When Jenny cut off toulka off from replying to her, I wished he just said "are you actually going to make an investment or are you just here for the air time" that would go down a storm ! And then all the other dragons slow claps and Jenny leaves with no investment the end

There's plenty of entrepeneurs in this show that's going in and have crazy expansionists plans saying that they sold two items last year and project to sell 20 billion items this year. My favorite part of the comments is that we can all come together in a spirit of peace and unity around the fact that Jenny was horrible. Often rude, rarely invested, and just generally pointless.
They should be able to. I imagine its simply from a television shooting point of view. Guests fumbling through notes is probably not the best television. The flip side is if you have a definitive valuation surely you can have 5 profit figures ready and rhymed off along with the prepared pitch. Its also a guaranteed question. It seems evasive to me from entrepreneurs when they fumble over them. The best pitches and the successful ones have these figures at hand because they are the ace card of the pitch. The dragons will invest in dust of the profits are present and impressive.
@@paulmallon9292 It wasn't just 5 figures though, it's 3 figures (turnover, gross, and net) for each year you've been in business - so in this case 15 figures. That's a lot to remember when you've also got to remember your 15 minute pitch

@@Roisinblacm Most likely the case. I commented elsewhere that it's most likely from a simple television point of view, contestants fumbling through notes isn't ideal from a shooting perspective. But if you're going to have a concrete valuation you should surely know profit figures. It's a guaranteed question. It does seem somewhat evasive when entrepreneurs fumble over them. They are more or less the entire pitch and if in order, can almost guarantee an investment if present and impressive.

Good grief what part of what Peter said do t you understand? He clearly asked about why she was stagnant for 4years. She said it was because she was Australian & Jenny explained she didnt know the state of her visa for those 4 years. Afterwards she mentions that she is now allowed to stay indefinitely on her visa. He was questioning her numbers for those years after she started off saying she was stocked in every upmarket shop in UK. Pretty simple unless you are looking to complain about 10 min clips on youtube channels then maybe this was a win for you?
Amazon will probably sell them at 1.24 knowing their strategy; kill the competition by cutting prices, making a loss, and using profits from other departments of the business to cover the losses, then end up with less competitors and more sales.
I don't see how it was a hard extraction, she explained she wasn't sure how her visa situation would work out and Peter didn't get it then, she likely thought he understood she wasn't sure she'd be allowed to stay in the UK but he didn't, Deborah was the one that realised the problem she wanted to explain and helped her out by rephrasing it for her as she didn't think to rephrase it herself

Damn Tej got a good deal there, essentially slashed the valuation from £1.5m to £187,500 lol, bet the other dragons were wishing they tried that, pretty ballsy.

Haven't had the opportunity to say this in a while but the dragons played themselves so hard on this one. This B'Tempted business is EVERYWHERE. Amazon, Harrods, Selfridges, Morrisons, Black Truffle etc. Tej probably got his money back in the first 6 months. What an investment.
Sadly, they've dissolved now.

I’ve been in visa limbo before, you never know when you may have to pick up stakes & leave everything behind or get the go ahead to build a life. I didn’t realise that was such a foreign concept to otherwise educated people.
Yeah that was weird. Maybe it was edited strangely, idk. But as shown, she said "I'm Australian so I had visa issues" and the response was "so it's because you're Australian"... what? She clearly gave the reason already so why did they ask her to repeat the reason?
Damn, what country wouldn't want you to be a resident. I would wet and stamp your passport any day.

If she was passionate about the business she still would have worked with it in the meantime.

When Jenny cut off toulka off from replying to her, I wished he just said "are you actually going to make an investment or are you just here for the air time" that would go down a storm ! And then all the other dragons slow claps and Jenny leaves with no investment the end
hahaha!
I thought that waiting for her citizenship/papers before going all in was a smart idea. If she would have expanded and then denied and had to leave that would have been horrible.
If I was starting a new business on my own and my residency was up in the air I would keep it small until I knew the outcome.
Me too. And I don't get why it's such a bad thing to keep things small. There's plenty of entrepeneurs in this show that's going in and have crazy expansionists plans saying that they sold two items last year and project to sell 20 billion items this year. I think that as long as you're making a profit, you can never go to small.

Tej, Touker, and Deborah are the best of the Dragons, imo. They're almost always helpful whether they invest or not, and Tej in particular is just classy. He's always focused on business but never rude. Touker can be pretty blunt but isn't really rude either. Deborah I've seen being rude a few times but she's almost always constructive regardless.
My favorite part of the comments is that we can all come together in a spirit of peace and unity around the fact that Jenny was horrible. Often rude, rarely invested, and just generally pointless.
And also tried to compete with Evan's role with her bad puns

Aussie: “Good on ya, drongo! What’s your brand of tucker?”
Jenny: “OUTback.”
Are they not allowed to bring in notes during the pitch with their numbers?
Shut it slug eyes
@@rje613 The pitches go on for longer than 15 mins. They are edited down. They never seem to have a problem remembering turnover. Specifically profits in most cases. Even if its 10 figures. Know them.
@@paulmallon9292 appreciate the insight, def makes sense. But personally, I can see how this can be a high-pressure situation and someone can easily blank out. Doesn't mean they haven't got a good business/product, how does having notes take away from the value of their idea? Feels primitive.

She didn’t add that she had since received leave to stay
Great observation 100% agree
I've watched many of these videos and learnt two things: no dragon is happy with 5% of a business and the fastest way to fail is to set a £million + valuation based on low or flat sales. I've also heard that half the deals made on the show never happen afterwards, so what you see is not what you get.
that wink was a bad move. Jenny is clearly straight and therefore got out!
