    Awesome Brother.Its Great that you and King's Racing are carrying on Rex Way of Measuring blow down and getting your Numbers 💯 percent perfection!! Great review!! 👊

    For it to be the cheapest o.s. engine it's pretty nice to a basher like me ..real nice break down of the engine and info..great video bro 👊🏿

    30 degrees blowdown is a good number . the way I get the number is exhaust from open to close say 184 and open say 124 then you half both and subtract one from the other that is the blowdown. its interesting from big 2 strokes all the way to the small ones the timing stays the same . I used to build drag racing scooter engines for a living and have been porting my own nitro engines for 30 years or so. there is always room for improvement but the blowdown is most important for a good running engine.

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very interesting ! Our method to measure the blowdown doesnt take into account how large the exhaust port is, yours seems to if I understand well.

    • @anytimeDrumvideos
      @anytimeDrumvideos 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It would Be total duration open. so as piston is coming down as soon as you see light at top of port window you set degree wheel to zero and run it around back up to close and that is duration open. same on transfers. the crank same way at open set gauge to zero run back around to close and that's the number .Really like your videos. @@TastyBRC

    You can use soda pop can aluminum to make shims also under the sleeve. just trace around the sleeve with a exacto knife on a sheet of can side then slide sleeve through and put it in the case then trace the top and it will pop you out a perfect shim. each shim is 3 thousandths. I made a dynamite 19 really run well with just adding 2 shims and having squish at 6 thousandths in a outrigger boat. its unbelievable fast.

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I use regular head shims under the sleeve, I use my dremel and a bit of patience to enlarge the shim. Did that with my Ultimate m5 you can check the vid

  • @a2rc
    @a2rc 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great vid 🩷
    - I wonder if the blow down numbers are doubled because there are 2 transfer ports ⁉️🤷🏻‍♂️ Maybe that’s why he doubled the numbers? Not sure.
    - The engine is still nice and should do well (especially if you take some time to do some mods). If you are going to mod it, run it stock first to get a feeling for the engine. Then later mod it to have some comparison.

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you,
      I rather think that it's some kind of 360-180° thing, maybe his software was measuring by 180° wjile we use a 360° wheel but in that case we should also get different numbers on the crankshaft but we get the same open and closing numbers... It will remain a mistery, sadely.
      The plan is first a comparison vid with the dusty, then try it stock, next modded

    hey man i know you had some doubts about the nova engines, but i recently just got a B3R and every issue that you had with yours (along with some of the other issues other people have had) have been fixed. The weirdly tight tolerances on the crank are fixed, the piston and sleeve are much smoother and didn’t have any scratches or anything, the dlc on the crank is much much better, and they updated the cooling heads and they’re way better than the original design. The only thing that hasn’t changed is that there aren’t weights in the crank. If you still don’t have a desire to get one, i don’t blame you, but they are far better now than when they first came out

    though the internals are quite simple, the engine has plenty of power and runs great

    • @TastyBRC
      @TastyBRC  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Dusty gave an idea of how this one will run, sure I wont be disappointed! And I will have fun modding it.

    • @ashermorales8276
      @ashermorales8276 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TastyBRC It should respond pretty good to mods, but a quick warning to be careful with the crank though. Even though it’s a like a blank canvas and is super tempting to start hacking away at it and putting all the cuts a high end race engine has, taking off too much weight for the crank will make it seem super snappy on the box, but once the wheels are on the ground and there’s load on the engine, the engine can tend to bog down or make less torque because the crank doesn’t have the same amount of rotating mass that it used to to help push through the load on the engine. An engine with smoother throttle response, but still makes torque is going to perform much better than a super snappy engine that bogs down under any sort of load. Speaking from experience here. I’ve done that to a couple cheap motors that ran great stock, but still had room for improvement, but I took the “improving” a little too far 😅
