@@Kelle128 The gentleman who owned the 675 had multiple engine issues with the car. I’m terms of build quality the Artura was substantially nicer in terms of interior. Panel gaps, overall fit and finish were very tight and crisp. Can’t speak to the reliability because I was only out on a demo day. The car was being driven hard throughout the day by potential buyers and didn’t skip a beat so I guess that’s something. After getting out of the artura it felt all of what they’re asking for it.
If you don't have to fiddle around with the hood latch in front, that means you can push the button by accident and smash your hood into your windshield at any speed you want, right?
Or, since everything is electronic and not physical, someone thought of this and a programmer inserted a "is car stationary?" prompt and it will not react if the car is not standing.
For an exotic it better feel insane, still will never compare to a v12, v10, or v8. The engine will leave a lot to be desired compared to other exotics.
That infotainment looks 6 years behind. Maybe it's more responsive (and it better be for a supercar) but those bezels and UI. Wow! Btw Subaru also has vertical infotainment, it's like the biggest interior upgrade for 2022 and onwards models.
I can't imagine the random issues and reliability problems these may have. McLaren seems to have their hand full with time tested V8s, throwing in a hybrid system may be a disaster.

In my opinion McLaren is the only company that knows how to do a great orange. Usually I'd say choose yellow or red, but this particular dark tone looks so great, especially when the sun reflects in the right angle to make it look light glowing lava🥹 edit: and I think Lamborghini should follow McLaren's example and give all of their cars scissor doors
What pisses me off is they aren’t even scissor doors, they go out too much to where it’s like a lazy butterfly door. A lot of cars have them just pick, butterfly OR scissor.
Didn’t even mention Tesla when talking about vertical infotainment screens. Yeah maybe they don’t really do it anymore but they kind of pioneered the use of the vertical screen
I really like McLarens, and the 296. But you know what other car has a turbo V6 hybrid power train with a DCT, goes 0-60 in under 3 seconds, looks amazing, has AWD, and is around half the cost? That’s right, the NSX!
@ 19:28 . . . I understand sound is subjective and most of the technological advancements to increase power and reduce fuel consumption tend to impact the exhaust note but, that being said, the sound is a little disappointing. It reminds me of the Ford GT (also using a highly stressed V6). The sounds mostly just gets louder as it revs, but the character doesn't really change.
This is interesting. I didn't realize the value it brought for its price. I think as cars trickle into the used car market it will probably become even more obtainable; which I think shows promise for it making a following. It has potential to hold a similar position in the super car world, compared to what something like a c8 corvette is to regular cars.
The cup holder placement is reminding me of the mp4-12c which is really what this at seems to officially be replacing/redesigning. Which I’m a huge fan of
this is the perfect car for someone who's looking to buy a supercar in 4-5 years time, when it will have depreciated a-lot yet still have the amazing driving experience.
Love the weird example of why you'd remove the sensors from the alarm system. Alternatively, a real world scenario. You pop in to the shop and leave your dog in the car.
Even the sound. Some can go around the sound and make it sound amazing. Doesn't look like McLaren was able to do even that. Maybe with an aftermarket exhaust.
Using the electric motor for reverse to eliminate reverse gear from the transmission is genius.

Again, different scenarios but ML should have put safety over anything else and just do the right thing, dead battery or sudden shut off, roll down the window x amount.
@@unloveableandre True that's a good idea! I wonder if they've done something like that !
Gotta say, one of the best sounding V6's. I think Jag and Alfa are better, but this is very good!
Would love to see an updated MP4-12C review!
McLaren announced this car 2 years ago … Tesla Roadster: hold my beer
McLaren is the best value for money car if you don't think about reselling the car in the future but for some McClarens like 765lt are appreciating and they might hit a million dollars in coming years
"I got up to the speed limit there" 🤣🤣🤣 love Mclaren been waiting for you to be able to drive this. Looks like a blast to drive just based on how much fun you had.
Having driven one of these, something is to be said for the greenhouse. The forward visibility is excellent. Absurdly fast!
have you driven previous McLarens? curious how you feel it compares.
@@borntobomb Just a 675 LT which felt like a completely different car. Much more aggressive and raw. Pretty difficult to get in and out of too. The Artura could easily be driven as a daily. A lot of the people who were on the books for the Artura were buying them for their SO or as a daily (according to the rep)
What about reliability and build quality? I want to hear about that.
I may pop up in Canada
If you don't have to fiddle around with the hood latch in front, that means you can push the button by accident and smash your hood into your windshield at any speed you want, right?
Or, since everything is electronic and not physical, someone thought of this and a programmer inserted a "is car stationary?" prompt and it will not react if the car is not standing.
@@riddlerandsa8161 forgot to close your hood? Spend 10 minutes trying to figure out why your car won't move.
@@jwalster9412 There will be a message in the display

Doug McLaren has already started “750s” speccing with their higher end clients! They just had a session this weekend in LA.
I test drove this this weekend and was impressed and Im sold, just kinda sucks its going to take 5-6 months to be delivered
Still came out faster than the cyber truck
My man spitting out facts here.
Tom Cruise will come out before the cyber truck.
excited to see Doug review the Roadster! that will be something but Cyber truck will be here likely sooner
@@rimo1703 roadster hasn’t been worked on at all. It’s probably not releasing
A 300+ hp Acura Sedan already feels crazy. I can imagine any 500+ hp v6 just feels completely insane! Good review doug.
For an exotic it better feel insane, still will never compare to a v12, v10, or v8. The engine will leave a lot to be desired compared to other exotics.
@@jaredchampagne2752 I miss the rawness of older naturally aspirated engines. They all sound amazing with the smooth power curve.
Having seen the car in flesh I can confirm. It’s pretty awesome and modern 🥰
Doug is the kid of guy that has a wrecked key fob on a new car. Gotta love the man
4:51 Doug, the 296GTB eats this thing for breakfast. Even Top Gear said that they´re not even in the same league.
That infotainment looks 6 years behind. Maybe it's more responsive (and it better be for a supercar) but those bezels and UI. Wow!
Btw Subaru also has vertical infotainment, it's like the biggest interior upgrade for 2022 and onwards models.
Have you seen Ferraris infotainment? 😂 This is head and shoulders above that
Very nicely sculpted
I think the 296 Ferrari v6 sounds better
Would love to see the E-Ray and this go at it. Seems like a similar car
Carwow Eray, 296, and Artura drag race 😎
@@John.Christopher 296 walks it.
@@R4M_Tommy which?
Edit: it's faster than the F8
E-Ray is not in the same category. it is heavier, less powerful and costs half as much. 296 GTB is faster than 765LT, and Artura is faster than E-Ray
19:07 u know you’ve done a car design right when ur the rear of the car would also make a beautiful front end
Nothing makes my day more than Doug’s “THISSS”
This is very much styled after the P1 (almost the same headlights), which is maybe appropriate given they're both hybrids.
Hey Doug, can you review the SSC Tuatara?
I can't imagine the random issues and reliability problems these may have. McLaren seems to have their hand full with time tested V8s, throwing in a hybrid system may be a disaster.
great video, but the highlight for me was Doug standing next to Sunstreaker.
made my day!
21:55
Officer: sir do you know how fast you were going?
Doug: speed limit!
Officer: you were going 110.
Doug: I thought this car read in kilometres per hour!
In my opinion McLaren is the only company that knows how to do a great orange. Usually I'd say choose yellow or red, but this particular dark tone looks so great, especially when the sun reflects in the right angle to make it look light glowing lava🥹
edit:
and I think Lamborghini should follow McLaren's example and give all of their cars scissor doors
They are a bit played out.
“Yeah they don’t make it in this color, they did it just for me”
What pisses me off is they aren’t even scissor doors, they go out too much to where it’s like a lazy butterfly door. A lot of cars have them just pick, butterfly OR scissor.
It's a pretty nice dark orange. I'd still prefer Mayan Spark, but this really isn't bad at all.
Lambo has a nice orange palette
I love the exterior design language; they managed to forego sharp bits and openings that like some Lambo's have been cursed with.
Those aren’t scissor doors btw Douglas, they’re butterfly doors 👍
no, dihedral
@ dihedral doors, also known as butterfly doors 👍 when they open, they look like the wings of a butterfly 🦋
love the Mclare n PR sticker on the charging cord @9:59
Didn’t even mention Tesla when talking about vertical infotainment screens. Yeah maybe they don’t really do it anymore but they kind of pioneered the use of the vertical screen
1:55 The owner: can you please stop leaning on my $275,000 car! 😬
Very believable regarding accelerating to “speed limit” with the contractor’s pick up passing you @22:20
I really like McLarens, and the 296. But you know what other car has a turbo V6 hybrid power train with a DCT, goes 0-60 in under 3 seconds, looks amazing, has AWD, and is around half the cost? That’s right, the NSX!
For one I am thankful for the new chapter markers. It lets you know how much of the infotainment section to skip completely.
I like that they chose 'DNR' for the gear selection, basically saying it's "Do Not Resuscitate" if you wreck the thing.
You pop in to the shop and leave your dog in the car.
the reaction of the acceleration was priceless
Even the sound. Some can go around the sound and make it sound amazing. Doesn't look like McLaren was able to do even that. Maybe with an aftermarket exhaust.
Now that paint work looks good!
Waiting for this to hit 200 so I can grab one
Do a review on the new McLaren 750s coupe and spyder
9:23 that almost feels like a "I'm leaving my dog in the car" mode. But you have to be a different kind of rich to take your pug in the McLaren XD
