Met Scott Hall at the HOF inductions in 1994, the night before KOTR in Philadelphia. My dad took me and it was an incredible weekend overall. Tried to get a pic or autograph of Hall when he was still Razor Ramon, keep in mind I was 12 at the time, but he was TRASHED. He had a woman following him around, I believe she was some kind of handler/PR person, and he looks at her, while holding two beers in BOTH hands and says,”Do I Look Wasted To You?” Imagine that question in his Razor Ramon voice. It was hilarious and sad all at the same time. I was 12 and I could still tell he was in a bad place. It’s a shame the drugs and alcohol ruined him. He could’ve been something special if he didn’t have all that baggage. I feel weird saying that because he still had such a huge impact on the business overall.
Awesome story, now with a clear head he can be a hall of famer writer if he were to want to pursue it. Any part of wrestling with him in it though can't be mad with his hands on it

By far, growing up, razor's edge was the coolest looking finisher... His lengthy frame made it look so much more devastating of a move... It was the first "modern" pro wrestling move I ever saw that had flash and totally unique to anything up to that point... My childhood heroes have already begun to fade as time passes... The strength a man has to possess to successfully pull off that move is incredible. Scott did it nearly every week, multiple times for the better part of a decade. The man was crazy strong... not too mention crazy awesome. RIP.

Razor never needed a belt he was super star without it he just had that it factor whether he was a good guy or a bad guy you loved his character regardless
He could have been even more popular with a World Title run or two. But he was unreliable.
Hes a great standalone character. He never needed the championship to further his persona.
Back then l think the IC title was far more prestigious as well. After it was retired and brought back mostly because it still had the WWF logo engraved on it, any old plodder won it afterwards.

I remember Curt Hennig's father Larry 'The Axe' who was a Tag Team champ with Harley Race. Curt learned and gained a wealth of knowledge from his father and Verne Gagne (former AWA Champ & owner). He was unselfish and passed that knowledge and experience on to Scott Hall who appreciated it and gave Curt credit. Miss them both.

Its weird that Razor Ramon only had 1 title shot, and that was in his first year in WWF. His only match was against Bret Hart at the Royal Rumble, when Diesel was the Champion Razor never got a shot against him.
It would've been awesome to see Razor vs HBK for the WWF title.

Cobedizzle he is known by other workers as one of the best & is highly respected by many in & out of the business however he is still way underrated & not only should’ve but could’ve been a great World Champion who can carry a promotion on his back.
It would’ve been so great to see some long programs with Curt chasing & defending the title with guys like Bret, Shawn, Benoit, Flair, Kurt Angle, Guerrero, and yes even Hogan. I would’ve also loved to see Curt carry Goldberg through a match and beat him in the WCW days because you know Curt could make Goldberg look great even going over him.
Curt could work with anyone, and make anyone look good, even guys like Goldberg, but don’t get caught up with that, my point is he would’ve been a credible and well deserved world champion and not just to transition it.

Aside from even Flair, the first bit now makes so much sense. Wrestling Bios (I think) points out that after every move he would look like a spectator thinking "hell, that's gotta hurt!"....so now we know who suggested that...Mr Perfect. Genius.
Mr. Perfect was the best at posturing between moves. My favorite squash match ever was seeing him turn a ginger jobber named Sandy Beach beet red with chops. Then he held him between the ropes and started stretching his face, saying "Have you got anyone you want to say hello to at home?" Tremendous heel work.

A couple people have mentioned that Flair was owed money so he took the belt but there was also the fact that Jim Herd drove him nuts, ran the company into the ground, and ran everybody else off. Everybody forgets that every NWA/WCW mainstay not named Sting also left because of this guy. Arn, Tully, Dusty, The Midnight Express, etc. And Sting probably would have bailed had he not gotten hurt. The guy was a nutbag and a jerk and that’s why Flair did what he did.
I love Ric Flair. One of thr greats. But whenever he tells a story about someone he doesnt like, that screwed him, etc... I take it with a grain of salt.

As such, they banded to protect one another from anyone else in the business who dared to do any of them harm. There were other cliques that did the same thing. Pro wrestling reached its highest peak when Hall, Nash and Hogan formed the NWO, and the then WWF countered with the Rock, Austin and the Undertaker. It was great, especially if you had the capabilities to line up two TV sets next to one another to watch both Raw and Nitro at the same time. Back then it was the only thing on television worthwhile to watch. What is there now? Nothing!

Curt Hennig said a guy who helped him out alot with knowledge was Playboy Buddy Rose. While Curt was working the territories to get experience after he broke in the business he would up in Portland for Don Owens. Curt said he learned alot from Rose who really knew the business, could work, knew psychology, was great on the mic and could draw heat!!!!!!!
Flair was perfectly justified in taking the belt. As I understand it, when you are chosen as world champion, you put a $25,000 deposit down on the belt just in case something happens to it. Jim Herd fired Flair and wouldn't give him back his deposit.

I find it hard to believe Hall didn't know the whole story of Flair and Herd. That's like one of the top 2 or 3 most well known stories in wrestling history.

I cannot stand Flair and I cannot anyone who dares take one promotions belt to the next promotion BUT! Flair was justified for that. At the time champs had to put down a $15,000 deposit for the belt. So he was told drop the belt, Flair says sure but I need my deposit back. They didn't want to give it back to him so it's simple, if you do not give him his deposit then technically he owns that belt.

That's ALOT of bread to just hand back to the promotion without getting your deposit back. If you ask me, WCW disrespected Flair almost as bad as WWF disrespecting Bret Hart. What's Rick supposed to do? Hand over the title, get fired and be out 25k? Nah, no way.. Rick was 100% justified. Especially since he gave the title back immediately as soon as WCW finally came to their senses and returned his deposit. (Props to Nate Nizzle for the 10k correction).

@@MrNWA4Life oh for sure.. you put a deposit down on ANYTHING then you become the prime owner of that prime relistate whether it be an object, a home, car, belt, weapon, whatever.. you put the money down and it's technically your property until you recieve your deposit back and yes you can do whatever you please with that property.

Not anything. A local promoter makes you his champion, you didn't put a deposit on it. But the NWA Board demanded anyone getting the NWA World belt put down a $25,000 bond. Either the wrestler or the promoter they worked for.
I was under the impression that Ric owned that big gold belt. Jim Herd was playing games with him and wouldn't pay him proper for the belt so Flair didn't do anything that hurts the other boys because they ended up making another belt anyway. Crockett had the belt specially made for Flair anyway, so when did it become the property of the WCW? I thought Flair sold it to them afterwards? I'm not sure. Either way, I don't see a problem with Flair taking it to the WWF.

How was he screwed over? Vince paid him well and used the angle of having the WCW belt on tv (censored) as a way to give Flair the advantage when he renegotiated his return to WCW.

I honestly cannot stand Flair or his body of in ring work but he isn't wrong on the belt incident. If WCW wants their Belt back they need to pay Flair his 25k deposit back, plain n' simple. That's not blackmail or extortion, that's HIS legit money. They cannot just deprive a man of his deposit money if he has the belt in good condition and ready to return it. Many others said he didn't have to go on national television with the WWF showing it off. No F that, if they won't give him his deposit back then the belt is the his to do whatever he pleases with. They're not loyal enough to honor their agreement to him then why be loyal to them? Flair had his reasons for taking his belt to wwf.It wasnt just to be an ass.He was owed money and wasn't paid so he said f it !! More specifically, he was OWED money relating to the down payment he had put up as collateral for him being in possession of said belt. Why should Flair return the belt if he wasn't going to be given his deposit (plus interest) back? Flair did nothing wrong. He's still the man!
@@garywong4403 Was the collateral for the belt? I have seen many wrestlers with belts on their walls in their homes. The only thing I didn't like about wrestling is when people have real injuries and then the add that to the storyline is just stupid.
