Same. Even if Bethesda fixed the invisible wall pathing issue in Hangman's Alley and made the build height one more level I'd be happy. But vids like this make me want to get FO4 on the PC.
I doubt PS4 will ever get mods for Bethesda games. 100% sure it's a security thing, they just can't isolate games properly on the PS4 to prevent accessing the core OS. That's my guess anyway. .
Well lucky for you guys, PS4 is getting mods for FO4 soon after Skyrim SE! :D You won't be able to use custom assets unfortunately, but most of the settlement mods re-use existing objects and geometry anyway, so if settlements are your thing... well, there ya go.
Seeing this mod makes me sad. Not because I'm a PS4 player, but because DAMMIT BETHESDA! It sucks that the buildings just can't be used in the vanilla game at all. :(
That is a roomy settlement thanks to the mod. In vanilla you end up either stacking presets 3 stories high, which looks really ugly and chews up the build bar, or the place become a dirty mess of wooden panels on the ground that confounds the AI. The only upside to Hangman's Alley in that case is its ability to quickly recruit new Settlers through the beacon which can then be sent elsewhere.
XoRandomGuyoX realising i am responding to a 2 year old comment x) you are so right with the build bar. But i kinda like that you have to be creative to build there. It's a shame with the pathing, though.

This is a really awesome way to do Hangman's Alley, the way it should have been - that mod is brilliant in how it adds logical extensions to the world. So that is really cool. Its really awesome how you set up all the places for the people, very cool. My one thought, and I don't know if its possible, is that it would have been cool if there were dividers between the bed areas - not full walls but like cloth barriers and stuff.
This sort of makes hangman’s alley look prewar....except everything is all rundown. It’s just such a nice settlement. Like the minutemen took over part of Boston and made it live able
Probably what I appreciate most about this settlement is that the mod that makes it possible, is how viable it makes hangman's as a minute man outpost from a military perspective. You have solid cover, and great views of areas that are known to have high hostile activity from the windows in the apartments. I know your settlements have a more "homey" sense to them, but with Hangman's being my default homestead for Survival mode, I wanted to make it as tactically advantages as possible. Solid video. Introduced me to a very worth while mod.
I had so many ideas for this settlement. I was just waiting for someone to open up the buildings around it and allow to reach the rooftops. Your settlement looks great. Can't wait to build my own!
I love how Oxhorn brings up the lovely view of Diamond City.... right after showing us an artillery cannon pointed in its general direction. I wonder if Hangman's Alley ever gets messengers asking them point there gun away from the city.
I always found Hangman's Alley an interesting build spot. Reminds me of those New York houses where space is limited so you get a lot of creative multi-purpose units like storage in the floor, etc etc
This settlement is extremely well built; Your infrastructure and practical use are exceptional. Good job, Ox. As you allude to at the end of the video, it really captures the spirit of city wasteland life. Raiders, super-mutants, rad scorpions, and ghouls permeate every corner of downtown Boston... but not this corner. As Ian Malcolm says in Jurassic Park, "Life, uh... finds a way."
YES, I was just complaining about the limited space in this settlement, you have saved me once again! I love the settlement build videos as well as the in-depth storytelling theories

thanks for the help on this settlement i didnt have a sodding clue how to wire the apartments up or get to the roof, i really enjoy your videos a lot of the time im laughing like hell. keep up the excellent work respect.
Most people have large settelments like Sanctuary, The Castle, or even Vault 88 (my friend loves Vault-Tec lore) as player homes. But I love this settelment and always use it in any playthrough
Love your vids Oxhorn. Your commentary is always entertaining and even without access to mods I've learned a lot from your build layouts. Keep up the great work rebuilding the Commonwealth!
Very nice settlement. You do a very good job with all the videos. After a stressful day at work, I no longer play the game but watch one of your videos. The ghost lifting weights was cool.
This. Is. Awesome. Like you, I was kinda excited at the potential of Hangman's Alley. But the reality makes it such a bother that I only kept like 4 settlers there. This mod really opens up the full potential of the space!
Thank you so much for showing the apartments. I have struggled mightily with this settlement with the lack of room. I have since downloaded the Apartment mod and OH MY GOD!!! I'm loving it. Thank you again.
Glad I saw this for two reasons. First, I will immediately stop building settlements in my vanilla game until I download some mods like these. Second, I cannot believe the settlers dialog comments are still so negative. 'Living easy, this ain't', I am talking to you (11:29). Seriously. You live in one of the safest / nicest apartments in the game, and are rocking a unique (basically a designer) cowgirl dress. Guess I expected dialogue change after building a successful settlement with higher happiness.
At 8:55 idk if it's possible to have larger tables, but I feel like if you're going to have a large eating area for 36 people, the width of it should be longer, the length is fine, but it should be wider. It would fill in some of that empty space behind it by the wall and it would give the dining room area more of a grand feeling, make it look more extravagant.
15:56 when oxhorn is trying to make this a "family friendly" channel so he doesn't show that settler at the back with the exposed bottom by just skimming over it so we don't notice😊
Hangman's alley is huge without the prebuilt structures! I just deleted all the housing facades (accidentally) and felt kinda clever about it until I realized I could walk through a map wormhole that led to a viaduct somewhere around bunker hill. Where did you get the Zissou hat at 9:37?
this is by far my favorite settlement location. I built up an apartment style building and a catwalk overhead. I try to make it look like a raider style location with the "tents" or three pole tarps. It always reminds me of like a star wars style market place. But this mod looks incredible!
So glad I clicked on this video while taking a break form my current playthorugh. I was just thinking what the heck was I going to do with Hangman's alley the apartment building mod really opens up the possabilities!
yeah I was proud I fit every bed I needed into Hangman's ally but, it was basically wood "houses" stacked up with beds and an awkward staircase going up XD this mod will help a lot. ty
Other than the hideous beds I really like what you've done here. Personally, I think all mattresses should be covered by a sleeping bag, patch work quilt made from old clothing or some other type of cover. I especially like the roof top gardens and the Minuteman artillery piece is the perfect 'crown' for this little empire :) Great work, Ox :)
Man, I gotta say Oxhorn. I'm really new to your channel and can't believe I haven't seen you around before. I am absolutely loving everything you're doing here. These Settlements, the Lore videos, God, everything you're doing is really great and it helps that you have a really refreshing and super charismatic personality (I see you dumped all those S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points in there ;)). Absolutely loving everything and honestly, you're the first TH-camr I've seen in awhile that I think I might actually donate to. Much love to what you're doing Brother, Jeremy. P.S. Ad Victoriam :P
This looks amazing! I was looking for inspiration for Hangman's and this was the second video I saw (the first being your original video for this settlement). I'm trying to keep the mods I use to a minimum, so I likely won't use the Apartments one, but this gave me some great ideas!
I put off working on Hangman's Alley til last night, because I wasn't sure what to do. Revisiting it, I decided that I actually really liked the shantytown feel of the place, so I did very little to change the existing buildings, other than to set up some extra workbenches and the necessities, and to put 2 or 3 beds in every house(I used the old mattresses without bedframes to keep the aesthetic) Then, I got up onto the roof and covered the whole top with a canopy of shack flooring, with a ladder leading up to it, and set up a bar stand and restaurant stand, put up a railing around the edge and a cement wall on the side facing the entryway, and, to keep the feel of the town going, and then put up a bunch of tables and chairs, none of which matched, all across the canopy floor. There's also a second stairway leading up to the raised house, where I put the artillery gun. I'm really satisfied with how the settlement turned out, I really got it to feel like it was cobbled together with scrounged parts by people trying to do the best they could. And the outdoor restaurant above the town really turned out well. I'm glad I waited this long to build up the town, so that I had time to figure out how to get it set up just right.
I am in dire need of the mod that reskins the workstations, lmao, I am about to run off to your mod list. Anyway, your build looks amazing! I love how elaborate and creative everything is, most especially that all of the settlers have realistic tasks that add to the immersion. And the night view is incredible, it's so cozy and very reminiscent of New Vegas! Another good one, Ox.
My husband is over here cursing under his breath now, as he had acquired Hangmans Alley and was working on it when I stumbled across your video here and showed him the mod that opens the two buildings. We now have the mod and he is reworking what he had already done to Hangmans Alley lol 😂🤣.
Wow, so Hangman's Alley /can/ actually be useful! Is definitely my least favorite settlement area, being as cramped as it is stock. Very, very nice job! I love that you've given thought to the layout and design...looks like you really spent a lot of time on it and it looks beautiful. Going to have to check out the mod that opens up those tower interiors...
Hey Oxhorn, would you ever revisit (again) your settlements and try to build them without mods? Even as someone who has access to mods I still find it fun to learn all the snapping modes, glitches and stuff.
I think the reason the original build height was below the rooftops is because of framerate issues when you walk in to downtown boston, giving the engine additional structures to render along with the already demanding city
I'm using the Interior apartments mod and the wall pass through conduits are either too short or too tall for the floors, for me. The ones that are too short are a good four inches or so short and the other conduit has it's top in the ceiling and can't be used. I'm using Xbox One. :(
I love that after 3 playthroughs and hundreds of hours that I still learn so much from your videos. My only complaint is that you used the apartment mod. I would have liked to have seen how you managed with the vanilla layout. I had a 20 person settlement in HMA in one play through complete with garden, defenses, utilities, and a suspended wooden shack apartment building and an artillery cannon on top. It was definitely spartan and not as pretty, but it worked. lol
To explain the artillery range, if you are in radio range of a settlement broadcast beacon and that settlement has artillery then you're in range for artillery. To monitor the status of your firemission tune into radio freedom once you have thrown an arty grenade. The radio will tell you wether or not you are in range and shooting is about to happen or if you are not in range. Also the fir mission is not finished until your hear him finish on the radio station. It does matter the amount of arty guns you have at each settlement, the settlers you have assigned to them preform an animation. One guy will turn the wheel and spin the cannon in the direction and fire a shot by pulling the lever on the gun. any other gun in the settlement will preform the pull the lever animation and fire a round. Every settlement in range fires this way and if you have at least 3 guns in each settlement you will have a fire mission that lasts a long time and lays down a lot of effective fire.
Brilliant settlement I finally can get to roof gym workbench has a glitch it happened at my other settlement thanks for all your support can't wait till fo4 london to come out been watching work they have done on TH-cam looks awesome you should check it out
I basically made my personal home out of this place. Crafting stations, Power armor, weapon displays, and decorations galore. If your not that keen on the "settler" part of settlements, this is a great place to have no settlers and make a base of your own liking (just wall off the other doors except the truck entrance and put a turret or two down. Its basically impossible for raiders to get in).
I love what you did with this. I was so happy to see a mod for Hangman's Alley because I thought it was such a tight space to work in. I have the Spring Cleaning mod and was able to scrap the original hut that was there. I'm currently trying to see if I can get the settlers to go on the roof for the garden I put up there XD I have stairs that go up but they don't seem to want to go up there (yet... I'm determined to make it work!)
Really liked what you did with the chandeliers. This is an awesome little settlement. Would have liked to have to seen the actual edges of the settlement. Was just wondering if some of the roofs that weren't used were inside the build area.
I love how dedicated you are with roleplaying the whole Minuteman angle.

Same. Even if Bethesda fixed the invisible wall pathing issue in Hangman's Alley and made the build height one more level I'd be happy. But vids like this make me want to get FO4 on the PC.

You won't be able to use custom assets unfortunately, but most of the settlement mods re-use existing objects and geometry anyway, so if settlements are your thing... well, there ya go.

Another great video from Oxhorn!
Hey Oxhorn,
would you ever revisit (again) your settlements and try to build them without mods? Even as someone who has access to mods I still find it fun to learn all the snapping modes, glitches and stuff.
Sn0man did you ever find some? I recommend the Skooled Zone here on TH-cam. He explains glitches and junk really well 😊😊
I think the reason the original build height was below the rooftops is because of framerate issues when you walk in to downtown boston, giving the engine additional structures to render along with the already demanding city
Watching your videos makes it painfully clear that I'm going to have to buy the DLCs at some point.
I'm using the Interior apartments mod and the wall pass through conduits are either too short or too tall for the floors, for me. The ones that are too short are a good four inches or so short and the other conduit has it's top in the ceiling and can't be used. I'm using Xbox One. :(
Since raiders spawn in the corner , why not try a drop pit falling onto the spikes below ? think it could be fun .
I made that area my small arena, inhabited by a Rabid Yao Guai. Quality entertainment.
only one Yao Guai ? need atleast a few so the raiders dont wipe them out.
It was definitely spartan and not as pretty, but it worked. lol
man, you're awesome. keep the settlement video coming
Brilliant settlement I finally can get to roof gym workbench has a glitch it happened at my other settlement thanks for all your support can't wait till fo4 london to come out been watching work they have done on TH-cam looks awesome you should check it out
I really like your Hangman's alley! Also, I like to use it as my main/base settlement :P
I like ur approach, I essentially turned te whole ally into a 4 story building
I love what you did with this. I was so happy to see a mod for Hangman's Alley because I thought it was such a tight space to work in. I have the Spring Cleaning mod and was able to scrap the original hut that was there. I'm currently trying to see if I can get the settlers to go on the roof for the garden I put up there XD I have stairs that go up but they don't seem to want to go up there (yet... I'm determined to make it work!)
that weight bench thing happened to me too in my raider outpost for the operators! HAUNTED COMMONWEALTH!!!!!
Really liked what you did with the chandeliers. This is an awesome little settlement. Would have liked to have to seen the actual edges of the settlement. Was just wondering if some of the roofs that weren't used were inside the build area.
