    You are so good at this! I hope MPB is paying you very well for your work. If not, you should start your own channel. This truly was one of the best comparisons/reviews/overviews of the Fujifilm X100VI I've seen. And, there are a LOT of them. Thanks for the excellent presentation! And, by the way, you should introduce yourself at the top of the video even if you are presenting for MPB.

    The best X100vi review since 28 Feb! Ok, the mountain and evening scenery does help. I got mine on the 28th, my first X100, in black with the weather kit (although I use a XT5). I'm off to the Swiss Alps too at the end of this week to ski and will take the X100vi in a pouch up the mountains. Thanks for the review, although I suspect that there must have been a few people in MPB who would have jumped at the chance to review a camera in the Swiss Alps! PS, the v vs vi body difference - is it the red on the lever of the v?

    Haha that alpine weather change is so typical. I went up a mountain range in Switzerland and saw NOTHING the entire way up and for an hour afterwards. Then suddenly the wind changed and bam, ridiculously gorgeous snowy mountains. When the weather closes in it’s very easy to forget you’re over 1000m up 🙈

    Another great review - would you prefer this over the Q3?

    • @mpbcom
      @mpbcom  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Glad you enjoyed it! That's a hard question! Money no object, the Q3 is the best camera I've tested in its class for a very long time. However, does it offer enough over the X100V or X100VI (which are also brilliant cameras)...? I'm not sure it does. I know I would personally shoot more freely with the X100 series, I'd certainly be more cautious with the Q3 - which means that for me personally, I might not get quite as much out of it. Image quality wise - yes the Q3 is first rate. But it's everything else around it that will sway people one way or the other.
      In short, I am on the fence currently! Thanks for tuning in! Amy

  • @cotswoldphotographers
    @cotswoldphotographers 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    A really enjoyable review, as always, and you’re probably the reason I bought the V when it was released and haven’t regretted it one bit.
    I can also highly recommend the NiSi filter adapter which fully weather seals the camera and to its benefit it also works with the front cover cap so you can put it on and forget about it. It only makes the lens fractionally bigger but is still better than the more expensive Fuji version which you can’t use the cap with! Additionally, you can also get them with black mist filters 😃

    • @SilverHalides
      @SilverHalides 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Never tried a Fuji X100, so completely unaware of features and accessories. Does this mean that the camera will be fully weather sealed with the Fuji or NiSi filter adapter, also when the wide angle or telephoto adapters are mounted?
      Also, I would be really interested in hearing people's opinions about the image quality you get with these adapters on the lens.
      Thanks for an absolutely lovely review!

    • @cotswoldphotographers
      @cotswoldphotographers 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SilverHalides I’ve never used any of the teleconverters but from what I understand they are very good. The NiSi UV and Black mist filters merely provide filtration and weather sealing whilst keeping the camera true and portable. I like the standard 23mm (35mm equivalent) focal range and for the odd time I need to zoom in I either use the digital zoom or simply crop in post. Fujifilm is my fun camera and I love it for that and imo it’s the perfect travel and street camera, incredibly discrete and truly pocketable.

      @@cotswoldphotographers post a link to the right Nisi stuff you have so I can buy it too. I preordered the VI version. • @mpbcom
      @mpbcom  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @cotswoldphotographers That's great to know! Not being able to put the front cap on with the weather-sealing filter and adapter fitted is a little annoying, especially in heavy snow! Glad you enjoyed the review, thanks for watching! Amy

    • @mpbcom
      @mpbcom  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @silverHalides It should be fully weather-sealed with those attached and it was pretty good even without, you just have to be careful with the front of the lens.
      I was really impressed with the quality of the adapters. There was some fall off in the corners and a very small amount of vignetting in the corners, but I didn't find it to be too distracting.

    Great video! One other relevant physical difference between the V and the VI is the location of the tripod thread. At 8:12 you say it's "not the best ever fixed lens camera." What would you say is the best fixed lens camera? Leica Q3? If so, it's also much heavier and costs over 3x as much, so for most people something like that is not feasible.

      You guess correctly. Money no issue - the Q3 is exquisite. But for almost everyone (including me) what it offers over this camera for the price just isn't worth it for a lot of shooting. The Q3 is better, but is it £1000's better? That's down to whoever is buying! Thanks for watching - Amy

From what I’ve seen on other yt videos the resolution on the new 40 mp sensor is no better than the 26, and might even be a bit worse and the at high ISO shown in this video ……… I again think the v beats the vi. I wouldn't blame you for being tempted by the X100V or the Q3! They're both excellent. I personally love having IBIS, but that's based on my shooting style. I was impressed at the ISO test, the V really performed well! Thanks for watching and hope this helps! Amy

      I think you're right, I didn't even spot that! Had to go back and have another look. I was talking about the viewfinder switch (slight) redesign. Thanks for tuning in! Amy

      Not for a while but we normally see new cameras about 6 months after announcement on average. Perfect timing for winter sun and fairy lights! Thanks for tuning in! Amy

    nice video, a pitty MPB was buying X100V for 800 euros in December 2023 and still reselling them today for around 1900 Euros!!!!.... that kills a bit the seriousness of the company. When are you planning to stop this price abuse of second hand X100V????

    Sadly, Fujifilm isn't releasing a 23mm F2 Pancake for X-Mount, because then...the whole X100 would become obsolete, easy as that. 🙂 Original X100 owner here. But i'd get the Voigtländer Ultron 27/F2 before summer, to mount on my X-E2.

      @mpbcom  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There doesn't seem to be one on the cards, but I'm not sure it would become completely obsolete. I feel like people would still enjoy the limitation, the forced use of the lens rather than having the option to change. I owned the original X100 too, it was such a great road trip camera! I guess we'll never know until we get a pancake (hint hint Fuji). That Voightländer will be awesome on your X-E2! Thanks for watching - Amy

    I think there’s isnt any change of a difference between the 26.1 mp vs 40 mp. Hence, I will keep my x100v. 😁

      @mpbcom  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is a noticeable difference zoomed right in on a good monitor, but its definitely not huge! The X100V (and some of the other previous models) are still excellent options! Thanks for watching - Amy

      There was a little more detail on the 100% crop, but a TH-cam video isn't going to show you much difference.

      It is more obvious on a nice big display, zooming right in to the high resolution files, but I get your point. For a lot of people that upgrade won't be a reason to go for the VI, and they might want to go with the V instead. The ISO test's outcome was interesting too! Thanks for watching - Amy

    I don’t get it. You went on and on about Fujifilm color science and then threw all that color science out the window and just edited the Raw files anyway.
    • Pro Tip: Did you know you can keep the originally recorded film simulations on your Raw files when you edit them in Light Room? I believe only Fujifilm cameras support this feature.

    • @mpbcom
      @mpbcom  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Colour science apply's to RAW images too. The way sensor's are designed and the Raws are processed in camera before reaching your card is all part of that.
      In an environment with so many challenges in terms of dynamic range, I wanted to shoot and edit Raw files most of the time. But it is nice to know that you have the freedom to instantly share jpegs which look great from the Fuji range, because of their great colour science. Thanks for watching - Amy
