Lol have you seen how those dash boards are made. They are aluminum sheet metal with foam and the foam in coated with material. If you remove the old material you’ll have nothing left.

That won’t last. The sun just cooks vinyl and causes it to delaminate and stretch in all different directions. Nice looking now however.
