Ikr lol, funny that there is a bus housing rentals place in the next city where I live, this guy has about 2 acres of land full with multiple school buses and he made trailer homes out of them and me and my dad got to see them which was cool
The diner / concession stand was breathtaking as a neon island with the outdoor seating section in the front looks impressive. The drive through ticket vendour is a great invention. In having the pre-war vehicles - wow. The farming crops of corn & cows being included was nice, yet I do not see how you managed the kitchen & supplies warehouse. Your defense tower with snipers is so nice in covering your spawn zone being covered. SOME DESIGNER STUDIO NEEDS TO HIRE YOU FOR FREELANCE WORK - you are great!
Ok you are starting to freak me out...your amazing, where everyone else swears and talks very stupid you teach and for that I'm great full, I'm a sixty year old gamer and I'm not that good , but with the help you have been giving me , it's awesome, thank you so much....it keeps getting better and better every video I watch that you make, talk about giving me ideas, wow, really thanks so much....
When I'm 60 I hope they have special servers for 50+ people. I find it annoying to play with 10 year old kids now (34), when I'm 60 I'm gonna lose my shit lol
Beautiful settlement. Love the 'bus & trailer houses.' Me, I just saw those in the workshop list and thought, "Yay, a bus...guess someone could make a wall out of them or something... /shrug" You, sir, are indeed a man of vision.
At our old drive in they broadcasted over the radio, as well, with the local radio station channel. It was super neat. Depending on the weather you could listen to movies anywhere in town.
i work at a drive in called the starlite lol its in missouri if anyone's local and wants to check out a real one :P and we got rid of the window speakers years ago, now you listen on fm
Get this dude some subscribers! He's great, he makes extremely detailed lore videos. I discovered this dude while watching some mod showcases, and I was hooked.
Hello you make the best builds! For some reason everytime I look at your videos I'm like, man why didn't I think of that XD I'll go back to modding now (sorry for my english I speak french) Bisous! ~Uruchat~
Man when you go all out with Mods you do it well. This Video is great I LOVE the Drive Inn! I'm not sure how to use mods just yet but I really want to learn so I can build some bad ass places like you have done in your videos.. GREAT JOB Ox!!
I remember my mum taking my brother and I to the drive-ins in South Australia when I was a kid but we would tune into the drive-in radio and it would play through the car speakers. Still have some great memories from when we'd go.
I was always able to hear sound at the drive in. it was hollow and low but you could walk around and hear it clearly, I suspect it was because many speakers were on just hanging from the posts.
I love how you have built this! Walking in at the beginning, seeing the neon lighting and the screen lit up and working gave me the good feels! Chills... I love it. Definitely better to see at night! Thanks for sharing! ;)
You do such a great job at making these. It takes a huge amount of creativity and imagination to make something as amazing as this especially the red rocket settlement you added onto!
You are a great Settlement builder, most of your Vanilla builds I use on my own settlements, I now use your living cabins from Longfellow Cabin and Spectacle Island very often, mostly for Minutemen outposts
I'm so happy you get to make awesome settlements like this and even receive compensation (in the form of adsense) from them. Keep up the good work Oxhorn, thanks for all the videos
Your the Bob Villa of settlement building. Love your stuff and I wish I had some mod support on my ps4 but watching your vids reinvigorated my motivation to make a unique settlement across the Commonwealth.
It’s likely extremely protective due to a phenomenon I like to call FARPGL (Female Armour Role Playing Game Logic) FARPGL Rule Number One: The less the armour covers, the more it protects.
@@ladyalicent705 The GURPS role-playing game calls it "Bulletproof Nudity". Simply put, the more PD (Passive Defense) you have, the better the chance that enemy shots will just miss. If you're using the optional rule, the less clothes you wear, the higher your PD is (up to PD 7 for total nudity).
Haha. I enjoyed this video so much. Starlight drive in was always one of my favs. I really wish i would have got more into modding when i played this looks incredible.
Ox you did a amazing job on this settlement! I think it would look even better with a few street lights around the busses so at night the settlers can see their walking paths.
I've turned my starlight drive in into an 'Air force base' for the minutemen, where minuteman virti-birds get serviced/repaired as well as 3 on stand-by ready for duty
Just watched this video. Very cool. I installed the Starlight mod for the concession stand lighting and was pleasantly surprised to find something that you hadn't covered in your narrative. As I walked around the Common Wealth I found that the mod also turned on the same colored lights on restaurants and other similar buildings that have the same lights as the Starlight Drive-in concession stand. What a cool addition to make it look like the Common Wealth is coming back alive. :)
I've gotten to the point to where I just click "play all" on Oxhorn's settlement videos and just listen as I play Fallout 4. "Pleasant Sighs" is one of my favorite "Oxhorn" descriptions. HAW HAW
Very nice! Do you know if someone made a mod where you can display the movies from far harbors eden meadows cinemas? BTW there are still working drive-ins. I saw one in Lafayette Louisiana and another in 29 palms California. They have dedicated radio stations for the sound. I had to put an overturned flashlight over my cars sensor so the headlights wouldn't turn on. It was great.
In the tiny town I grew up in there is still a drive in theatre. You can either use the little radios they give or tune in to a specific radio station for audio.
I go to one in Bellville Illinois. They broadcast on a radio transmitter that covers about a city block. In 2000 or so they switched to that over having speaker stations so they didn't have to continue repairing and replacing them. Plus for $8 or $10 you get to watch 2 new movies. They have two screens so 4 movies to chose from. If you're not interested in one they don't care if you switch screens during intermission. Also, the first screen has a nice park for the kids to play while you wait for it to get dark.
This is wonderful. I spend so much time building in Fallout 4, but all of my settlements end up turning into super fortresses, like I'm the paranoid general of the new Boston military junta or something. This sort of build has such... flavour, such character, it's the sort of thing you'd expect to see the developers purposely designing to fit the narrative you just described. Nice work indeed, pal.
Wait! Columbo is on Netflix?! Great work as always. When people ask me how long it took me to crochet a blanket or something I say 4 episodes of Columbo or whatnot lol
There was an old movie called the boy and his dog that is like a precursor to fall out that had this exact kind of setup a post-apocalyptic drive-in movie
i love your settlements, last night i worked 4 hours straight on my settlement. and gave up because my settlers are dumb and they wont follow a proper path and teleport trough walls. 😑
mr oxhorn i have a lil tip for vault 88, you can now remove mist in each section using the scrap everything mod which vastly improves frame rate but its a little finicky, the blueish mist seems easier to remove as you can just about see their emanation points
I use the place everywhere mod, and a good trick is, if u place power conduits next to each other and connect wire, u can afterwards move one of the conduits, and the wire will stick! even trough walls! i use this to put conduits on each side of the wall! sometimes its just crazy how u have to place them for the wires to snap, and this is a neat little trick to avoid it :)
you can with the mod it just needs to be a specific file type not sure if length is an issue visit the page it should say remember from waaay back you just put the right file in the right place I believe
I can only imagine the amount of time, patience, and pain from headaches a mod like this would cause. If it was made, and worked decently enough, I'd pay money to use it, if only out of pity and respect for the one who went through the trouble
I use one of the expanded power radius mod on the basic conduits. The up side is the increased radius means anything using ambient power, require far fewer wires and conduits to work (saving you a lot of effort and size), the down side is that if you use the maximum one anyway as I do, you will not want to do your trick of wiring it and then moving it, the lag of moving that huge power radius is bad, it is far easier to store it and replace it. For me the good out weighs the bad. You could compromise (now knowing there is that extra lag while moving), and use one of the smaller ranged ones, and just need more of them. The largest one will cover most settlements in their entirety, though depending on where in the settlement you place them, some might need more, like Vault 88. Combine this with MOAR Turrets mod (fun in its own right), and it's companion addon which allows its turrets to also work without wires, just like the machine-gun ones, and you can save yourself a lot of trouble with wires. Speaking of that add on, there is one for the mod that gave you the streetlights, thinking it was Homemaker, which can allow your streetlights to work on ambient power as well. The other thing I did to cut down on my wiring, is to get the fuse box generator mod, which was based on the one in the player home from Diamond City, it comes in variations from 10-100 each, and take up very little space. So you can easily plop one on a wall almost anywhere you need it, also keeping you from needing to string wires all over. This can save you a lot of 'size' in your builds. At least with Place Everywhere (not sure without), you can even place one right on, say a water purifier for example, and wire directly, making it independent. While the wires look nice and trashy, which is good if you want that, it can be a pain in some places, such as the entrance to Vault 88, where they decided their new power conduits wouldn't snap, or inside the houses in Sanctuary.
Hi there Oxhorn. See u have my scavenging mod Housekeeping in a couple of ur videos. Would be really happy if u include that in ur list of mods used too! And thx showcasing it! :)
You really do make attractive settlements. It would be interesting to see what you could put together in a hypothetical situation with full developer support and creative freedom in an area say, the size of Diamond City
Love the time and effort that went into this place. I absolutely love Starlight Drive-In and put my own love into it since it's one of my 3 main settlements I cherish. But yours... How many caps would renting a place here cost me??? I'd totally live here
I would of put the lights from the cars at the front to light up the buses, they fit perfectly and surprisingly not that many powering to power them, and you can use the 'place anywhere' mod to hide the conduits and power cables.
I’m not really crazy with what yo did with this settlement but you’ve displayed up some really good ideas to mull over on how to organize everything at the starlight drive in.
We used to have a drive-in a short walk from my home. Unfortunately a tornado destroyed it and the town didnt decide to rebuild it 😞 But this is a gorgeous settlement!
I made Starlight Drive-In into a Brotherhood outpost in my Brotherhood of Steel character, the reason being that I believe the Brotherhood would need to spread their forces to effectively fight the Institute
