50026 on the load bank to help sort out issues with the power unit. The load bank helped these issues and the loco will soon be on and about out the rail network.
WOW she's sounds absolutely fantastic. Closed my eyes and I was back in the 1980's leaning out the window from Reading to Oxford belting through Tilehurst, Pangbourne, and the rest of em before arriving at Oxford then doing it all again in reverse, Magic.
Brings back a whole lot of memories this does! Padd to Worcester in the early 80's, The Lickey, BNS etc etc. and then it all went rapidly down hill from there. Fookin awesome, thanks for posting this, top stuff.
@FastlineFred The power unit was kicking out 2516 horses the power unit is rated at 2700hp but when you take into account all the auxiliaries running it bring the horse power down.
@TONYBROWNE114 Nice to see you here Tony! Hows it going?! I agree, they went to so much expense on the refurbs and at a time when 37'5's were getting alternators. Even when the 50's were built, EE knew that the DC machine was running at its maximum / very high output for its comparitive small size. It was doomed from the out set.
Having an emotional experience with my machine in the 1980s I saw her dead in the scrap yard so now I’m in a place of YES NESS as I’m old but my machine still looks as new
Although a shame it was very interesting to have it caught on tape, seeing the loco rock and the smoke...I do feel for the guys and Rabi but im sure they can fix it soon enough.
Hellfire chief anyone asked or has uploaded this to a sound chipped Hornby class 50? would sound better than the Valiant version they are using in 50015 & 50037.

Just what I was thinking, used to get the weekly Reading - Oxford season ticket.... what great days they were !
Have to agree, it sounds bloody marvelous to me. Eveybody that's worked on 50026 must be really chuffed.

The Carlsberg of Class 50 thrash! I remember being spattered in oil whilst listening to this run at Eastleigh open day.
I'm back at the first window climbing Honiton Bank! Thanks for the memories!!
That noise is just beast!! Thanks for sharing. ;)
Sounds all the more sweet knowing the amount of effort that's gone into getting this far so she can run - nice one!
Yep, of all the miles i travelled behind them back then, i only had one failure, at Goring & Streatley behind a Pad to Oxford with 50033 in 1983.

Fantastic to hear what a 50 sounds like while under load, Thanks for posting a great video!
I remember a cracking run behind 026 from Slough to Reading back in the late 80s. Head out the window all the way!
One beast of an engine amazing sound ,love the turbo fan sounds...
That certainly is a load sucker, but a different view.
i see a warning to get out the ear defenders i'm cranking up the volume
Thumping good times. The effect of the vibrations on the camera make it look like the whole depot was shaking.
@ACTractionLTD The power unit sound very good and was running a lot better than it had previously been after a couple of hours on the Load Bank.
Very Nice This,Sound well them engines when opened up.''''
Nice one dude loud and proud......
Takes me back to the day :o) Fantastic sounds from the 80's.
Very nice sound :)

hellfire.
Hellfire!
sounds abit rough
2700 Horsepower and it doesn't move!
An awful lot of very angry electrons moving though
@FastlineFred over 2500hp
How much fuel do these old v16s burn roughly per mile I know the class 66 does 1mpg anyone know?
A hoover probably does gallons to the mile if a modern class 66 does i mpg lol 😆
How many MG amps showing on full power....? should be around 1900-2000 I think..
