giving you good advice and encouraging you to learn a valuable life long skill 😁😏
Ah! I thought you were just going for that dripping wet look with the paint 😜

I’m planning my first ever paint job on my second gen dodge
Got some hail dents on the hood roof and finders…
Plus a few years ago I hired the wrong guy to paint it and he sure messed up the whole truck so it’s time to start from bare
With bare metal should I use etching primer?
Yes for sure
Speedokote selles the smr225 it sprays super super flat and perfect for bare metal applications.

Block sand primer up to 600 grit

you do good work for a ginger, lol i'm joking brother i like your single stage videos i use summit paint because i can get in about 2 or 3 days how long do you wait for speedokote i would like to try it, i reduce the summit paint alot and it will lay flat like glass that way with harder and the activator the harder makes very glossy give it a shot next time you use summit brother. thanks for the video
We are usually the same about 2-4 days shipping!
Our speedokote single stage paints lay out very flat without having to add a bunch of reducer . That's what I like about them.. you could actually see the difference between the two in the video and which one was easyer to spray and layed flatter

Can last up to 10 years
